Josh saw the expensive car pull into the vacant driveway of the expensive house beside his. He lived in an expensive neighborhood, million dollar houses, so it wasn't often that people moved in.

When the car parked, Josh set down his cup of hot chocolate on the little table on the deck and walked to where he could see the car. He watched as a man around Josh's age got out of the car and took a box out of the back and walked to the front door of the newly bought house.

Josh didn't think anything of it, but he found it cute when the man tried to open the front door, then dropped the box. After that he realized he had no key to the house itself so he ran back to his car. That was when the man noticed Josh in his morning robe smiling at him.

Josh soon caught himself staring at the cute new neighbor and waved back to him because he was waving. Josh, to make sure he doesn't embarrass himself anymore, walked away from the porch, grabbing his hot chocolate, and walked inside his own house.

Later that day Josh was finishing his paperwork for his work when there was a knock on the door. Josh didn't have any visitors he knew of, so he signaled his butler near. Since this was a very expensive neighborhood there were bound to be thieves. 

But when Josh opened the door, he was only met by a face that made Josh smile, sending the butler away.

"Hi!" Josh said cheerfully as the other boy smiled at him.

"Oh, hello." The new neighbor said, making Josh smile awkwardly. "I need a favor." He said and Josh nodded for him to go on. "I need an egg." The way the dark-skinned boy said this made Josh question him for a moment, and then smile.

"Like, an egg to cook with?" Josh asked and the man just nodded.

"Uh, yeah." After this a few seconds later Henry, Josh's butler, arrived with an egg.

"One egg, here you go." Josh said and handed it to the man.

"Thanks, I appreciate it." He said to Josh and took the egg. After a few awkward seconds, the man spoke again. "I'm JJ, by the way. Your new neighbor. I saw you before, on your deck that is." JJ said as Josh smiled at him.

"Oh, right! I'm Josh." The two shook hands and the door soon closed when they said their goodbyes.

Josh went back to work, doing bills and writing checks. But soon, there was another knock on the door.

Josh stood up, walking to the door as he opened it again. Again, it was JJ.

"Hi JJ. What can I do for you?" Josh asked, smiling at the neighbor.

"Hello. I was w-wondering-" JJ started but then cleared his voice. "Can you summarize how to make pancakes?" JJ asked and Josh cracked a smile.

Josh, instead of telling him, walked out the door of his house, and walked into JJ's yard and then in his house. With JJ's consent, of course.

Josh pulled every ingredient out to make pancakes, and soon Josh started teaching JJ how to make pancakes. There were some bumps in the road though.

"Ok, so we need 2 cups of flour." Josh went on, taking the back of flour and the 1 cup measuring. When Josh scooped the flour, he put it in the bowl and grabbed another cup of flour. But as he turned around to put it in the bowl, he was met by JJ, spilling the cup of flour all over each other, and the floor. "I'm so sorry!"

"No, it was my fault let me help-" But them trying to clean it up turned into a bigger mess than it already was. But instead of being angry, they just laughed it off, making the rest of the mix.

Together, they made 12 pancakes, as well as 4 burnt ones, but they were happy and full.

"We should do this again. Even though we just met like 2 hours ago." JJ said, taking Josh's plate of syrup and putting it in the sink.

"Definitely, but I don't have any way of contacting you." Josh said, hinting it to JJ.

"Well then." JJ turned around to Josh and walked over to him. "Can I have your number?" JJ asked cheekily. Josh smiled.

"You know earlier you were stumbling over your words and thinking about anything to say, and now you're so confident you asked right away." Josh laughed. "And now the cute new neighbor is asking for my number, how adorable." 

"So it that a yes?" JJ asked and Josh smiled.

"Of course it is."
