Wells and Anchors
Melanie was asleep when she felt someone start jumping on her bed. Melanie groaned, figuring it was Belle and hid under the blankets more. "Leave me alone, Belle." Melanie groaned and the body jumped one more time before landing in a sitting position at the foot of her bed.
"Not Belle." The voice sang and Melanie peaked her head out of the blanket, giving Mason a tired and confused look. "How the hell do you know where I live?"
Suddenly another body fell onto the bed, landing directly on top of Melanie, making her groan. "We went to Belle's, and she told us where you lived." Liam said, rolling off of Melanie, leaning up, resting his head on his arm as he laid on his side beside her.
"Why were you at Belle's?" Melanie asked and Mason sighed. "Well, Liam and I always do some running on Saturday mornings so we thought since you two are our friends now you would want to come along."
Melanie chuckled, giving Mason raised brows and a smirk. "And how did Belle react to that?" Liam chuckled as his eyes fell on her wolf stuffed animal. He quickly placed it on his chest and lifted up its arms, making it dance.
Mason sighed. "She said, and I quote, "I don't run so leave me the hell alone" So we asked her where you lived and told us it was the second window on he left side of the house and that you leave the window unlocked, which I may safe is very unsaf- OW!" Mason yelped, his rambles getting cut off my Melanie throwing a pillow at his face, making Liam laugh.
Melanie slowly sat up, groaning. She squinted at all the lights on in her room and pointed to her window. "Get out. I'll go change." Mason smiled, climbing out of Melanies room as Liam stayed on her bed beside her. "I like your room. And your bed is comfy." Liam muttered doing a snow angel and Melanie slowly looked down at him.
Liam looked up at Melanie, the wolf plush still sitting on his chest as he sent her a small smile. Melanie felt herself smiling back and him before she nudged her head to her window. "Get out of my room." She said giggling and Liam nodded, getting up and climbing out of the window.
...
"It's not just that we were friends with them. They were using us for their cover. I mean, professional killers were using us. How are you two not freaking out about that?" Mason asked as they ran and Melanie shrugged.
"I wasn't really friends with them. The only freshman I'm friends with are you two and Belle."
Suddenly, Liam ran passed the two. Melanie quickly sped up to run beside him.
When Liam finally stopped, Melanie went beside him, resting her hands on her knees as she tried to breathe. "Jesus Christ, Liam. When did you become the flash?"
A car came out of no where, hitting the two teens. Melanie hit the ground with a groan, curling into a ball as Liam hissed in pain a few feet away from her. She heard someone get out of the car and slowly looked up, panic filling her at Garret walking towards them.
...
Melanie woke up to the feeling of water splashing on her face. Melanie spit water out of her mouth and slowly opened her eyes, making Liam let out a relieved sigh.
"Oh thank God. I was starting to get worried." Liam breathed out as Melanie took in her surroundings. She and Liam were trapped in a well.
"Did Garret trap us in hear?" Melanie asked, her voice barely above a whisper as she shivered from the cold water they were in.
Liam looked up at her with worried eyes, slowly nodding. "Yeah... He said that he's gonna use us as bait to try and get Scott here. But if he doesn't show up by tonight..."
Melanie straightened up at Liam not finishing his sentence. "What? What's gonna happen?"
Liam bit his lip as he sighed. "He's gonna kill you for your 6 million instead."
Melanie let out a shaky breath, looking up when Liam winced. She quickly turned back to face him, worry filling her up as he held his hands to his stomach. "What happened?"
Liam looked up at her, shaking his head as if it was to say it was no big deal but Melanie was already pulled in, wanting to no what happened. Liam sighed. "He stabbed me."
Melanie was now right in front of Liam, their chest close to touching as she slowly looked up at him. "May I?" Liam bit his lip, lifting up his shirt so Melanie could see the stab wound.
He heard her heart skip in panic, making him quickly turn to face her. "What? Is it bad?"
"Wolfsbane." Melanie whispered as she started slowly shaking her head, shaking it faster and faster as realization set in. "I can't... I cant heal you when theirs wolfsbane." She whispered and Liam took a step towards her.
"Why?" Melanies eyes stayed on the cut, her head still barely shaking. "If I close you wound, there'll be no way to get the wolfsbane out of your system. When it gets to your heart... It'll kill you. If we wait until Scott shows up-" "If Scott shows up." Liam interrupted, making Melanie quickly glare at him before continuing.
"When Scott shows up, he can take you to Deaton where he can take out the wolfsbane." Melanie said and Liam sighed, looking up at the top of the well. "Should we try to climb?"
Melanie snickered, shaking her head. "Oh no. I might be able to run but I can't climb." Liam looked up, letting out a big huff before climbing, making Melanies jaw drop.
"Wait, you're serious?" Melanie asked, moving off the well wall as Liam got up a few feet. "You thought I was joking? We need to get out of here, Mel."
She sighed, crossing her arms over her chest as she watched Liam get higher and higher up the wall and Melanie actually believed he could make it to the top.
And then Liam fell.
Melanie yelped when the water splashed her as if he had jumped into a pool. Liams head rose from the water as he groaned and Melanie could hear a small growl in his groan.
He jumped at the wall across from Melanie. Growling as he punched it over and over again. Melanie shot up, pushing herself off the wall and went to grabbed Liams hands.
"What the hell are you doing?!" Melanie yelped as she finally got ahold of Liams bloody hands. She sighed, slightly shaking her head as she hid his knuckles in her hands and closed her eyes to heal them.
Liam sighed, his eyes still slightly yellow and his fangs still popped as he watched Melanie heal him. "My dad... He says when kids get angry they deal with it in one of two ways. They either hurt themselves or they hurt someone else."
Melanie looked up at him and quickly took in his wolfed out expression. "Dude, why are you still... wolfie?" Liam shook his head as if it would make his fangs and yellow eyes go away but it didn't. "I haven't fully controlled it yet." He muttered disappointedly and Melanie shrugged, finishing up healing one of his hands. "Okay, well... what's your anchor?"
"My what?" Liam asked and Melanie's face dropped. "Oh my God. That's literally werewolf 101 and Scott hasn't taught you that yet." Melanie let out in a annoyed grumble and Liam creased his brows. "Well, what is it? What's my anchor?"
Melanie pulled her lips into a line as she tried to figure out a way to explain it before looking up at him. "Um... okay. Well an anchor for a werewolf is something or someone that keeps you from wolfing out. Keeps you grounded." Liam nodded as Melanie continued, poking his chest. "You find that... and it'll be a lot easier to control yourself."
Melanie looked down at her and Liams hands, Liams hands fully healed, making Melanie smile, showing Liam like a proud little kid with a trophy they won. Liam laughed at her excitement as his eyes started going back to their normal blue as his fangs slowly disappeared to normal teeth.
...
Back and forth, Liam and Melanie tried to climb up the well and every single time, one of them would get so close to the top before falling.
The two were growing desperate on a way to get out and somehow, they came up with the stupidest plan that they actually tried to believe would work.
Their idea was that one of them started climbing the wall and as soon as there was enough room, the second person would start climbing right after them. Liam claimed that the person who would be going first would make themselves keep going so they didn't fall on and hurt the person under them and once they reached the top they could just lift the second person out.
So of course, since Liam was the main mastermind of the plan, he went first. Melanie going a few feet after him.
Just like they had many times before, the two almost reached to the top before it all went down hill. Liam was about to take another step up when his fingers started shaking. Melanie noticed, quickly shaking her head. "No! No! Oh My God! Don't let go! I swear to God, Liam! You are not turning me into a pancake!"
Just as Liam was about to fall on Melanie, a hand grabbed his, carrying him out. Melanie sighed, looking up and she immediately smiled at Belle leaning over the edge of the well, her arm out for Melanie to grab. "Oh thank God."
As soon as Melanie was out of the well, she was pulled into a tight hug by Belle. "What happened to you and Liam today... is why I don't run."
Melanie laughed, shaking her head slightly as Scott walked up with Liam. "You two okay?" Scott asked, wrapping his arms around both Liam and Melanie. The girl nodded, giving a small smile that made Scott let out a breath of relief. "Good. Because your sister would kill me."
