Epilogue
As soon as everyone boarded into the Aureum space ship, the golden sunrise, they can see some of the Aureum preparing to enter the facility. Nurib left the group to talk to the commander, despite the fact that Christine wanted to ask him a question. Then the team split off from the Aureum scientists when the soldiers escorted them to a separate hall, in which it leads into the living quarters. Meanwhile, the two soldiers who were escorting Auriga had to take him to the asylum, so he can get the help for his insanity.
"Here you are, this is living quarters. Humans like you can stay until we reach our next destination" said one Aureum soldier, it was as if he was having a rough time speaking in English.
John, Valerie, and Christine went into their separate rooms. Inside Christine's room, there is only a bed and a window for her to see outside. Perhaps the same thing for John and Valerie's room, presumably the Aureum were sparse for decorating rooms.
Christine sat on her bed as she removed her helmet, and she wondered where the ship is going to for next destination. It didn't take long until Nurib enters her room, which surprised her.
"Oh! Nurib, I wondered where you went" she said.
"I spoken to the commander of the squadron, and he said as soon as the squadron is deployed to the facility, this ship will go to my home colony to keep you humans safe" he answered.
"That's good, at least you'll be able to go home" she said with optimism.
"Outsiders of any Aureum owned colony are welcome to trade and/or stop and rest for travels, but they can never take residence. That is one of the laws of my people, as it is illegal for any outsider to take residence in one of the colonies" he explained.
"There's something I would like to tell you: I love you!" She said.
Nurib started to blush, before regaining his composure.
"I too started to develop these feelings for you, and marriages between an Aureum and a human is possible. There's one flaw: if an Aureum were to be married to a member of any race, their spouses can never live with them in one of the colonies" he explained again.
"Then what will I do? If I were to be married to you, I wouldn't be able to stay in your home colony" she questioned.
"You and I can take residence in your kinds home world, or... drink my blood" he said.
"W-what?" She said in a confused tone.
"Any human were to drink the blood of an Aureum shall turn into one, because the Aureum blood has a chemical compound that overwrites your genetic code and you will transform into a member of my kind" he explained.
Christine felt scared, wondering what were the consequences if she were to drink his blood. She could take the chance and become a member of the Aureum, but at the same time, she felt scared of what John and Valerie will think of her. Not to mention of the possibilities of her not being able to go back to Earth.
"I'll give you time to think, in the meantime, I will go and train" he said before leaving the room.
Ten minutes later
Nurib entered the training room, and he took off his armored space suit thus leaving him wearing only underwear. Then he put on a headset that shows only images that he has to repeat, and he turned on a small peculiar orb with a small disc on it. The orb floated in mid air, thus starting his training.
"Now initiating training mode" said the robotic voice from within the headset.
The first thing he sees is an image of a fist, so he throw a punch. Then he sees an image of a foot, it means to kick, and he kicked the air. Each time he repeated the images he saw, it gets faster. He punch when he was supposed to kick, causing the orb to shoot a laser at his neck. He grunted in pain, but the laser didn't leave a hole, it only left a red spot that stings his skin. He tried to continue, but each time he gets it wrong, the orb shot him in the chest and to the head. It caused him nothing but pain as the lasers stings his skin, until he immediately took off the headset, and grabbed the orb to turn it off. Next thing he sees, is none other than Christine who was standing there watching him.
"Is this how your people train? In your undies?" She asked.
"More or less" he responded with a blush.
She walked towards him, and she saw several red spots of where the orb was shooting lasers at him. When she poked one of the red spots, he grunted in pain.
"Does it hurt?" She asked.
"Yes! It stings my skin, but pain is a part of training!" He answered while trying not to yell in pain.
"I've made up my mind, and I've told my teammates. I will become a member of your people" she said.
Nuribs pained expression changed to a look of surprise, then he nodded as a response.
"Are you sure that's your answer? You know, once you become a member of my kind, you won't be able to wear footwear that isn't reinforced" he questioned.
Christine nodded as her response, she was dead serious with her answer. Leaving him with no choice, Nurib picked up a piece of sharp metal from the remains of an explosive, and he made a small cut on his arm. Then he immediately picked up a small glass cut so his reddish orange blood can drip into, once it filled half full, he quickly hands her the cup before getting a bandage to stop the bleeding.
Christine looked at the glass cup that contained Nuribs blood, it looked like rusty water at first glance, but then she took a swig of it. It has an awful taste (it tasted like old sauerkraut and iron), and then she coughs the moment she has finished drinking. She felt queasy and suddenly itchy, she took off her glove part of her space suit and saw that her hand turned pink.
Nurib watched as her brown hair slowly turned into a golden color, the skin on her face turned pink, and her once blue eyes changed into a golden color and glows. He was right that the moment that Christine had drink his blood, she now has transformed into an Aureum. He is at a loss for words, but felt a bit happy.
"How do you feel?" He asked.
"I feel sick, but I'm fine" Christine answered.
"Come on, let's go back to the room. The ship will leave as soon as it takes John's ship into it's hangar" he said.
Nurib and Christine headed back to the room, but her boots break into pieces in each step. It left her bare foot, but she couldn't care less. After all, she is now an Aureum.
Authors note: this is the end of this book, but don't worry, there will be a "where are they now?" Page that shows after the events of this book.
