- A Hammer Strike -

Half dazed in the vibrant and de-saturated hues of the thoughts that dove across his mind, Chris Canner looked out the window of the economy flight he took back to base about 32 thousand feet above sea level, where the boundary of light seemed to span endlessly.

A utopia for some, a void of madness for others. But for Chris, it just hit him in the face that the world he wished for all those years ago wouldn't be in reach for his hands.

For he had blood on his hands he knew he won't be able to wash off, regardless of whatever god he prays to or the kind where he could atone for his vulgar blood baths that he had no choice but to either partake in or to let his mind and soul be consumed by that fact.

He sighed, blaming the life he let himself choose, knowing damn well that it couldn't be taken back, no matter what he does.

" Violence only begets violence. Right, Haruka?" He put his hands on the photos he had procured the days when he was new to all of this. When he was naive to the fact that dying wasn't just the answer for his problems but it was the cause of a lot more than just problems for the ones he loved.

Chris let the back of his head hit the uncomfortable cushion of the seat he was in and let his body relax.

" How come you still look so damn beautiful, huh?" He scoffed, and then smiling to himself that what happened needn't be changed because he was going to prevent the future that he feared that would be to appear if he didn't have anything to say about it.

He took his smartphone out of its case in his bag and switched it back on, checking up on the time.

It displayed that it was a bit past 8 on the morning for Germany and he took a wild guess that the Dias wasn't ready for his return yet. Because he had a tendency to kill the suspects and the other guys with guns before they reached him.

He wasn't called the Phaze for nothing, even if it wasn't a word or that he wasn't phasing past the enemies.

He just had a really toned down sense of time when his heart races.

" An hour till landing, hoping they don't shoot this thing down..." He set the timer to an hour from the moment he presses the button and he did just that, turning on some music and went for a sweet moment of silence under the comfort of his muffling headphones.

" You know something? I'm a bit of an inventor, a creator. I could be considered one of the greatest minds in this place if only I was given my own office like Vessa! She runs an entire floor for experimenting new things!" Claire twirled the straw into the cup and was messing with the froth she had created on top of the coffee.

" Ye-yeah, I guess so..." The huntress wasn't able to indulge herself in the conversation, still haunted by the series of events that unfolded the day she had her first assignment.

This was her official first attempt but off the records, she was supposed to entertain the higher ups by giving them a live decryption of the bodies that were found three days ago. But for some reason unknown to her, it was put off and was handled by Vanessa Glühe at the last minute from initiation.

" What happened last week?"

" Hmm?" Claire slurped the cup, immediately shrieking from the hot liquid burning her tongue. She looked at Felicia, asking for a second call.

" Last week. They had Switch work on the day I was supposed to. Why?"

" Eh? Switch? Who's tha-" The foodie paused. She looked at her junior with a look of pity.

" What?"

" Don't tell me you picked that up from Finn. Don't tell me you're falling for me cause I'm gonna kill you than you marry him." Felicia was genuinely taken aback from that comment and for a few moments, she didn't know what to say to her.

" NO! It's just that calling her Vanessa seems too formal and Snow Witch is too much like bullying! Switch seems easier!" She shot back at Claire, not even flustered, just purely taken aback by those words.

" Oh. Sorry..." She averted her eyes and searched for something to distract both herself and the girl beside her. And Claire landed a perfect hit. Right as her sterling eyes scoured for a different reason to talk about, Kale Kiomsú ( Meaning Compile in Irish ) was also looking for her and having found her in the cafeteria, he held his hand up and waved at her, gesturing her to come and collect what he had for them.

And as expected, Claire's eyes almost popped with excitement as she asked Felicia to stay where she was and rushed over the the table to receive the same.

" Thank you!" She giggle with delight but as soon as she turned over, signing that the recipient had indeed had possession of the package and that it had taken place, her face changed.

A face of a villain who was gonna inflict a lot of damage. To whom, was not yet decided cause this particular villain was an idiot who didn't know how to use firearms and was only at the Dias for her mastery in deduction and her prowess in software and a bit of amateur knowledge in electronic hardware.

" It's here, it's here, it's here!" Claire Leau ( Meaning Clear or Bright Water in French ) walked back with her chest held high like a child and sat on the table, slamming the box which made Felicia lean back in shock, almost to the point that she fell down and created a mess.

Truly, it wouldn't be a shame if this was the plan of 'La Grande Méchante Claire' ( The Grand Villains Claire in French ) because she didn't plan if that had taken place but she damn well would happily laugh at the mess Felicia made.

But she had more tempting jobs to do and Felicia did look a bit down in the slightest and Claire was willing to lift her spirits. She gave an apologetic look and winked at Felicia.

" Wanna come with me? I got some wonderful things to show you." Her lips twitched.

" I am an inventor, of a certain kind. And this baby here will be interesting to share with someone...unless, you know...you're gonna leave me alone..." The foodie rolled her grey eyes and continued.

" Alone...like everyone did...in the dark...a lone girl, not even out of her chastity and she's what? 33? I'm gonna die alone." She pursed her lips as she closed her eyes, trying to imitate sadness and an aura that would cause anyone to come with her.

Felicia raised her eyebrows, almost out of her thoughts.

" FINE! I WANT YOU TO COME WITH ME! Please?" Felicia found herself smiling and accepted that she wasn't getting anywhere without going to her office first.

" Okay, your wishes are being processed. Much obliged." Both of them smiled as they left for Claire's office.

" Remind me again why I'm carrying this huge box while you're sipping on coffee?" The woman beside her shrugged.

" Uh...it's...yours?" And Leau's objection was shot down.

" Why did we come here if we need to go to the shooting range? What even is this thing?" Felicia groaned, thinking about what she had brought onto herself as she looked at a disassembled array of metallic parts.

Aluminum, pure grade iron and even some non conventional compositions.

" They are the elementary parts needed for making firearms, Miss Felicia. What you don't know is that Claire Leau and Vanessa Glühe are working on different projects and that she's the more popular one. I'm more intent on making weapons that do more than just-" She picked up a barrel made of copper and mimicked a shooting pose.

" Point-Trigger-Kill." Claire smirked at her own thoughts.

" So yeah, I needed someone to help me with assembling these. It can make most common weapons and heck, maybe even some hybrids." She shook suddenly from feeling a bit of nausea for stupid reasons.

And minutes later, Felicia had done with the most effective possibilities with the possible parts at disposal inside the box and she had done with her feelings of melancholy. Claire was munching down on some more donuts which she felt privileged to snag from the munch counter and she continued to do so.

By the time Felicia and her accomplice on the assembly was done, they headed to the shooting range at last after Claire ran across the place and slid to a halt at her desk, cursing at Finn and rushing back with another box made up of teak.

Felicia clicked the safety down and slid out the empty magazine. She eyed the barrel for any defective rounds and kept it down on the table, donning a muffler on her ears.

" let it all out..." She said to herself, as Claire also took a silencer and looked at a fairly popular model, a Desert Eagle and chuckled, nervousness seething out.

" You do know that you can't put a suppressor on that, right? Why do you even have a Deagle with you?" Felicia looked back and let down the muffler back and loaded the new handgun she had with a new magazine that was filled and slid it down the side.

Her vision came into a focus as she pulled back the slide and cocked it.

The already dim surroundings came to a null void of sound as she eyed the muzzle, letting the hammer loose.

*PHAM*

The container popped out the shell as it clanged against the ground, proof that the bullet had been set on its trajectory. The bullet pierced the air and landed right outside the innermost circle and fell to the ground after hitting the wall.

The huntress let out an exasperated sigh as Claire handed her the Deagle.

" I told you, the suppressor won't work." But she was greeted with a confident grin and a look that said to check the actions before words.

And so she did.

She noticed that it only had the one bullet in the chamber and no magazine in the gun.

With a sigh, she slid the gun and looked for a safety to disarm.

Felicia didn't find one.

And she looked at the one eating her last donut why it was so.

" Oh, he doesn't like it with a safety. He's sure that he doesn't need a safety of any kind. Just for when he uses autos." She casually replied like it was obvious.

" Huh." And she let the hammer loose once again as memories turned to a flip book of the past, deceiving herself that it was in the past when it clearly wasn't.

It shattered the barrel made of a major part of copper as it exploded with a metallic boom as Claire threw the half eaten snack and rushed over with a exhilarating expression of shock.

Because her so called silenced Desert Eagle exploded in front of her own eyes, splattering it's contents around the radius of its blast.

" Told you." Felicia yanked out the shrapnel wedged in from her palm and bit her lip.

But Claire was mumbling rapidly.

" -ereitssupposedtobewithchriswhysisthishappeninghesgonnagetkilledorworsehesgonnacomekillmesoonohnoineedtogetoutfromthisplac-" But was stopped by a pat to he shoulder.

" CLAIRE!"

The lady screamed suddenly and finally noticed the blood on her colleague's hands.

" You're bleeding!" Claire doubled over and threw up all the intake she had over the course of that morning into a nearby bin, almost crawling there.

" I thought you weren't scared of blood."

" WELL I AM!" She shot back once she finished her business.

And when she calmed down, they rounded up the pieces and disposed of them, heading back through the reception and through the canteen for obvious reasons as Kale called for a certain Felicia Jäeger and that she had herself a package.

" Who is it from, Kale?" She asked him as he just said that it arrived about an hour ago and it wasn't something to worry as they didn't get any bomb vibes from it.

" Okay..." Felicia wasn't reassured.

And when they reached Claire's block with the three boxes, Felicia proceeded to open the package.

" It's...a...phone...?" She muttered to Claire as she looked over with an interested look and freaked out.

" FINNNNNN!" She yelled as all the staff looked at them and when they realized it was Claire, they resumed to their work.

Finn looked over his board and looked annoyed.

" I know I smell like sh*t, Claire you don't need to remind me every two hours."

" Oh wow, he must be used to you..." A thought ran over Felicia's head.

But as soon as she looked at him, he knew it was serious.

He walked with a stiff figure as he leaned over, seeing the package.

" Oh God, he's back, ain't he? And why is he sending out this?"

" No sh*t. I'll throw it in his face if that was me. It's our new friend here." She threw a thumb at Felicia who looked confused.

" Who? What's that confusing about a phone? Who sent it?" She raised a question.

Claire just turned the phone on and showed her the message ding on as if she knew it was going to happen from the start.

Hey, Miss. Or is this Claire? Hello nevertheless. This is the number I'm gonna contact you from now onwards.
-Your sincere/not so much partner.

(PS: Thank you CLAIRE. The gun REALLY did great)

" Chris f*cking Canner." Finn said in a deep tone, more serious than she ever heard him since she joined the Dias.

" I really wish you luck, Feli." Claire said with a condolence racked tone.

" Okay, who's this Chris?"

" We would prefer to let you find our yourself." Finn waved at her and walked back.
