Prompt(That I made up): Kingdom AU where Simon and Josh are childhood friends that fall in love, but fast forward years later(When the story takes place) to their arranged marriages to a neighboring kingdom, which also had two best friends, where Josh would go live there and Simon would stay, as king, in his own kingdom. Little did they know, the women that they were marrying were also in love...

The making out in guest bedrooms and hiding in one of their own rooms wasn't enough for the secret lovers. They wanted it all to be open, but they just couldn't.

Being childhood best friends, the two were inseparable. They did everything together, even when it involved kissing. 

But the two boys were on a time line; they only had 2 weeks left until they had to leave each other for someone else.

"I'll miss you." Josh muttered for the maybe 12th time that day. They were hiding in a tree house that the two boys made with their fathers when they were kids. It was very far away from the castle where both boys lived.

You see, the king, Simon's father, had become best friends with Josh's father even before Simon and Josh were born, so they got to live in the castle with royalty.

"I know, Josh. You've said that already." Simon said as he put his arm over Josh's, which was around his waist. They were laying on a mattress that was on the ground with a couple of blankets that there wrapped around the two lovers. 

The tree house wasn't old or broken or anything, it was actually very nice. There were 4 walls all around with no windows and a latch at the bottom that you climb out. There was a mini fridge and even a small bathroom.

"Why don't we just stay here, you know? Live our life together, just the two of us. We can skip the weddings, just say we died or something. We could-"

"Josh." Simon said, turning around to face the hazel eyes. Simon does this every time Josh goes off on little tangents like this. "You know why we can't do that. We ha-"

" -have a duty to our kingdoms. I know." Josh said, finishing what Simon had said. Josh sat up on the mattress, and put his hand on his cheek. "I just wish there was something we could do." 

Simon sat up slightly, looking up a little to Josh.

"Trust me, I do as well."

Once the boys got down the tree house, they raced each other down the ladder of the tree house, running to the castle. As soon as they got to the gates, they were met by a guard.

"Hey JJ!" Simon smiled at his friend, being the first one there. Josh came stumbling to the gate, following his lover. He gave a similar greeting to their friend.

"Hey Simon, hi Josh! How are you both doing?" JJ asked the two boys.

"Same old, same old. We need to get fit for the weddings." Simon says to the other as JJ moves out of the way to let them past.

"Well good luck with that!" JJ says as he watches the two walk past him.

Once the boys got past the gates, they ran up the stairs giggling like girls as they raced to the fitting room.

"Hey dad!" Simon smiled as he won, again, being a second ahead of Josh, who again came stumbling through the door.

"Your highness." Josh bowed in respect as Simon's dad scoffed at Josh.

"Joshua, you know not to call me that." He said, knowing Josh was just messing with him. Josh was like a second son to him. He then looked at both Simon and Josh and clapped his hands together. "You boys ready to be fitted for your weddings?"

"You hated that tux! Your not wearing that ever again after your wedding!" Simon laughed at Josh who was stuck with an uncomfortable and ugly wedding tux.

"It's no fair!" Josh pouted, walking beside Simon as they walked down the hallway through the castle. "You get the better looking AND more comfortable." Simon shrugged.

"I guess it's just me being prince." Simon laughed as Josh shoved him.

"And I'll finally know what that's like, me being king and all." Josh said and suddenly both boys stopped talking.

They hated the idea of being so far apart from each other, as well as being with someone else.

"Maybe we could tell the kingdoms we're gay. We could get married and maybe even rule our own kingdom. Maybe we can still-"

"Simon." This time, it was Josh that was stopping him. "Now look who's saying these things." Josh smiled a bit but then turned to Simon, who had stopped walking.

Josh took Simon's hands in his own, wrapping his around as he kissed his hands, then linked them together.

"Whatever happens, you're my one true love. Just remember that." Josh said and Simon nodded.

The two started walking again, but they didn't see one of the maids in the corner, and with eyes wide, she ran all the way to the king's room.

It was wedding day, and both boys were far from excited. They were leaving each other, just for the kingdoms, and they couldn't do anything about it.

So the last night the boys had slept in the tree house together one last time before they departed into their own lives.

The morning of they spent our just laying on the little mattress breathing each other's air and remembering ever feature that appeared on each other.

But soon they had to hurry to the castle, being separated quickly to get changed for their own weddings.

Josh was marrying Princess Freya on the other kingdom, and Simon was marrying her best friend, Talia. It had been set up since all 4 were around 3 years old.

The weddings would take place in an open field in the middle of the two kingdoms where every other wedding and agreements had been, as well as a war way before.

Once all partners were ready, both boys went to the altar, waiting for the brides.

Everyone was set, everyone was ready, everyone was seated and ready for the brides. But when it was time for the brides to come out from behind the trees, there was no one there.

"Where are they?" Simon whispered to Josh as he just shrugged and shook his head.

"Where are Freya and Talia?" Josh's dad said and that caused a big commotion amongst everyone. 

But then suddenly, they walked out, hand-in-hand. Everyone let out a little sigh, but that was before the two girls stopped in the middle of the aisle. And when they did this, they stopped, hands still together, and kissed each other.

Simon looked at Josh and put his hand in his own, looking at his lover.

"I love you." Simon smiled widely as he kissed him and wrapped his arms around his neck.

"We are here today to witness two weddings, of Simon and-" The priest looked up from his book, then saw the two couples. He then just through the book behind him. "Simon and Josh, and Freya and Talia. Two beautiful couples, meant to be." The priest smiled at the two couples again.

*Skip a little cause I CBA with writing a huge essay on this part*

"Will you,  Prince Simon Minter, take Joshua Bradley to be your partner?" Simon looked at Josh and smiled.

"Of course I do."

"And will you, Joshua Bradley take Prince Simon Minter to be your partner?" Again, Josh smiled at Simon.

"I do." The priest turned to Freya and Talia, who were also smiling and holding hands.

"Princess Freya Nightingale, will you take Talia Mar to be your partner?" 

"Yes, I do." 

"And Talia Mar do you take Princess Freya Nightingale to be your partner?"

"Yes." She paused and looked Freya in her eyes. "I do."

"Then by the power vested in me I now pronounce you married. You may now kiss."

Josh and Simon kissed with with their hands on their side of their faces, holding each other close.

The two couples lived happily together in their own kingdoms, finally happy together.
