(15) "That makes sense."

If you want a better idea of the club song in this upcoming scene, listen to the song above ^ 😆
Thank you to Lrose249 for showing it to me x

"A club Drayton? Seriously? We could go clubbing anywhere!"

Drayton gives me a lazy smile as I refuse to walk any further. We've stopped outside a nightclub with a long line of people that are arranged behind a black rope. The music is so loud that I can feel it humming underneath my feet, there's excited yelling and stumbling and cigarette smoke everywhere. The situation seems so ordinary. I had been hoping for more.

"This is just our first stop cheer." He comes back into step beside me and leads me past the waiting line with his hand on my lower back. "This is gonna get us in the zone, pump us up. Plus" - he tilts his head down at me with a knowing smirk - "this is a twenty-one-plus club, how often can we go to one of those."

"Apparently never, because we're not going to get in!"

I get no response, he just smiles to himself as we walk right up to the bouncers on the door who appear somewhat intimidating but Dray's arrival seems to invoke a warm welcome.

"Dray, what's up dude?" The tall bouncer with a buzz cut and so many tattoos on his arms, there's no longer skin, smiles widely and pulls Dray into a bro hug.

The two of them engage in a little catch-up chit chat amongst themselves and I notice that a few girls at the front of the line are practically undressing Dray with their eyes. Typical.

Me too though.

What.

"Dallas, this is Corbin." Dray brings my attention away from the line as he slings an arm around my shoulder and tucks me into his side. "Corbin this is Dallas. My girlfriend."

Wait, what?!

"Hey girl," Corbin greets me with a gruff voice and a friendly smile.

"Corbin used to work as security detail for my Dad," Dray explains while my head continues to reel with confusion.

"Uh hey." I give him a small smile as my eyes dart between him and Dray. Dray doesn't seem the least bit miffed by the casual declaration of our apparent relationship. He just smiles and continues to squeeze me tightly against him.

"Go on in, just remember to stay out of trouble." Corbin steps aside to let us past.

"Thanks man. We'll be good." Drayton pats him on the back as we walk through into a dark crowded foyer which eventually leads us onto a packed dance floor.

I'd thought that the club in Castle Pines was impressive. But this is in a league all of its own. There's professional dancers on single platforms scattered throughout the area. The bar is a rectangle which sits right in the middle of the large space, allowing people to be served from all sides. The decor is a dark pine that's smoothly polished and has a classy vibe about it. It's absolutely packed and while it's clear that everyone is beyond intoxicated, there's certainly a different level of maturity that wasn't prominent in the Castle Pines club.

"Dray," I shout as he starts moving towards the bar. "I'm not dressed for a club!"

He sweeps my body and the simple action sends a shiver down my spine. I feel so vulnerable under his gaze, yet at the same time I feel invigorated. He playfully rolls his eyes and steps closely so I can hear him.

"You look perfect," he speaks loudly next to my ear. "Come on, let's go get a drink."

He laces our fingers together and we squeeze our way through the cluster of people that surround the bar. I'd have never made it through on my own but his large presence allows us to safely make it to the front. He quickly loops an arm around my waist and slips me in front of his body so that I'm against the bar and his arms on either side of me create a safe little cage where I can't get trampled on.

He orders us a drink each and I turn around to face him while we wait. I hadn't expected to be startled by our close proximity but it leaves me a little frazzled as our fronts crush against each other.

"Why did you tell that guy that I'm your girlfriend?" I shout, looking up at him and doing my best to seem un effected at the feeling of his firm abs pressed against me.

"He doesn't let just anyone in." He shrugs, not looking directly at me. "You had to seem significant to me or he wouldn't have gone for it."

"Ohhh," I nod with a small smile, "that makes sense."

I turn back around and the bartender, a young guy, likely in his early twenties, sets the drinks down in front of us. I smile appreciatively as I pick up the drink and much to my surprise he gives me a flirtatious wink. I'm not as dressed up as some of the girls around me so I'm flattered by the attention but apparently Dray doesn't share my enthusiasm because he wraps an arm around my front, pressing my back against his chest. A little grin forms on my lips at the display of jealousy. I don't make a big deal about it though, he'll shut down if I call him out.

We have a couple of drinks by the bar, passing the time with small talk, which isn't all that easy considering we have to shout at each other when we talk. But it helps to lift my spirits and as time passes I find my mood becoming more and more elated.
When we've finished our third drink I'm feeling a little giddy but not out of control, which I decide is perfect and I don't need anymore.

"Come on," I shout at Drayton as I turn around. "Let's go and dance! I'll show you some of my moves!"

"Your moves?" He cocks a brow with a smile on his lips.

"Yeah, I'm a dancer! Now lead the way!"

He obliges, helping us through the bar crowd and leading us into the middle of the dance floor. There's no avoiding the occasional hair whip, or shoulder bump or toe being stood on. But it's not totally unbearable and soon we stop and face each other before we start moving to the beat.

🎶 for the longest time, you're staring like you want me, I can feel your eyes 🎶

We have no choice but to dance against each other. Our bodies flush while we grind and move to the music. The alcohol has blanketed the little voice that would suggest that I don't get to sexual. So I sensually roll my hips, my arms raised as I let the song sway me.

🎶 if you think you're gonna get away from me, better change your mind. 🎶

I hold Drayton's hand and turn around, slowly lowering myself to the ground as I roll my hips. As I bring myself back up at a teased pace, Dray uses his free hand to hold my hip, pulling my back flush against his front.

🎶 The henny got us feeling right, you're going home with me tonight 🎶

We roll in synch to the music, both of his hands now gripping either side of my waist. His chest is pressed flush against my back and I can feel his heavy breathing against my neck, igniting a euphoric feeling within me.

🎶 Let me hold you, girl caress my body, you got me going crazy, you turn me on, turn me on. 🎶

I arch my back slightly, bending over as I start rolling my hips back and forth in a waving motion so my ass moves against his crotch. His hand travels up my spine, tangling in my hair as he moves his hips in time with my own.

🎶 Let me jam you, girl whip all around me, you got me going crazy, you turn me on, turn me on. 🎶

It's getting hot and heavy, I've disposed of all filters as I practically dirty dance on Dray, but the high is too intoxicating, it feels incredible and I feel as though I fit against him so perfectly. It's all about the dancing; it's euphoric.

An hour into our sweaty sensory overload, we both decide that it's too hot being squashed amongst all these people while we dance without pause. Plus Drayton thinks its time that we move on, considering this was only the entree to our evening.

"Damn cheer," Drayton says as we start walking down the street with no particular destination in mind. "I didn't know you could dance like that. I mean, I knew you could cheer. But that was" - he shakes his head with a loud exhale - "that was hot."

I do my best not to allow the compliment to go straight to my head, but a betraying smile seeps on to my face as I skip alongside him. We're in the centre of the city, the nightlife is alive, restaurants are still open, people are lined up outside various other clubs, small take out houses waft their delicious scents on to the street, enticing me to seek out some fried chicken. The streets bustle with a selection of different ages and it seems that everyone who's out, is enjoying themselves.

"Why do you think I cheer?" I ask Drayton. He stuffs his hands in his pant pockets and adopts a thoughtful expression.

"I used to think you enjoy it. I mean it was obvious you hated everything else about cheering. But now I'm starting to wonder if it's just a way to satisfy that badass dancer side of yours."

I admire his observation. He really knows how to pay attention to details and I can't help but feel a little thrilled when I'm the detail that he observes.

"You're partly right," I tell him as we momentarily step apart, allowing an intoxicated guy to stroll between us. "I enjoy cheering. I definitely don't like all the drama that seems to come with the squad sometimes. But I prefer dancing. That's my dream. And because our school doesn't have a dance team I hav-"

"You have to cheer so you have something on your college applications," he finishes my sentence and I slowly nod, confirming his correct guess.

"Must be hard? Not getting to do something that you love?" He glances down at me with a sympathetic smile.

"It'll pay off in the end. Once I get to California, I'll be free to do exactly what I want!"

"California huh?" he mumbles with knit brows. When I don't immediately respond he looks down and smiles. "California's great, I've been a couple of times."

We continue talking about the places we've been, well he's been and I would like to go, while we walk the streets, getting further away from the city centre and delving more into a residential area. We talk about so many things that I lose track of time and distance but when he eventually stops us outside an exquisite colonial home I check my phone and realise we'd been walking for about an hour. It's midnight now and the streets are dead silent.

"What are we doing?" I whisper, because I'm afraid to speak at a normal tone considering how quiet it is.

"Follow me!" Dray wiggles his brows with a devious glint in his eyes and I'm immediately on high alert. Whatever we're about to do, I suspect it's not a good idea. But this is what I'd asked for. So I tiptoe behind him as we creep up the homes footpath towards the back gate.

The gate is secured with a pretty high tech looking lock but that doesn't deter Dray. Without warning he moves behind me and grips my hips. "Time to cheer," he whispers beside my ear before he throws me into the air. I am a flyer but his throw sort of sucks. I can't blame him. I'm a human not a ball. But I latch on to the top of the gate and sling myself over before dropping to the ground on the other side. Before long, Dray drops down beside me with a triumphant smile.

The back yard is lavish. The home is obviously occupied by a family because there's a treehouse that I could only have dreamed of owning when I was a kid. There's a large trampoline and a swing set. All the child items occupy the far side of the lawn while the rest of the space houses a large deck, a pool and spa and an extravagant garden.

Drayton tugs on my hand and walks us towards the swimming pool. He lifts the gate latch as quietly as he can and we both walk on to the concrete surround.

"Seriously. What are we doing?" I quietly question. "Are you going to drown me?"

"Oh please," he rolls his eyes and makes a pass with his lips as he starts pulling his shirt off, rendering all coherent thoughts extinct, "we're going to skinny dip, cheer."

"You're kidding." My light chuckle gets strangled in my throat as he drops his pants and kicks off his shoes. "Oh my God, you're serious."

"Yeap," he grins, "you wanted help to be a little crazy tonight. This is crazy don't you think?"

"Beyond crazy!" I whisper shout as he stands in front of me in just his Calvin's, hands on hips as confident as the day I met him. "This is illegal! What if we get caught, what if the owners come out. What if-"

"What if you never have any fun because you're too busy thinking about the what-ifs?" He gives me a challenging stare and I can feel myself giving in because he's absolutely right. What's the use in being young if you don't have a little irresponsible fun once in a while?

When he realises that he's won me over his grin widens and I start kicking off my shoes, dropping my cellphone safely into one of them so it doesn't get wet.

When I stand up straight again Drayton winks right before he tucks his thumbs into the sides of his Calvin's and pulls them down, exposing ALL of his endowed glory. I quickly cover my eyes but I saw it, I definitely saw it and I'm starting to regret being so opposed to riding something that isn't his motorcycle.

I hear him chuckle lightly and then the sound of a soft splash sounds out. So I remove my hands from my eyes and keep them on his face that's floating above the water's surface with a cheeky grin.

"Turn around," I order after I've taken my shirt off, revealing my bra but nothing more.

"You got to see me butt ass naked," he scoffs.

"What are we, five?! This isn't the sandbox Lahey. Turn around."

He rolls his eyes but obliges, twisting himself in the water so he's facing the opposite direction. I quickly finish undressing, my heart thumping the entire time in the fear that someone's watching, or someone will catch us. But I can't deny that the thrill of it is exciting as hell.

When I'm completely undressed, I take a deep breath and slip into the water, expecting it to be freezing cold, but pleasantly surprised to find it's slightly heated.

"You can turn around now," I tell Drayton as I swim towards him. It's dark; there's only the moon and stars illuminating the sky so there isn't a lot to see once we're both facing each other.

"Feeling wild yet Bryan?" He grins.

"I don't know what I'm feeling," I admit as my arms sweep the surface of the still water. "But it's kind of amazing."

"Feels good to let loose once in a while, doesn't it?"

"I can tell you're just itching to say I told you so!" I laugh lightly at his silence. "Go on, say it."

"Na," he shrugs, "you got in the pool, that's good enough for me."

We float closer together, our gazes glued on one another as the moment becomes a little heavier. The night air breezes across my shoulders, raising goosebumps on my wet skin.

"Are you cold?" Drayton moves closer yet again and I feel his leg brush mine as he does.

"I'm okay," I tell him softly, sinking down into the water so that it comes to my chin. His eyes travel my face and it reminds me of the look he gave me the night that I slept at his house and he teased me, but there's something else there as well and it's making my heart beat a little harder.

"I can warm you up?"

I expect a dirty joke to follow or a smug grin or a wiggling of his brows to follow the comment, but his face stays set in a serious expression. I swallow the lump in my throat as his hands glide through the water and rest on my hips, pulling my body into his. Everything's touching, everything! And my entire body is on fire, not an inch of skin is cold anymore.

All I can do is stare at his parted mouth; adrenaline courses through my veins and goosebumps of a different kind raise across my décolletage. He brings a hand up to the nape of my neck, gently digging his fingers into the skin as he guides my face towards his.

A bright light suddenly shines down on us, it's coming from the house and causes Drayton and I to whip our heads in its direction.

"Shit," Drayton snaps and starts dragging us through the water towards the edge of the pool. "Get as low as you can."

We both lean our backs against the edge of the pool and sink as low as we're able to. My heart is thumping so hard that it hurts and my ears ring with anxiety. The sound of footsteps pad across the deck behind us and a woman's voice starts to echo through the air.

"I can see you Drayton!"
