Today was finally the day. We were getting ready to go on a bus that would take us to San Francisco. And god I was nervous about all of this. I was all ready to go. Callie stopped me. "Y/n, you've got this don't worry about anything." She said to me and she hugged me.

"Thank you, I won't let you down don't worry Callie." I said to her and I then got onto our shuttle bus to get us to the airport. She then got on the bus.

"Also before anything, you remember the trauma complications on the field and in the OR?" She asked me from the front and I nodded at her.

"I remember everything." I said to her, she then got off the bus. She was glad about that. Jackson then sat next to me. I put my head on his shoulder. Alex and Meredith then got on. I was looking at all my flash cards I made. I still felt like I needed all of these. When we made it to the hotel in San Fran, we the checked in. Thankfully Jackson and I were sharing a room. We then all sat down as a group.

"How do you do that? You've been here, like, two minutes." Alex said to her, she had fallen out with a guy. Already.

"My examiner is gonna hate me, too, instantly." April said and they probably would.

"Don't psych yourself out." Cristina said. I knew that my mum was here. So I'd have to see her at some point.

"One in five people fail the boards." April said to us and she would be one of them at this rate.

"Just ignore that whole thing." I said to her with a smile and a nod.

"Fine. Psych yourself out." Cristina said to her Jackson looked at her.

"It's just a test. We've all dealt with worse. No one's bleeding out on your table. We will be fine." Jackson said and I looked at him.

"I kinda wish I did have someone on my table." I said to him and he shook his head at me. I then saw my mum stood off to the side.

"Y/n, I'm so glad to catch you before sign up. How are you feeling?" She asked me while pulling me into a hug. Which I accepted.

"I'm nervous. I want to be back in an OR." I said to her and she shook her head at me.

"You will be soon." She said to me we then witnessed Mer throwing up. "You might want to see if Meredith's okay. But I'll give you my room number come talk to me. Ask me anything." She said before walking away. I would. We the regrouped.

"Zola has the stomach flu, and you didn't say anything?" Jackson asked her, we were done for. Absolutely done for.

"How could you? Are-are you trying to sabotage us all?" April asked her and I looked at her.

"It's not like it's going to kill us." I said to her and Meredith looked at me.

"Exactly, thank you. It's not like it's the Black Plague." Meredith said to us, I hope she was ok after throwing up.

"You are supposed to be our friend." April said, she was losing this.

"Oh, April, calm down. Oh..." Mer started but Alex cut her off.

"You stay right where you are, Typhoid Mary. Come on. Let's go register." Alex said and we all went to sign up.

"Dude, is that your mom?" Alex asked Jackson and that's when I saw her.

"Baby." Catherine said as she made her way over.

"Oh, no." Jackson got out, he wasn't happy at all.

"I know. I know you don't want to see your mother before the boards. But they are wearing this old girl out. Got me examining three sessions tomorrow, and I might not see you, so I had to say good luck." She said to him before kissing his cheek.

"Ok. Thank you, Mom." Jackson said to her, he wasn't happy that she was here.

"Oh. And I brought it." She said before looking in her bag. I stood over with Alex. We were just watching this unravel.

"Mnh-mnh. No, no, that's fine. You don't..." Jackson started at her.

"It's in here somewhere." She said while she continued to look through her bag.

"That's fine. That's ok." He said to her and she looked up at him.

"That's what you always say. But you always want it in the end." She said to him and I just wanted to know what this mystery item was.

"Ok, all right. Mom, I'm good. I am." He said to her. I looked at the desk. Not much longer now.

"I'm in room 809 when you change your mind." She said before she started to walk away.

"All right." He said to her.

"All right. Excuse me." She said and she was gone. Alex looked at him.

"Mommy bring you your binky?" Alex asked him and he looked at us.

"It's my lucky pencil. She brought my lucky pencil." Jackson said to us and I looked at him.

"That's so sweet of her to do that." I said to him but by the reaction I don't think it was.

"You know this is an oral test, right?" Alex asked him and of course he did.

"Yes, I know, ok? It's just, I used it for my SATs, and my MCATs, and my intern exam." Jackson said to us and I was just surprised a pencil lasted that long. Mine always lasted a week at most.

"So it's your binky." Alex said and Jackson looked at him.

"It's...sort of like my binky, yeah." He said and I looked at him.

"And there's nothing to be ashamed of." I said and I then managed to register for my kit. As I looked around I saw someone.

"Well if it isn't Y/n." Canda said and I looked at him.

"Looks like your following me across state lines now." I said to him and he looked at me. He then noticed the ring.

"Congrats on the engagement your mom told me all about it. Did I ever tell you she's my mentor?" He asked me and I looked at him. All this time he might've been a spy.

"No she didn't but I'm happy to know that now." I said to him and Jackson looked at me. Waving me over.

"Babe, we're going to go study. You coming?" He asked me and I looked at him with a smile.

"Saved by the fiancé of course." Canda said to me and I gave him a glare.

"I'm coming." I said to him and I walked straight off we then went off to one of the rooms for revision.

"Ok, 56-year-old presents with pancreatic ductal obstruction and dilated main pancreatic duct. Post-op procedure...Yes." Jackson said as he read the card. All I needed was a break now.

"Dude, give it a rest. If we don't know it by now, we're screwed. Besides, you've got your magical pencil to see you through." Alex said and Jackson glared at him. At this point nothing was off limits.

"He's got a magic pencil? Oh, say more." Cristina said and Alex went to make a phone call. That's all he'd been doing since we got here.

"His mommy brought it." Alex said and Jackson started to shake his head.

"Wait. How magical is this pencil? And can it stop...that?" Cristina asked and I saw that April was crying. Oh great.

"I'm sorry. I'm sorry. This all just got really, really real." April said and I looked at Cristina.

"There's one gone." I said to her. She was going to be one of the twenty that wouldn't make it.

"Man down." Cristina said and I shared a smile with her.

"Two men down. First Grey, now..." Jackson said but the difference was Mer would be fine still.

"Meredith's not down. She's fine." Cristina said to him.

"And no matter what she'll still pass." I said to him, she would. She was Meredith freaking Grey, nothing would keep her down.

"Whoa. Shut up." Alex said and I looked at them.

"I'm going to get a snack. April I'll bring you some cookies." I said to them and I went down the hall. To the closest vending machine there was. Bringing snacks back for everyone. "Where's Alex?" I asked as I entered the room. April was still crying.

"He's gone back to Seattle. I don't know why." Jackson said to me and I sat next to him on the bed. He wrapped his arms around me.

"April, cookies. Now eat them and stop crying." I said to her with a smile. She then took the cookies and started to eat them.

"Thank you, I owe you." She said to me. Later that night we all went to the bar. "We're falling apart. Meredith's sick, and Alex...what the hell was he thinking?" She asked us and I looked at him.

"He's too attached to the kid. He wanted to help out." I said before I got a call. It was my sister. "I have to take this, it might be Caleb." I said before getting up and walking away.

"Hey sis, I know your probably busy but Caleb wants to share a few words." Kennedy said to me and I smiled as I leant up against the wall.

"Well pass him over." I said with a smile.

"Caleb. It's your Mum." Ken said and she passed me over.

"Mum, good luck tomorrow. I hope you've been revising." He said to me and I smiled to myself.

"I have been dont worry. When I get back, I'll be board certified don't worry. You can tell that to everyone at school then." I said and I heard him laugh from the other side.

"I want to say I'm really proud of you. Whether you pass it or not. I also packed you something that you got for me. It was that panda, the one you gave me when I first moved. I thought you could have it." He said to me and I felt tears come down my face.

"Caleb, you make me proud everyday as well. Never forget that." I said to him and I could hear him sit down.

"Can you tell Dad I'm proud of him as well? I couldn't of had better parents." He said to me and the conversation continued a little longer. That was before Jackson and I started heading back to our room.

"You know I really love you and no matter what the outcome is. I will and will always love you." I said to him before kissing him. Maybe I'd had a few drinks earlier.

"I will always love you as well." He said to me before he kissed me back more passionately. He then locked the door. "Are you sure you want to do this?" He asked me and I looked at him. I smiled at him.

"Of course." I said to him and that's when we went at it. After wards I laid next to him resting my head on his chest.

"I can't wait to make you my wife." He said to me before kissing my head.

"I can't either. Make you my husband that is." I said to him and he smiled.

"Then we can start on that family that we've wanted." He said to me and I smiled at him. That was before I yawned. "Are you tired? Get some rest." He said to me before kissing me. I then rolled closed my eyes. It wasn't long until I fell asleep. The next time I woke up it was because it was morning time. I got ready in a suit and I was all sorted for my look. I then went to my Mum's room 802.

"Y/n, I'm happy to see you. Sit down. Let's talk about preparation." She said to me and we then had a mini test before the big thing. I sat outside my door and I'd never been more nervous. Jackson then sat beside me taking my hand. He kissed it.

"Good luck." He said to me and I looked at him.

"Thank you but we both know that we don't need it." I said to him and kissed him.

"Y/n Y/l/n." The guy said coming out of the door. I stood up and shook his head.

"It's lovely to meet you." I said to him and he smiled at me.

"Likewise." He said and I sat down on the sofa. This was it. The most important day of my life.
