dahyunxox FORGIVE MY SINS
in which robin and palutena are left alone in tokyo.
ships: robutena
universe: THIS IS A ONESHOT BASED ON Nintendo_Army 's "Killer" SERIES, WHICH DOES NOT BELONG TO ME. I HIGHLY ADVISE YOU GO READ THAT FIRST.
Robin and Palutena were alone in the hotel room. The gang had landed in Tokyo, and Marth had decided that the first order of business was that they needed to go get some food. Robin was sick of their antics already, so he had stayed behind.
Unfortunately, Palutena had already managed to get herself a bit drunk off of the liquor that was stocked in their hotel room for whatever reason. So she couldn't go, and now the two were stuck in a room that was seeming increasingly too small.
"Why did you get yourself drunk?" Robin asked with an irritated sigh. His question was phrased more like a statement, and the thinly veiled hatred dripping off his words was enough to send shivers down Palutena's spine, even in her slightly intoxicated state.
"Hmm... The flight over was stressful." Palutena responded, trying her best to keep the intoxicated giggle out of her voice. Still, she was well aware that she sounded a bit more... casual than she usually sounded. Especially around Robin.
"I've had enough of Marth and the rest's bullshit, but you... you're another matter entirely." Robin spat the words out as if they were poison, his handsome face screwed up in an intense frown.
In all honesty, Palutena felt terrible about what she'd done to Lucina. She had ruined her relationship with Robin out of jealousy. And what had it earned her? Literally nothing except a feud with the one person she wanted to not hate her.
"Come on, Robin. I'm not that bad." Palutena said, resisting the urge to roll her eyes. This act was exhausting, but she knew that she had to keep it up. Even if they were the only two people around to hear it.
It was a dance they'd be locked in until one of the died, and Palutena knew that if Robin had his way, it would be her that died. Sometimes, that didn't sound so bad, but she knew better. That kind of defeatist thinking wasn't going to get her anywhere.
"Yes, actually. You are. Now shut up, I don't want to deal with you anymore. Especially not when you're drunk." Robin snapped.
Clearly only one of them was pretending to hate the other.
After a tense few minutes of silence, Palutena frowned and looked over at the door. "Do you know when the others are supposed to be back?" she asked, hoping Robin wouldn't figuratively bite her head off for asking an innocent question.
"No. I don't." Robin replied. He sounded pissed. He had every right to be pissed off at her, so she didn't exactly blame him. It didn't stop his words from hurting, though.
"Okay." Palutena replied quietly, mostly to herself.
And so silence fell once again. This time, it was borderline uncomfortable. Robin was practically oozing anger, and it was... terrifying. Of course, Palutena felt like she had to do something to alleviate the tension in the room, but she knew that speaking would just make it worse.
So of course she started speaking again.
"Hey, uh, Robin?" Palutena asked. Maybe it was time she told him why she'd taken advantage of Lucina. Why she'd done what she did.
"What." Robin replied through gritted teeth. His question didn't even sound like a question, and the tone of his voice was almost enough to shake Palutena's resolve.
"I have something to tell you." Palutena said.
"Fantastic. I don't want or need to hear it." Robin actually laughed, which was a chilling sound to hear.
But the reality of his laugh now only made Palutena's memories of his laughter before everything had changed grip her thoughts and leave her unable to form a proper response. She couldn't even remember what she'd been about to say, for a moment. Then it hit her. Right, she was going to tell him her reasons for taking advantage of Lucina.
"Actually, I think you do." Palutena forced herself to make eye contact with him and stare him down. She would not back down now.
"I don't care about what you think, Palutena." Robin glared right back at her. The tension in the room was so thick you could cut it with a knife, and the hair rose on the back of Palutena's neck.
Palutena just stared right back at him. "I wasn't being entirely truthful when I told you what I did to Lucina."
"Excuse me?" Robin hissed, his eyes growing wide. His right hand twitched, and for a second Palutena thought he was about to reach out and grab her.
"You heard me." Palutena replied calmly, which kind of surprised her. She sounded a lot calmer than she felt, and she still hadn't broken eye contact with Robin.
"Explain yourself. Now." The tone of command in Robin's voice was oddly... well, arousing. The feeling itself wasn't exactly new, but it was rather odd considering Robin was angry at her, not actively trying to turn her on. And yet he was anyway.
"I never really liked Lucina." Palutena confessed. "I took advantage of her to make you jealous."
Robin didn't respond, but the sheer rage in his eyes was enough of a reply. But confusion flickered in his dark brown eyes, too- he wasn't sure what she meant. And that brought a smile to her face. This wasn't going as poorly as she had thought it would.
"I wanted to get back at you for dating Lucina instead of me. Looking back at it now, I can see that it was a horrible thing to do. But I was blind. I didn't think my actions through, and then I ended up hurting you and our relationship in the process." Palutena explained.
Another long, tension filled silence followed Palutena's words.
Finally, Robin took a deep breath and said "So you're saying that you didn't fuck my dead girlfriend because you actually loved her?"
"Well... yes. That's exactly what I'm saying." Palutena replied, blinking once in confusion.
"What the hell?" Robin yelled suddenly, rising from his sitting position and walking over to where Palutena was half lying down on the bed. "You- this is fucking unbelievable." Robin laughed, sounding a little crazed.
"I'm sorry, Robin. I don't know what the hell I was thinking." Palutena said, sitting up and facing him.
"Sorry doesn't even begin to cover it, Palutena!" Robin shouted.
"I feel terrible about what I did, Robin! I know I'm to blame for how much you hate me, but it still hurts to see because I'm still in love with you!" Palutena shouted back, raising her voice to get her point across.
"You think this is just going to go away because you declared your love for me? Newsflash, Palutena: This isn't some dumb romance novel. I'm not going to hate you any less just because you love me." Robin snarled, putting his finger in her face. He was dangerously close to her now- when had that happened?
"Of course not." Palutena said. It would be so easy to just lean in and kiss him at this point. The amount that she found herself wanting that was startling, to say the least. "I know it won't magically fix things. I'm not an idiot."
"But you fucking are! Don't you see, Palutena? By screwing Lucina behind my back, you proved that you're a complete and utter idiot!" Robin gripped the collar of her shirt and looked directly into her eyes. She was completely at his mercy, a feeling which filled her with dread and excitement in equal measures.
Robin's breathing was faster than it usually was, and he appeared to be debating something in his head.
"I know it's wrong to say, but you're fucking sexy when you're angry." Palutena whispered.
"Damn it." Robin hissed. "I'm disgusted at myself for wanting to kiss you."
"Do it, you coward." Palutena's voice was barely audible.
"I hate you." Robin mumbled, then leaned in and kissed her.
He wasn't gentle. Even while kissing, he felt angry. And it was undeniably hot. Palutena returned the kiss, matching him in intensity. Somehow, she ended up flat on her back, with Robin on top of her.
"Naga above, I should hate you more than I do. I can't tell how much of it is jealousy and how much of it is betrayal." Robin murmured in between kisses.
"I know I fucked up." Palutena mumbled. "I can't make you forgive me. But will you try?"
"I'm sick of hearing your voice." Robin growled. "But at the same time, I'm going to make you beg for me."
That was hot. This wasn't quite how Palutena had imagined this whole conversation going, but it certainly had gone in an agreeable direction. "I'll do whatever you ask, Robin."
"Good." Robin smirked down at her. "It's a good thing we have some time alone."
Instead of replying, Palutena pulled him into another kiss.
