S Y N O P S I S

　　ON THE TWELFTH HOUR OF THE FIRST DAY OF OCTOBER, 1986, FORTY-THREE WOMEN AROUND THE WORLD GAVE BIRTH. This was unusual only in the fact that none of these women had been pregnant when the day first began. Sir Reginald Hargreeves, eccentric billionaire and adventurer, resolved to adopt as many of the children as possible. He got nine of them.

　　Everett Hargreeves was one of these children. Number Eight, in fact. Aside from his powers, there was only one thing that made Everett stand apart from the rest of his adoptive siblings, for out of the forty-three women who gave birth on that fateful Autumn day, his mother was the only one who gave birth to twins. And yes, Reginald Hargreeves triple-checked this fact, a thorough man he was, before paying a fortune to adopt them.

　　In the years following their mysterious birth, Everett and his twin sister, Estelle, were studied closely by their adoptive father, who hoped to discover what made them different from everyone else. If Reginald Hargreeves ever found an answer, he didn't share it with his children. Though, of course, he had never shared much of anything with his children that he didn't have to in order to shape them into the perfect superheroes.

　　The first chance he got, Everett left his adoptive family, choosing to live his life on his own accord. To make choices for himself, to train and save people as he saw fit, to do whatever he wanted with his life, as he no longer had to obey every word that came out of the mouth of Reginald Hargreeves. While it wasn't entirely perfect, Everett found himself a comfortable home with his twin sister, the two of them finding a semblance of peace now that they were free from the shackles of their adoptive father.

　　Neither of them heard from their adopted family since they left, nor had they seen any members of the Hargreeves family since that last day at the Umbrella Academy. Allison's face was really the only one they saw nowadays, but that's just because she became a famous actress and had her face plastered everywhere. Yeah, an actress. Apparently, the twins hadn't been the only ones to leave their family to start a life of their own.

　　Just when things start to feel normal for them, for once in their lives, they find an unlikely stranger with an eyepatch on their doorstep who wants them to join a team of superheroes that he's putting together. Although they are hesitant to join another team of superheroes after what happened the first time, the threat is imminent and the Hargreeves twins find themselves unable to say no — even if it would lead to chaos and calamity.

　　But you see, Everett was no stranger to chaos. Having grown up as not only a twin but a Hargreeves, it was common for him to experience a little bit of chaos from time to time. And while it was overwhelming to encounter Gods and literally save the world from an alien invasion, none of that could have prepared him for the beautiful chaos of the Scarlet Witch herself.
