Badass

After getting drenched in gasoline at school, Scott took the three freshman to his house to clean themselves up. Melanie barely walked out of the restroom after her shower. She was in a sweatshirt and leggings, drying off her hair with a towel when Scott practically ran passed her to get out of the house.

"Woah, woah. Wait. Where are you going?" Melanie yelled, catching Belle and Liams attention from the couch.

"Kira found Brett. They're fine but we've got to go." Scott said, not looking back at the three. "More assassins?" Belle asked and Scott nodded. "Maybe a lot more."

"Different than the ones who just tried to set us on fire?" Liam asked, stopping in his spot as the two girls continued after Scott, not noticing he stopped moving yet.

"I think so, yeah." Scott said, finally turning around to the three, slowing his steps at Liam. Melanie and Belle turned around, noticing his worried face. Melanie walked over to Liam, giving him a small smile. "How about we take you home?"

Liam looked to Melanie before turning to Scott who was standing beside Belle, shaking his head. "I'm not like you." "Not yet." Scott said and Liam sighed.

"I don't mean I'm not strong or I'm never gonna learn how to be in control. I mean everything else. You guys try to protect everyone. Have you been doing this the whole time? I mean, how are you all still alive?"

Belle visibly froze at the last question, having been friends with the youngest Argent. She quickly swallowed the lump in her throat, slowly looking to Liam. "Not all of us are."

Melanie looked down sadly as Scott walked up to Liam, putting an hand on his shoulder. "Let me at least take you home."

...

Melanie practically ran into the clinic when she and Scott got there after dropping Belle and Liam off at their houses. As soon as Kira heard the door open, she ran into the room and as soon as she saw Melanie, she ran over to her, pulling her into a hug. "Is mom..." "She's okay. Healing." Kira muttered, running a hand through Melanie's hair as Scott walked over to them. "What about you?"

Kira pulled away from Melanie, hugging Scott. "Me?" "Are you okay?" Scott asked and Kira chuckled, looking back and forth between her boyfriend and her sister. "Right now? Very."

Scott nodded. "Did you find him? Did you find Brett?" Kira let out a breathy laugh, nodding her head. "Actually, I think I found all of them." Kira walked towards the back room of the clinic.

"Satomi, this is who I was telling you about." Kira said, rubbing Scott's shoulder. Melanie smiled at the woman she had heard many stories of from her mother. "I know who Scott McCall is." Satomi said before smiling at the youngest Yukimura.

"Are we safe here?" Lori, Brett's sister asked. Melanie looked around at the room full with Satomi's pack. Scott nodded at the girls question. "But we're gonna need help. A lot of help."

...

Melanie went with Scott and Kira to take to Satomi's pack to Argent's warehouse. Melanie could barely keep her eyes open from her long day, Kira noticed and pulled her into her side. "Get some sleep."

Melanie looked up to Kira with furrowed brows. "What?" Kira sent her a soft smile, grabbing Melanie's head gently and placing her on her shoulder. "Scott's told me about your day. Get some rest. I'll wake you up if anything happens."

Melanie nodded, hugging into Kira more before letting out a tied breath. "I've missed you." Kira smiled, scooting closer to Melanie, wrapping her arms around her. "I've missed you too."

...

Melanie had only been asleep for about an hour when she woke up to Scott screaming. "Wait! Wait! Brett! This is his place. It's his."

Melanie looked around, Kira had already pulled her off and went to Scott before she woke up. Melanie quickly got up to stand beside Scott, Kira and Brett. "Scott... If you bring in guests, you could have called." Chris said, lowering his gun.

"I didn't have anywhere else to take them." Scott shrugged when someone walked up behind Melanie, placing a hand in her shoulder. "I know this man. He may not remember, but we've met before." Satomi said, her hand staying on Melanies shoulder.

Melanie nodded, turning to the woman. "You can trust him." Scott nodded with Melanie. "I trust him." Satmoi looked to Melanie worriedly. "How do we know he's not like the others?"

"What others?" Chris asked, whipping his head to Satomi. Kira took a step towards him, taking an arrow out of her pocket. "Last night, there was a whole team after them. And they used crossbows." Chris took the arrow out of Kira's hand and Melanie by her lip in worry. "They're hunters, aren't they?"

Chris looked up at Melanie, slowly shaking his head. "Not if they're killing for profit. Not anymore."

"Can they find us?" Lori asked, still sitting on the ground near where Melanie was once sleeping. Chris turned to the girl and hummed. "They might already know you're here. Maybe they're waiting for dark."

"So we're not safe here?" Melanie asked quietly. Satomi squeezed the girls shoulder, turning to her. "We're not safe anywhere. We've been trying to get out for days. Everywhere we turn, we find someone new trying to kill us."

Chris turned to Scott with raised brows. "If they're coming, Scott, they're coming for you too. You're still number one on the dead pool." He turned to Kira and Melanie, nodding his head to them. "You two are on there as well. They'll be after you too." Scott shook his head, taking a step towards Chris. "I know. I know Lydia can get the answer from Meredith. She just needs more time."

Chris looked in between the three, nodding. "Then that's what she'll get."

...

"They'll be okay." Scott reassured after Derek and Braeden came over to check over Satomi's pack and to help fight the hunters on their way. "They've got claws and fangs. But they're not fighters." Derek mumbled.

"That's why I called you." Scott said, making Derek let out a dry chuckle. "Well, try to remember I don't have claws and fangs anymore either." "That's why he called me." Braeden said as Kira shook her head, looking in between the three.

"Are Mel and I the only one still hoping this is all just a false alarm? I mean, it's possible we could wait here all night and nothing happens. Right?" Kira asked, Melanie slowly grabbing her hand for comfort as no one answered her question, Braeden turning to Scott.

"Scott, you heard anything from Stiles or Lydia yet?" "Lydia's still talking to Meredith. Stiles and Malia are headed to the lake house. They're trying to stop it." The boy quickly answered.

"What if there is no stopping it?" Brett announced, walking up to the group. "What if it doesn't end until we're all dead?"

"Then let's send a message. Let's make something perfectly clear to anyone with a copy of that list. It doesn't matter if they're professional assassins, hunters, or an amateur who just picked up a gun. Anyone who thinks they can hunt and kill us for money, is gonna be put on another list. Our list. They get to be a name on our dead pool." Derek yelled as he loaded his gun.

Melanie had a wide smile as she stared at Derek, nodding her head. "Badass"

...

Melanie sat beside Satomi. The woman had decided to talk with the younger girl, telling her many stories that Melanie just soaked up, absolutely adoring as Chris Argent walked up to the pair, stuffing his hands in his pockets as he looked to Satomi. "I remember meeting you, but you weren't a Buddhist back then."

The woman smirked, lifting an eyebrow as she looked up to the man. "And you weren't protecting werewolves. You were hunting them."

Chris shifted the weight on his feet as he squinted his eyes at her. "Three things cannot long be hidden... The sun. The moon. The truth. What exactly does that mean?"

Melanie turned to Satomi, growing intrigued herself. "The truth cannot stay hidden." Chris shook his head, looking towards the ground. "I know what the saying means. What does it mean for you?"

Satomi smiled. "The truth for me is that we, my kind, are violent creatures, who eventually will not be able to control their violent impulses. The mantra helps us subdue our nature." Melanie nodded at the woman's words as Chris raised his brows. "But you're still violent creatures."

Satomi sent the man a chilling smile, shrugging her shoulders. "Aren't we all?"

Suddenly, the alarms around the building started beeping rapidly, Melanie's head shot up, looking around the room to look for Kira as she made her katana appear in her hand. "They're coming." Chris mumbled, loading his gun as the hunters ran into the room.

Melanie felt the two adults push her back behind them protectively as she gripped the handle of her katana tighter, looking around for any hunters coming at her.

Her eyes fell on a hunter running towards her with just a pistol all alone. She quickly slammed her katana down onto his wrist, not chopping it off but cutting him deep enough to drop his gun from pain.

The man reached into his holster, pulling out another pistol that Melanie instantly tried to whack out of his hand but he had a tight grip on it.

Melanie didn't notice to men coming up behind her as she fought the one in front of her. Just before the men could attack her, Brett ran over, clawing and slashing them as Melanie stabbed the man she had been fighting through the stomach.

She tried to catch her breath as she ran a hand through her hair, turning to Brett. "Thanks." She breathed out, the boy just nodding before grabbing her by the elbow, pulling her towards a different side of the room.

As they walked through one of the tarps, they stood face to face with Scott who was quick to point at them. "Get the others back. Tell them to hide."

Brett nodded, going to run as Melanie stopped, turning to the alpha. "Scott!"

Scott turned around and Melanie sent her a pleasing look. "Find my sister." Scott looked at her for a few seconds before nodding his head, running away. When Melanie turned around, she was face to face with Brett. "Where are you going?" Brett asked. Melanie scoffed at the question, walking passed him. "I'm gonna help you find yours."

"Brett? Brett, where are you?" Melanie heard Lori faintly yell. Melanie stopped her tracks to try and hear where Lori was. She turned to face Brett in hopes he had heard her too but he disappeared.

"Brett!" Lori screamed. Melanie immediately ran to the sound of the girls voice. When she got to Lori, she was surrounded by two hunters. Melanie held onto her katana tighter as she ran to them. "Get behind me!" Melanie screamed and the girl quickly obliged.

The first man ran up to Melanie, having no weapons on him but a small hunting knife, the man was quick to lose the fight, Melanie stabbing him right in the belly button.

A gunshot rang through the air and Melanie suddenly felt a hot pain in her side. Melanie screamed in pain, her hand flying to her side, dropping her sword in the process.

The hunter smirked at her, taking slow strides towards her and Lori before Scott ran over, tackling him to the floor.

Lori grabbed onto Melanie, helping her sit on the ground. Once they both sat side by side with each other on the ground, Lori grabbed Melanies hand and slowly, the pain in her side started to fade away as Lori hissed in pain. Melanie shook her head, looking to Lori. "You don't have to. I'll heal."

Lori just softly smiled at the girl, shaking her head. "You saved me. Let me at least take some of your pain."

All the hunters phones started to vibrate around them. Melanie weakly grabbed the hunters ankle that had been lying down next to them and pulled it, pulling the body closer to them. Melanie slowly reached into the mans pocket and pulled out his phone where the benefactor had texted. Melanie leaned back towards Lori so they both could read the message.

All Contracts Terminated

"Oh my God. Are you okay?" Kira practically screeched at the sight of her bloody sister. Melanie slowly looked up at Kira as she helped her up. "I'm okay. Just need to rest." Kira nodded as Scott came up to the other side of Meanie to help Kira help Melanie walk.

As they made their way out of the warehouse, Kira turned to Scott and Melanie, out of breath. "Is it over? Really over?"

Melanie turned to Scott, wondering the same question and felt relief fill her up when he nodded.
