I was thinking about what could possible happen at work today. When I got to work I saw Mer. "He wants a baby." She said to him.

"Like now?" I asked her, she nodded.

"He said multiple." She said to me, I was wondering what she was going to do.

"And what did you say?" I asked her as we were going to the locker room.

"I didn't. But did you know Alex has a brother." She said to me, I'd heard about this brother but I'd never seen him.

"Is he here?" I asked Mer. She nodded.

"Well, I was coming to get you so we could work on his case." She said to me. We didn't end up going to the locker room we went to where him and Alex were.

"I honestly don't think I need surgery." He said to us, he did. I saw what we were dealing with.

"You do." We all said to him.

"It doesn't even hurt that bad." He said to us, he had a hernia he needed surgery.

"You have an umbilical hernia. You need surgery. So shut up and fill out the paperwork." Alex said while handing him the paperwork after filling it out.

"I think surgery's just gonna make it hurt worse. You remember when Dad had his gall bladder out?" Aaron asked Alex, I mean that could've been a complication.

"Stop talking and write." Alex said to him harshly. Honestly he needed this surgery.

"Write what? I don't have insurance. OK? What am I supposed to write?" Aaron asked, now my goal was probably the same as mine. Try and get it done pro Bono.

"Ask Bailey to do it pro bono." Mer said to him, it was the only way.

"She might let it slide." I said to him.

"I can't ask her to do that." Alex said to us, if he wasn't going to ask. I would.

"Alex, he's your brother." Mer said to him, Alex couldn't afford to try and get this done pro Bono.

"You have to at least try." I said to him, I saw Cristina coming over to us.

"Evil Spawn has a brother?" Cristina asked us making me smile and shake my head.

"Aaron, Cristina Yang." Mer said introducing Aaron to her.

"It's nice to meet you, Dr. Yang. I'm Aaron Karev." Aaron said while standing up and shaking her hand.

"Oh, my God. You're so nice. He's so ni...why can't you be nice..." Cristina said to Alex.

"Be nice." Mer and I whispered to Alex.

"...like your brother...Angel Spawn?" Cristina said while letting go of Aaron's hand. Now we had Angel spawn and Evil spawn.

"Why can't you?" Alex asked her, now that wasn't being nice.

"Fair enough. Uh, Mer and Y/n, what's up? You called?" Cristina asked us. Mer and I stood up.

"Ten times." Mer said to her before we all started walking away.

"Well...Owen's still in his dark place, and he's still not talking, so I turned off my cell in case he would say something, which he didn't. I hate men. They're stupid." Cristina said to us, I hated men as well.

"Derek asked me to have a baby with him this morning." Mer said to us.

"Really stupid." Cristina said with a nod.

"Jackson wants to start moving some of his stuff in." I said to them both.

"Extremely stupid." Cristina said to us before her pager went off. "Great. The pit with Owen and his dark place." Cristina said to us before leaving.

"Have fun." I said to her sarcastically. She looked back and smiled before heading down to the pit. When Alex returned he said that she was doing the surgery. I went to go and get changed.

"How is it your brother is a surgeon and you waited months to take care of this?" Bailey asked him while looking at the hernia.

"I don't know. Karevs are tough." Aaron said with a smile, well I'd seen Alex at his not so tough points. "I guess five years in foster care will do that to you." Aaron said to us while sitting up.

"Foster care?" Bailey asked him, so they were all foster kids?

"You're all foster children?" Mer asked him while looking at his chart.

"I thought it was just Alex." I said to them. Alex had only told me that he had been.

"Well, me and Amber were in and out, but...Alex he had like...17 different foster homes in 5 years." Aaron said to us, that made sense now.

"So Alex was a foster child?" Mer asked him confusedly.

"Yeah, because my mom was, you know and it was before they had all the meds they have today, and she was...I guess she was doing her best. But my dad, he...wasn't a good guy, and he was...you know...whatever. And so, Alex got shipped around a lot, and...he was a pretty rough kid if you didn't know him, so people didn't like to keep him. Then he ended up in juvie." Aaron said to us, wait Alex went go juvie at one point.

"Juvenile detention?" Bailey asked him, I take it she didn't know as well.

"Yeah, 'cause my mom, she...sometimes she'd forget to buy food, so...he was good, though. People wouldn't have even known he was stealing anything if it hadn't been for the video cameras." Aaron said before Bailey started doing the back of his gown up.

"How old was he?" Bailey asked him, it was nice learning these things. But I'd never tell Alex.

"11, maybe 12." He said Bailey looked at Mer and I.

"Hey, what are we doing with 2807?" Alex asked, Mer and I looked at him before looking away. Bailey didn't say anything.

"Dude, are you talking crap in here?" Alex asked him, he knew.

"No." Aaron said to him.

"Dude, I work here." Alex said to him.

"So go to work. Check the chest tube in 2807. Go." Bailey said ordering him to go and do some work.

"Shut it, Aaron." Alex said before leaving, Aaron led back down again.

"So what happened after juvie?" Bailey asked him, I was curious to know.

"Dr. Bailey, I don't think that Alex- -" Mer started before I cut her off.

"He won't find out." I said to her.

"Mind your business. Aaron, after juvie?" Bailey said before Aaron started talking about what happened after juvie. Mer ended up leaving because she didn't want to know anymore. We took him to get scans done before Bailey and I went to go and talk about what we learnt about Alex. Me and Bailey were coming back from another patient room when we saw Aaron and Alex fighting.

"You've gotta be joking." I said in a whisper.

"What are you two fools- -oh, no, this is not hap- -Alex!" Bailey said while running over to them and raising the file up.

"Get off!" Aaron shouted at Alex.

"Karev!" Bailey said before hitting him with file and pushing him off of Aaron.

"What the hell is your problem, man?" Aaron asked him.

"You are!" Alex shouted at him, Mer and I were holding Alex back.

"Alex!" Mer and I shouted.

"You hitting people now too? You really did turn into Dad." Aaron said to him. I didn't like Aaron anymore.

"Walk away. Alex, walk away. Just walk away." Mer said to him and Alex left. She then went over to Lexie. "Give him some space OK? Don't follow him." She said to him.

"OK." Lexie said before walking away.

"Hey, I need a gurney. Run, honey." Bailey said to the nurse as she went to get a gurney.

"Right away." The nurse said before running away. We then get Aaron ready to go down to the OR.

"He protected me my whole life, you know? Kicked my dad's ass so hard, the son of a bitch never came back. I always thought he did that for me, but maybe he just likes throwing punches." Aaron said to us, yet again I liked him. This was weird.

"Aaron, I like you. I do, but you can't talk about my friend that way, OK?" Mer said to him.

"He's a pain some days but he's a great guy." I said to Aaron.

"I need you to count backwards from 10 for me, ok?" Bailey asked him, and he nodded.

"Ok. Ten. Nine. Eight." Aaron started before he was out.

"That's it. A junkie dad, a crackpot mom, and somehow Karev still became a doctor. I'm not easily impressed but I'm impressed. Prep him. We'll go scrub." Bailey said to the nurse before we went to go and scrub.

"Yes, doctor." She said to us. Once we finished scrubbing we then went to go and start the surgery. Once we finished up surgery, Mer went to go and check on Alex. Whereas I wanted to give him so space.

"I told Alex." She said to me as we walked through the hospital.

"What did he say?" I asked her.

"He said nothing." She said to me, that sounded like Alex. After a bit longer I went to check on Aaron who told me that Alex had come to visit. Mer and I discharged him before I went to Mer's house. We saw Alex sat on the sofa.

"Where's Aaron?" Mer asked him as we sat beside him. He was watching the news.

"He went back to Iowa." Alex told him.

"Wasn't expecting that." I said in a whisper.

"You let him drive after surgery?" Mer asked him, I was as well. I would never let anyone in my family drive after surgery.

"I'm not his dad. He's got my number." Alex said before eating some cereal.

"You know you're nothing like your father, right?" Mer asked him.

"And you never will be." I added. Alex wasn't going to be like his father. It was clear to tel..

"You're nothing like your mother. And Y/n, you're nothing like your brother." Alex said to us, and I wouldn't be like my brother. As much as I looked up to my brother. I didn't at the same time. He always let competition get over him to the point to where he would hurt people if he lost. Alex gave Mer the box cereal and we started eating it.

"Your good. So you'd be good. You'd be a good mom." Alex said to Mer. "And Y/n, I know that you can't deal with a lot of change. But maybe this might be the change you need." Alex said to me, I smiled at him. I was so glad that Alex was my best friend. When I told him this earlier he didn't know what to say. Maybe I should let Jackson move some of his things in. But that was it.
