Chapter twelve
It's safe to say the plan fell apart almost immediately.
And it was entirely The McCall pack's fault.
At the start, they followed the directions they were given but that stopped almost immediately as they got distracted by a passing person.
Since the survivors weren't answering their questions, why not ask someone else?
Seems lucky was not on their side because the person they asked happened to be a WICKED worker, one who was high up in the company and he immediately knew something was wrong.
He used his Walkie-Talkie to upgrade the security, which Thomas and the others noticed immediately.
He signed to Minho who then notified the others on his ear piece. "New plan. Harriet, you still take care of the outer security, but do so quickly and plant the bombs when you're done. Gally, Jorge, and Vince will still kill the inside guards but Brenda goes with Fry and Sonya to watch Aris' back. Got it?"
He heard various confirmations. "Then go."
Brenda led the way, carefully checking around corners and down hallways, making sure no one was there, before leading Aris and Sonya with Fry bringing up the rear. They had no trouble apart from the soldiers that ran by them to up the security outside.
That was, until they reached the last hallway containing the computer room.
There, there were five guards in front of the door, and two on either side of the corridor.
"Shit," Brenda whispered, quickly ducking behind the corner again. "Alright, here's the plan. I'll take the middle guards. Sonya, you sneak around the other side and take out those guys over there. Fry, you guard Aris." They nodded, and at Brenda's hand signal, they did their assignment.
Sonya kept low, going back the way they came and instead of turning left, towards the entrance and turned right, looping around the corner and coming up behind the guards on that side of the hallway.
She heard gunshots being fired as she walked the empty hallway parallel to the security hall, indicating that Brenda had taken care of the soldiers closest to her. The blonde girl made sure her safety was off on her gun before rounding the corner and shooting the two guards, them dropping next to the other dead guards.
Once the corridor was clear, all four survivors emerged fully, heading for the only door visible.
"Get it open," Brenda ordered Aris, holding her gun tightly and staring at both entrances.
Aris hurried, knowing that more WICKED agents would likely be here shortly. Once inside, he set to work on the computers, his hands flying across the keyboard as his eyes darted from side to side on the screen.
Within minutes, the red light by the door was turned off and the cameras on the screens to the right had stopped working. With three final clicks and buttons, all the computers had shut off and they were heading back towards the rendezvous.
Only once were they almost caught, but Brenda took the chance to shoot the scientist before they even registered there were intruders.
Finally at the meeting point, they could take a breath and relax, but it didn't last long as they started to worry about the others.

Harriet steadied her rifle on her shoulder from where she was perched on a construction machine that was shut off.
Taking careful aim, she targeted the guards on the wall first, watching in satisfaction as they toppled over, catching the attention of others, who quickly followed. Their grunts of surprise or pain - she couldn't tell - made her fill with pride, glad she could help her friends on the inside without being in there.
As the final soldier fell from his watching post, Harriet checked her bullets, refilling them before moving her focus towards the open windows of the WICKED facility.
If she could pick off one or two scientists - or bodyguards - then she could save a life, hopefully a friend's.
She shot one of two, but by then, they had learned that they should stay away from the windows.
She grabbed the duffel bag at her feet, and climbed down the machine, moving to the base of the WICKED facility. She moved around the perimeter of the building, placing as many bombs as she had and setting them up to detonate when she used a remote.
Finally done, she headed to meet up with the others at the rendezvous.

Gally split from Jorge and Vince when they didn't let him kill anyone, claiming he's 'too young to have that trauma' as if he hadn't killed before.
Nothing could surpass the guilt he felt for killing Chuck...
The most he could do is distract himself.
That's what he was doing right now, killing any WICKED worker he lays eyes on.
Maybe this wasn't the best way to cope, but seeing as these shanks are the reason he has been through so much, he thinks it's a reasonable way to handle things.
He just wished he could lay his hands on the leaders of this hell whole, but he thinks Thomas should be the one to deal with them, if they're alive.
He scoured the top three floors, Jorge and Vince on the floors below before heading down to the exit, taking out any employees that they might have missed.
He had no problem getting to the rendezvous, the problem was waiting for the final group to come back.

Thomas and Minho had a much harder time accomplishing their mission, though they had no trouble getting down to the basement.
The only door in the hallway was unlocked due to Aris shutting the security system down and they walked through, staying on guard as they emerged in a room with a screen, a security camera set up, multiple computers, several hospital beds, complete with monitors and handcuffs and a small, locked room in the back corner.
The hold on their guns tightened as they raised them, pointing the weapons at the man that had just emerged from a small door to the side that both runners had failed to notice until now.
The man had graying hairs, much grayer than they had been the last time the boys had laid eyes on the man, the last time they hoped to see him. He had a longer beard and more wrinkles on his face.
His eyes had a made look in his eyes; clearly he hadn't fully recovered from the crank bite.
In all his non-existent glory, there stood Janson, the remaining leader of WICKED and the Ratman himself.
