-Readers Pov-
I woke up tangled in a maze of my cotton bed sheets. I wiggled around trying to make my way out but I just ended up falling on the floor with a big thump.
"Ow, ow, ow...What a great start to the morning." I mumbled to myself while rubbing my now bruised back. Sadly this happened only one my worst of days, which meant this wasn't going to be a good one.
I stood up and walked over to my white dresser. I picked out my clothes for school, a pair of black ripped skinny jeans and a black sweater. I then got changed and ran down the old wooden steps that led into the kitchen.
"Hmm, what should I have today?" I asked myself as I scanned my refrigerator for something to snack on while I walked to school. I spotted an apple on the bottom shelf so I grabbed it and put it in my bag, which I had laid on the couch in the living room. I went to the bathroom to get washed, then put my boots on and headed out the door.
-At School-
I walked through the doors and took the same set of stairs as I always have. Well, since the start of this school year anyway. The stairs I went up last year led right to my homeroom class, but on the way, there were this group of girls known as 'Girly Gals' that waited for me. They'd pick on me everyday and once almost pushed me down the stairs. After the year was over, I decided to never take those stairs again, so here I am now. Anyway I made my way down the hall and into the classroom, where I sat next to the window waiting for the teacher to start the lesson. Not that I ever paid any attention to the teacher.
-Last Class (History)-
"Miss L/N? Miss L/N, are you even listening?" the teacher spoke to me, which broke my stare from the sky.
"Huh? Oh, uh yes." I lied. He sighed and plopped his papers lousily on his desk.
"It's your turn to present your project. I hope you at least remembered to do it." The whole class giggled at that.
Oh, yes, I remembered." I said pulling a sheet of paper and a pair of glasses that were cracked and smudged from my bookbag.
I walked up to the front of the class hesitantly.
"So um, my great grandfather L/N was archaeologist. He was the one of the first to make it to the arctic circle with a team of 10 sailors and 7 sled dogs. He had a friend who wore these glasses," I held the glasses up.
"He uh, his ship got stuck in the ice and so the sailors and dogs all got off to try and break it free but the same person who wore these glasses, he fell into a hole in the ground.
"When he was down there, he said he was okay and began to look around. Though five minutes later there a was a loud noise and so they sent a dog down to check on him. The dog barked and then my grandfather went down to check on them. When he got down-"
The bell rang, cutting me off, and people began leaving. I sighed and went back to my seat and packed up my stuff.
"Oh Miss L/N, I'd like to talk to you for a moment." the teacher called out to me right as I was about to step out of the classroom.
"Hm? Oh, what is it sir?" I walked over to his desk.
"You do know that the project was a family tree, correct?" he asked tapping his pen on the corner of his laptop.
"Um, no. I didn't..." I hung my head.
How was I so stupid? I can't even do a simple project...
The teacher sighed."Well, pay attention to the subject next time, off you go." he shooed me away like a dog.
How rude.
I went back down stairs and exited the school through the same doors I entered.
"Siri" I turned my phone on and asked the AI instead of unlocking it.
"How may I help?" it asked.
"Where is the nearest car dealership?" I asked and in return got directions to a second hand car dealership. I had about 14,000 dollars saved up for a car and I'd gotten my drivers license 7 months ago, so I was free to drive on my own. Now all that was left to do, was pick out car.
I had planned on getting a car as soon as possible, so I figured why not get one with my bitch of a grade.
I never anticipated how long it was going to take for me to reach the actual dealership. Maybe it would've been faster if I walked with a friend, if I had one anyway. That was another thing about me; six years ago, when I was eleven, I was going on a road trip with my parents. We were on a mountain road when an elk came out of nowhere and we hit it. I was in the back seat so I was okay, just a few scratches, but my parents...
Since they were hit full force, they got most of the impact. My mother died instantly, but I found that my father was still breathing. So I grabbed the cell phone and called 911. Skip to the next day, my father was in the hospital. He passed at 4:28am because his body was so weak.
From there I lived with my Aunt, but she passed away just a month and a half ago, so I'm on my own. I have no friends as you know, because everyone thinks I'm bad luck. Sometimes it sucks, but sometimes it doesn't either. I've pulled through this long at least.
Anyway, after a whole thirty minute walk I finally made it to the dealership. I strode around, looking at all of the crappy cars hoping to find a semi-good one. I did not want to drive around a hunk of junk. No way.
"Hello," A deep voice came from behind me, which I jumped at. I turned around in a flash to see a dark skinned man in a flower shirt and shorts.
"O-Oh, uh hi." I managed to get out. Hey, I was startled.
"Sorry for scaring you! My name is Bobby Bolivia, anything catch your eye?" He introduced himself then gestured to the cars around.
I shook my head, "No, not yet. I'm still looking. I'm Y/N by the way, Y/N L/N. Nice to meet you." I stuck out my hand for him to shake. He smiled and did so.
"If you find anything you like, just go to that building and we'll get everything set in stone." Bobby said and pointed to a small shop-like building to his left, before waving and walking towards it.
I sighed, "Well, let's hope I find something worth while."
