Reki was not someone who got sick easily, it was most likely due to the fact that if someone got sick at his house soon enough his entire family would end up getting it. His genetics might've also played a part in his God-like immune system considering he wasn't exactly conscious about germs and cleanliness, after all, he frequently shared food with Langa and his siblings.

Not to mention the amount of time he spends skating through filthy abandoned buildings. Hell, he was pretty sure that the abandoned factory in the course for S was a tetanus shot waiting to happen.

The point is, Reki has a near-impenetrable immune system that he's definitely proud of, so when he wakes up with a dull ache pulsing through his skull he brushes it off.

After all, he was up most of the night studying for a test, which he's pretty sure he hasn't done since middle school. But between Langa promising him a present if he somehow managed to get a better score, and the slight disappointment that coated his mom's voice when she saw the grade on the last test he'd brought home Reki decided to actually work his ass off this time to get a better grade.

He groaned softly as he rubbed a hand over his face. He was still sitting at his desk in his room, he'd fallen asleep by accident last night. Reki turned his head, his eyes narrowing as he looked at his phone.

Almost immediately he winced, turning the brightness down so that he could actually read the time without feeling like he was getting stabbed in the eye.

A second later his eyes widened and he shot up from his desk, a curse leaving his lips as he practically scrambled around his room.

He was running late for school, which was nothing new, but Langa typically waited for him. In fact, there were about four missed texts from Langa, on his phone.

'Sorry, be right there.' He quickly typed before tossing his phone on the bed as he left to take a quick shower.

By the time he reaches his and Langa's usual meet-up spot he's out of breath and feels way too warm.

"Sorry, I slept in, " Reki panted as he tried to catch his breath. The sun felt like it was too bright, the light from it practically stabbing his eyes, his chest was aching and practically running here didn't do his headache any favors.

Langa frowned as he looked at him. "Are you okay?" His eyes roved over Reki, noticing that he looked a bit paler than usual.

Reki nodded. "Yeah, just give me a second." His head was pounding.

"Here."

Reki looked up to see Langa holding out a can of soda to him. "Thanks," Reki said as he took the soda with a small smile. He wasted no time drinking the soda, a sigh of relief leaving his lips.

"I figured you wouldn't have time to eat or anything so I got you breakfast," Langa explained as he rifled through the plastic convenience store bag in his hand. He hands Reki one of the still warm breakfast sandwiches.

Reiki ate it as they traveled to school, thankfully they made it to class with a few minutes to spare.

~~~
Reki scowled, absentmindedly tapping his finger on his desk, as he tried his best to actually listen to what the teacher was saying.
But this task proved fairly difficult, his headache hindering the process, the teacher's droning voice, and the sounds of pencil scratching on paper seemed to grate on ears. He glanced over at Langa who was taking notes before he discreetly checked the time on his phone.
It'd only been fifteen minutes since class started, which meant he still had forty minutes to suffer through until he could finally take that stupid test.
He rubbed a hand over his face, taking a deep breath. His stomach seemed to flip and he muffled a burp into his hand. He noticed Langa glancing over at him for a moment before he returned to taking notes.
In addition to his headache and the tiredness weighing down his limbs, his stomach had also begun aching. It felt too tight and tender, as his stomach flipped again Reki bit his lip before reaching down and placing a hand on his stomach as discreetly as possible.
His eyes widened slightly as he noticed how bloated his stomach was, his fingers sinking slightly into the now soft skin. Another thing he noticed was that his stomach wasn't just aching it felt heavy as well, but at the same time, his breakfast consisted of a soda and a greasy yet delicious breakfast sandwich so he wasn't exactly surprised.
Reki shifted his hand in an attempt to rub his stomach but when he did he felt his stomach shift beneath his fingers before it made a very loud, very audible gurgling noise.
Reki quickly removed his hand from his stomach, glancing around to see if anyone else had heard that. He saw a few of the other students briefly look up before turning their attention back to the teacher.
His face felt slightly warm with embarrassment, he checked the time on his phone again noticing that the number on the clock had barely moved. As he was looking at his phone, it suddenly vibrated as a text from Langa appeared on the screen.
9:17 AM- Langa: are you okay?
Reki looked over at Langa who had stopped taking notes and was now glancing over at Reki, one hand was inside his desk holding his cellphone.
Reki nodded, giving Langa the best smile he could manage right now. However, as if to contradict him his stomach gurgled again which made him quickly glance away from Langa.
With a small smile on his face, Langa texted him again.
9:18 AM-Langa: Sounds like you're hungry.
Reki swallowed hard as the mere thought of eating at moment, made his stomach churn and that familiar tickle of nausea seemed to well up in him. Forcing himself to keep smiling he quickly texted Langa back.
9:18 AM- Reki: Probably, can't wait for this class to be over.
Seemingly satisfied with Reki's answer, Langa returned to taking notes, which made Reki give a very soft sigh of relief.
The last thing he wanted to do was worry Langa, still, he couldn't wait to take that test so he could go home and take some well-needed sleep.
He rubbed a hand over his face, muffling another burp into his hand as he tried to ignore the growing nausea. For a second or two, the nausea seemed to ease up slightly as Reki took a few deep breaths.
This was fine, great even. He thought as he checked the time once more, it now read 9:21 AM. Thirty-four minutes, he only had thirty-four minutes left to go before he could take his test and be freed from this hell.
Then his stomach lurched, his eyes widening in horror as something absolutely roiled in his stomach, wet and thick, the mass of food coiling and shifting like a ball of snakes a loud gurgle echoed out.
Closing his eyes a jolt of fear ran through him as he swallowed hard, trying to get rid of the onslaught of saliva starting to pool in his mouth. His hand went to his stomach as his nausea seemed to come back with a vengeance.
No. Absolutely not. Reki was not going to be sick, not at a time like this. He just couldn't be.
Taking a deep shuddering breath, he opened his eyes as he felt his phone vibrate in his hand.
9:23 AM-Langa: Are you sure you're okay? You look pale.
Reki would've cursed if he was able to at the moment, his hand dropping from his stomach as he glanced over at Langa. Langa was looking at him worry clear on his face, which made Reki feel even worse.
9:23 AM-Reki: I'm fine. Just tired.
Releasing his phone Reki looked away from Langa feeling the other boy's eyes on him. A cold sweat runs along his too-hot skin, his head throbbing as his stomach suddenly lurches again.
This time he feels bile rise a bit in the back of his throat and he quickly swallows it back, a shuddering breath leaving his lips as his stomach gurgles again clearly upset with having its rejected contents forced back inside.
It is at this moment with fear and anxiety crashing down on him that Reki has an epiphany, his godly immune system has betrayed him.
The anxiety makes things worse, a small shudder running through him as he tries his damndest to choke back the bile that rises in his throat once more.
Reki begins to panic, his eyes darting up to the clock on the wall. 9:26, twenty-nine minutes, he just needed to hold on for twenty-nine more minutes, he reasoned with himself. He'd take the test, make Langa proud and get to see that smile he loved so much.
Reki closed his eyes as he took in deep shuddering breaths in through his nose because he wasn't about to risk opening his mouth. A loud, gurgling burp suddenly forces its way up Reki's throat, and he's too focused on trying to not puke everywhere that he isn't able to stop it.
He froze his eyes wide as he stared at his desk, feeling the stares of a few of his classmates on him, including Langa who's looking at his eyes wide and full of worry.
Reki's face burns with shame and embarrassment, he sees Langa open his mouth like he's about to ask him something but before he can Reki's stomach lurches again as he heaves.
Panicking he clamped his hand over his mouth as a wet burp tears its way up his throat, and a large wave of undigested food follows spraying across his desk.
He feels everyone's eyes on him now, the classroom is quiet save for his gurgling stomach and his panting.
Tears gather in his eyes, he has just enough time to notice that his regurgitated breakfast coating his fingers feels disgustingly warm before his pitching forward again with a wet retch.
His stomach is killing him, his head is pounding and Reki is about ninety-eight percent sure that he's dying whether it be from whatever virus or bug he's caught or just absolute shame he doesn't know.
The world swirls and sways before his eyes smearing into bursts of color as he coughs, then he's heaving again his hands shakily coming away from his mouth. After all, it's doing nothing but making a bigger mess.
He can feel the vomit cooling against his hoodie, the sharp sour scent filling his nose as he squeezes his eyes closed the way the world is swirling isn't helping him one bit. Plus he really didn't want to see the looks of disgust that his classmates, especially Langa probably had on their faces.
Reki is able to register a hand on his back, rubbing it as black spots fill his vision. A cold sweat sweeps across his skin, and for a moment it seems like he's floating. His eyes flutter for a moment and then the world falls away as he loses consciousness.
~~~

When Reki comes to he catches sight of a white ceiling, the lights of the nurse's office shining down on him feel like they're stabbing his eyes.

His stomach is still churning and aching like it's throwing a tantrum inside of him. He barely has any time to register the nausea before he's lurching to the side dry heaving, he feels familiar hands gently running through his hair.

He glances up, panting as his stomach stops trying to turn itself inside out. He sees Langa looking down at him, one hand running through Reki's hair, it's nice and Reki gives a small delirious giggle.

Reki shifts crawling forward a few inches until he can rest his head in Langa's lap. Langa's familiar scent envelops him, soothing his fried nerves a bit.

Another small giggle leaves Reki's mouth as Langa brushes his hand over Reki's cheek causing him to sigh. "It's okay, I'm right here," he reassures him.

And Reki practically melts a soft hum leaving his mouth as he closes his eyes slightly. As he allows the world to fade away once more there's only one thought in his mind. That he really loves being around Langa.
