140. P.Y.T. (Pretty Young Thing)

I'd finally met the new OBGYN and I had mixed thoughts on her. Mer and Derek had started their trial for Alzheimer's and I was happy for her. Whilst I was still just trying my best. "Have you thought about what you want to try and accomplish?" Jackson asked me as he was cooking up breakfast.

"I don't know, with Callie I want us to try and accomplish something good together. Not too sure yet. What do you want to try and accomplish?" I asked him and he kissed me as he cooked. He looked at me.

"I don't know, as long as I'm doing it with you that's all that matters." He said to me, our morning discussion was about what we wanted to do with the future. Things well inherit.

"Well, I'm thinking of opening a school for the underprivileged that can't afford things for medical teachings, they'll get the same qualifications as what med school would offer but they'd be taught by the best surgeons first hand and they'll get their whole education paid in full." I said to him making him smile. That's all I wanted to do, the amount of people that I'd met that couldn't afford an education of get loans was sad they had to give up on their dream. All because of money.

"I love that brain of yours and how you just want to help people. I'm the same, I'm thinking in a few years to open up a foundation. It's a long shot but I could help people. Get them the proper treatment." He said to me and I looked up at him and smiled.

"And I love your brain as well. Wanting to open a foundation is huge." I said to him with a smile, I kissed him again and I heard a door open.

"Mum, what's for breakfast?" Caleb asked me tiredly and I looked at him before looking at Jackson.

"I don't know, ask him." I said while looking between the two of them.

"Dad, what's for breakfast?" He asked before realising what he said and Jackson was a bit taken aback. I mean Caleb had practically seen us together as a couple for ages. It would make sense as to why he'd call him Dad. "I didn't mean to. Say that, I'm sorry." He said to Jackson and Jackson just looked at him.

"That's fine, you can call me that as you help me with breakfast." Jackson said making Caleb smile and run over to him. Just like that my two favourite boys were together. Once we got to work I instantly changed into my scrubs. Callie and I had a trauma to attend to. Along with Owen and April.

"What do we have here?" Callie asked as we walked in.

"You really don't want to know." Owen said to us and I looked at him. Well I did.

"Let me get that for you, Dr. Torres. Ok, Randy Shouse, 23, multiple injuries after slamming into a brick wall? How did...?" April read, now this was something I wanted to learn about.

"Idiot and his idiot buddies built a human slingshot." Owen said while giving everyone a fake smile, this was the stupidest thing I've ever heard of.

"I wasn't supposed to hit the wall. I was supposed to fly over the house and land in the pool." Randy said to us and I shook my head.

"Gravity clearly wasn't on your side." I said to him, if Caleb ever did something like that I would not be impressed.

"But why would you do that?" April asked him, it was clear.

"So they could film it, put it in the internet and show the world just how stupid they actually are." Owen said to him and now look where it got him.

"Dude!" He said before moaning in pain. "Did you get that?" He asked and we looked out the window, his friend was filming.

"Yeah, buddy!" He shouted and I put the blinds down.

"No more of that." I said to them all and got a few nods.

"But why?" April asked again.

"Because it's hilarious, that's why. Ok, Randy. That must've been some kind of awesome slingshot because it looks like you've dislocated both hips. I'm gonna need to get some X-rays." Callie said to him, this was going to be fun to repair.

"I'm on it!" April said before going out the room.

"Wow, she's perky." April said I looked at her.

"Too perky for me." I said to them both.

"Better than stupid with a death wish." Owen said and I looked at him in agreement. "Y/l/n, go see how Kepner is make sure she's getting an X-ray." He said to me and I looked at him.

"On it." I said to him before going over to Kepner. We then had him X-rayed and we're now analysing the results.

"Hip dislocation, fractures of his femur, radius, ribs and metacarpals. Ok. Should we just go ahead and reduce those hips?" April asked and she was being just too perky.

"Kepner, I need you to speak differently. Be on Y/n's level." She said and April looked confused.

"I'm sorry?" She asked Callie confusedly.

"Your voice. It's a little...just speak differently." Callie said to her and I looked at them.

"Have less perk." I said to her and she looked at the two of us.

"Like with an accent?" She asked the two if of us.

"Never mind. You know, how about you get me a muffin from the cafeteria? Get me the sugary-est kind you can find. And some coffee. Wait. No. Damn it. No coffee." Callie said before April started heading out.

"Ok." April said before I saw the look on Callie's face.

"No, you know what? Yes. Coffee. Please." Callie said to her and April turned around again.

"Make it two." I said to her and I saw her nod.

"Great." April said to us both.

"Crap! No. No coffee." Callie said, the whole no coffee was killing her.

"You're sure?" April asked why looking at her.

"No. No coffee. Just...just go." Callie said to her.

"Ok." April said before going, and then she came back again. "Did you still want the muffin?" She asked Callie.

"Yes." Callie said harshly.

"Look, calm down. You have me to talk with. Just ignore her." I said to her with a smile and she nodded.

"We can do this. Try and tune her out." She said to me with a smile and nodded. Once it got to the break, I had a few coffees and had a snack while getting ready to do this surgery. I managed to find Callie later on and we went to Randy's room together where Owen and April were being filmed.

"Say it for the camera." Randy said to Owen, that was not happening.

"No, no I don't think I will." Owen said to the camera.

"Kepner, talk to the camera so we can get to the OR." Callie said to her and April looked a bit worried.

"In my normal voice, or...?" April said before getting a look from Callie. "Randy has multiple fractures. The most pressing problems are his hip dislocations. So we are going to reduce them as soon as possible before they lose blood flow." April said to the cameras.

"Reduce?" Randy asked us concernedly.

"Pop 'em back into place." Callie said to him, it would be painful.

"Oh, man! Hold on, let me get up on this chair for the wide angle." His friend said while sliding a chair across.

"That's not happening." I said to him with a stern tone.

"Uh, yeah. We're not doing it here. He has to be sedated and we have to fix his femur. So we're just gonna do everything in the OR." Callie said to them both and Randy looked like he had something to say.

"Wait. What if we did the hips here, while I'm awake? And I can give the thumbs-up to the camera." Randy said to us, he'd pass out. It was a needle prick pain.

"You're really not grasping how much this'll hurt." Callie said to him, he'd be out as soon as we touched him.

"It's for the art, Dr. Torres." Randy said to us, what art would that be, the art of being an idiot.

"You know what? That is a great idea." Owen said and I looked at him along with Callie.

"It sounds like an idea we should've thought of." I said to him and we got looks from April.

"Dr. Hunt, I think that it's..." Callie started before Owen cut her off.

"Dr. Torres, it is for the art." Owen said before Callie finally understood what we were doing.

"Oh...Ok. Ok, yeah. Marcus, hop on that chair. Kepner, Y/l/n, spot him. All right. Sure. Ok, you guys ready?" Callie asked him. "Ok." Callie said before grabbing his leg and Randy started screaming.

"Please stop! Stop! Stop! Turn the camera off! Stop! Turn the camera off! Marcus, turn the camera off!" Randy shouted, and I felt better.

"That totally cheered me up." Callie said and I smiled, I knew it would.

"Art has that effect." Owen said before he left and I went after him. We then got him an OR and started taking him down. Callie was on the table putting his leg back. "How did it get to this? How did four seconds of Internet fame become worth breaking yourself into a million pieces?" Owen asked and I looked at him.

"Stupid people do stupid things that other stupid people enjoy and try and recreate." I said to him, hopefully no more human catapults.

"He did it...because he thinks it's funny." Callie said to us, she was really struggling.

"That's bull. You just don't put yourself at that kind of risk." Owen said to us, well some people do.

"Well it's his decision." Callie said to us.

"His decision? Idiots like this shouldn't be allowed to make any..." Owen said to her and Callie looked at him.

"It is his body, OK! And you don't get to say what he can and can't do with it! He is a person, he gets to make his own damn choices! I am going through the worst caffeine withdrawal of my life because something thinks that being pregnant means I'm no longer of sound frickin' mind!" Callie shouted, and now she'd told people she was pregnant.

"You're pregnant?" April asked her happily. I already knew, like I know most things.

"Shut up! I'm not endangering my baby. I just want one damn cup of coffee!" Callie shouted, she was in a bad state.

"Ok. Kepner, go get Dr. Torres a cup of coffee." Owen said to her and I watched her go.

"Ok." She said to him.

"Run." Owen said and she went running.

"Thank you." Callie said to him.

"Congratulations." Owen said to her.

"Whatever. Just come around here and help me with this hip! Ready, one, two, three." Callie said before there was a thud.

"Callie, coffee is on the way. Be patient." I said to her with a smile, she seemed a better knowing that she was getting her coffee. Once she got her coffee she calmed down a lot. After shift I was off to Joe's it was the best way to end the day after that mile long surgery. Before heading home to a sleeping Caleb.
