136. Adrift And At Peace
Once I woke up I found out that I had a text from Christina, she was going fishing with Derek. This morning I was starting the move into my new house. I saw the movers arrive with all my furniture that was in storage. "Tell me, Doc, where are we putting the kitchen?" The one in charge asked me, I looked at him. He name tag read Archie.
"Well, Archie, you see this open window area with this window sill that faces into this big window. I say behind there. Then the stools that I own can be on this other side in the main room. So then there's an extra eating area. This main room will be the living space then that other room here will be the dining hall then this small room here as the utility room. The rest I'll allow you all to decide if you need me just give me a call." I said to him before heading to work. I was just hoping everything would be fine once I got to work I saw Jackson.
"Where have you been?" He asked me and I looked at me.
"I've been moving into my new house, I thought I told you. What are we doing?" I asked him while taking a chart from him.
"Looking after patients to see if they get fistula's." He said to me, I looked at him and leaned on the counter.
"Me and you are teaming up, I'm not being alone today. Especially since I could get a call at any minute." I said to him we then started walking away.
"Why would you get a call?" He asked me before we started going to Mrs. Kay's room.
"Because I said to Archie to decide where things go. I believe his judgement." I said before we went to her room and started walking around with her. We then saw Lexie.
"Dr. Grey. Check out Mrs. Kay. Day three post-op, no fistula. Already walking right away, eating right away. Isn't that right, Mrs. Kay?" Jackson asked her as we were walking.
"Can I go back to bed now? I'm tired." She said to Jackson I looked at her.
"We'll get you back soon don't you worry." I said to her with a smile.
"One more lap." Jackson said making her groan. Once we got her back my phone started ringing. "Who's that?" Jackson asked me.
"The movers." I said before answering the call. "Hello, Dr. Y/l/n speaking." I said to them while going out the room.
"Doc, just wondering would you like us to put up your Christmas decorations as well, once you told us that you had a little boy you made me want to make this place magical. So are we ok to do that?" He asked me, I could tell that he was going to do it no matter what I said.
"You can do it, go all out. Now how's the progress?" I asked him while leaning on the counter.
"It's going well Doc. The utility room is all done and so's half of the main room. I have some guys working on the kitchen, I say give us two more days and this place will be done." He said to me, we wrapped the call up and me and Jackson went to lunch.
"Mm...anybody want my soup? It's reminding me of pancreatic fluid." Jackson said to us, I was just eating my pasta.
"Mm-hmm. Then I definitely want it." Lexie said to us, I didn't want it.
"Sparkle. That was the name of my pony." April said to us, that came out of nowhere.
"Dr. Kepner? Your patient, Mrs. Hathaway, just came into the ER. She's in septic shock. CT showed a fistula. Dr. Bailey wants you in OR 2." Eli said while walking into the room, we all looked at her.
"Oh, Mrs. Hathaway? We just discharged her three days ago, she was fine!" April said before running away.
"And then there were three." Jackson before we both got out and walked away. We weren't losing Mrs. Kay not at all. I was honestly just looking forward to seeing my house after it had been decorated. After a while I had another phone call and after I took it I walked back into the room.
"What did I miss?" I asked Jackson and he looked at me.
"Bailey cured Fistula's." He said to me, I couldn't believe what I was heading. Once the day was over I checked on the house seeming as they'd all be done for the day. I looked around the downstairs was done. It looked perfect. Even with the Christmas decorations. And I was so glad that I chose to go with Grey paint seeming as everything fitted perfectly. It wasn't long until Jackson called me and told me to come back, seeming as Bailey wanted us to go to the ICU. At least one thing was going right today.
