Chapter eleven

The topic of Thomas having/being the cure didn't come up again that day, and the sun set, darkness coming soon after.

As they were not near a fallen structure, and they knew that the cranks usually huddled around buildings, they opted to stay in the middle of nowhere, huddled together, the survivors closer than the pack.

Minho kept having flashbacks from the last time they had slept like this, the time he woke up to Thomas shouting something about lights and a lighting storm following causing them to run towards the lights without knowing if they were danger and him getting struck by lightning.

Though, they did meet Brenda and Jorge so at least something good came out of it.

Fry voiced his thoughts, saying, "Minho, remember last time we were like this and you got struck by lightning?"

Minho laughed sarcastically. "Yes, Fry, I do."

"Wait-wait," Scott interrupted.

"You were electrocuted?!" Liam exclaimed.

"Yes."

"How did you even survive?"

"Uhh, luck?" Minho was so over this conversation. "Can we please talk about something else?"

"Yeah, like what's the game plan?" Malia asked.

"We might get to the lost city tomorrow night, if you guys can keep up, and we'll discuss more there."

"Why don't you have a real plan?" Scott asks, as if he were the one to always think of a plan.

"Because we need to assess the situation," Vince explains calmly.

"What does that mean?"

"It means we don't know how much the city has changed. We also don't know what kind of security they have and if they have upgraded their weapons. This kind of thing can't be rushed."

Scott thought about how many plans the pack had come up with last minute and how many had failed versus how many have succeeded. He had to agree with Vince's argument. "Fine."

He didn't say another word and turned over, shutting his eyes as he heard his pack do the same.

Thomas woke do to the rising sun in his eyes. It was barely above the horizon but he was a light sleeper.

He raised a hand to shield this face from the sun and stared up at the brightening sky, waiting a few minutes before he felt Brenda shift beside him.

The short haired girl groaned out of announce that the sun had woken her from her somewhat peaceful sleep. "I hate the sun," she mumbled, turning her face into Frypan's (who was laying on his side with his back to the sun) back.

He shifted but didn't wake up.

Minho rolled over and laid face down, his forehead on the ground to push his head up so he can breathe.

Apparently, Thomas was the only one that was ready to wake up.

Complaining was heard from where the pack slept, and Thomas decided that they had wasted enough daylight.

He shoved Brenda into Fry causing him to roll and face plant in the sand. Fry, still not fully awake and confused on who pushed him, retaliated by hitting Brenda's shoulder, causing her to fall on her back.

Thomas let them push each other around, resulting in Gally, Aris and Jorge waking up. Minho heard the commotion and titled his head, watching the fight through barley open eyes.

Gally shoved Aris and he tripped over Sonya and Harriet who were huddled together. Harriet got up and tackled him.

There, Thomas thought. Everyone is awake.

He looked over at the pack to see them mostly still asleep. Or just lying there with no motivation to get up.

"Get up!" He shouted at them, and they grumbled, but listened.

We have a long day of walking ahead of us, he signed to his group, before tilting his head at the pack to get them to translate.

Let's go.

Over the past two days there had been many, many complaints followed by threats.

Along with that, Scott's condition had gotten worse; his whole hand was now black and cold and he couldn't do anything with it. It was staring to affect his werewolf abilities, his claws on the other hand was harder to control, they kept coming out at random times.

Thomas couldn't look at his hand without picturing the arm of his favorite blonde boy. He was tempted to give Scott the cure, just to prevent the people who cared about him a lot of pain — no one should go through that much — but then he thought of all the times he had been mistreated and went back to not wanting to give him the cure.

No one brought up the subject other than to ask Scott how he was doing.

The good news was that now they knew there was nothing they could do and would let the Gladers and Scorchers do whatever they could to kill them with little complaints.

They had traveled all the way to the outskirts of where the last city was and saw the remains of the wall being rebuilt.

The survivors took the time to access the situation while the pack took the tome to sit and rest.

"We can do this," Sonya said reassuringly.

Only some believed her words.

Now back in the room they planned in the last time they were there, they were thinking of a plan.

The experienced ones were ignoring the supernaturals who didn't understand what was going on as they discussed an approach they could do.

So far they had three steps.

1. Sneak into the half-built WICKED building.

2. Find and Kill Ratman

3. Blow it to bits once again

It's basic steps but they were working on the detail.

"From what we saw, there were very little guards on the wall, so that part should be easy," Minho stated, making sure Thomas could read his lips clearly.

"If WICKED has learned from the last time, I guarantee that everything we need and want is in the basement, meaning more security," Gally said.

Thomas took charge. Here's the plan. Aris, you will shut down the security with Sonya and Fry guarding you. Harriet, you take care of the outer security then place these bombs on the outer perimeter. He gestured to a duffel bag full of bombs laid by his feet. Where he got those, no one knows.  Gally, Jorge, Vince, Brenda, you can have as much fun as you want while killing every WICKED worker you see. Minho, your with me to look for Ratman. He didn't need to mention that they were also going to look for Newt.

Everyone agreed to the plan and the pack had to mention they had no idea what was going on. Thomas could easily guess what they were complaining about and simply stated that they were to stay far enough away that they could be unharmed when the bombs go off.

They put up a fight but eventually agreed, thought they went to a corner to talk quietly amongst themselves.

The plan was set and waiting for it to be in motion.

Uhh I really don't know if the plan is a good plan or not but whatever
