Kazuha was not used to traveling by boat, it's not that he'd never traveled on one. But typically it'd only be for a few moments on smooth waters before he was once again traveling on dry land.
Compared to that sailing on the open ocean with the Crux Fleet, was an entirely different beast altogether.
The weather didn't matter, the ocean waves were often choppy, and they'd be out there for days, sometimes weeks at a time.
And honestly, Kazuha was still nowhere being used to it, then again he was the newest member of the Crux so no one really expected him to be.
Still, that didn't make Kazuha's current predicament any less humiliating.
The ocean waters were especially rough tonight, harsh rain fell as thunder and lightning split the sky. The ship was tossed violently side to side, and Kazuha was not enjoying it even a little bit.
The ship swayed and tilted beneath his feet, and Kazuha could practically feel his dinner sloshing against the walls of his stomach as the world swayed before his eyes.
A seasick pirate, it would seem that the Archons had jokes and Kazuha probably would've laughed if he wasn't too busy experiencing it at the moment.
Swallowing hard, he muffled a hiccup into his hand as he finished helping his crewmates adjust the sails. He'd smelt rain in the air an hour or two before the storm actually hit, but he'd still eaten dinner because one he was hungry and two because he was sure they wouldn't be sailing directly into the storm.
But this was Beidou, so he should've known after all since she seemed to live for an adrenaline rush.
As Kazuha steps back he nearly stumbles and would've fallen backward if not for someone grabbing his arm and steadying him.
Kazuha swallows hard as his stomach practically flips inside of him, his dinner sitting like a weight in his gut.
He looks up to thank the person still holding him steady but his eyes go wide when he sees that it's none other than Beidou.
"Kazuha, " she sighed, crossing her arms as she looked down at the young man.
He looked absolutely miserable at the moment, his skin incredibly pale and almost tinged with a green tint.
"Go to the infirmary and rest, " she told him with a scowl.
"I'm fine Captain Beidou, " Kazuha told her, shaking his head.
As if to disprove his point his stomach gives a low growling noise, what little color Kazuha does have left in his face seems to drain away and Beidou sighs again as she sees him swallow almost convulsively.
"Try saying that when you don't look like you're seconds away from puking everywhere, " she sighed, shaking her head. "Go rest in the infirmary."
"But I-" Kazuha begins only to stop and grimace. His hand going to his stomach when the ship violently lurched to the side, a soft hiccup leaving his mouth.
Beidou shakes her head. "That's an order, I need you alert and aware. Not stumbling around like a drunk."
Kazuha gives a soft huff and Beidou can't help but smile slightly when it almost looks like he's pouting. "Yes Ma'am, " he sighed softly, not sounding thrilled by Beidou's words.
"I'll walk you there, " she told him, knowing that if left to his own devices he'd probably go to his room instead. He also wouldn't ask for the help despite clearly needing it.
"I...alright, " he muttered knowing that resisting Beidou would be a useless effort.
Kazuha is quiet as Beidou walks with him, which is unusual since at times it seems as if he doesn't know the meaning of being quiet.
She glances down at him when she hears a soft hiccup. Kazuha has his arms wrapped around his stomach, his gaze on the floor as his small body jolts with hiccups.
Kazuha does not enjoy this at all, he feels so nauseous at this point that it's dizzying and it doesn't help one bit that the ship is violently swaying, the world tilting before his eyes as the ship lurches to the side.
Kazuha is trying incredibly hard to swallow back the contents of his stomach threatening to climb up his throat. As he swallows hard his stomach makes a loud gurgling noise, clearly upset with having its contents back inside and Kazuha's face flushes red with embarrassment as he desperately hopes Beidou hadn't heard that.
This whole thing is just embarrassing for him honestly so he wants it to be over as soon as possible. He stumbled slightly catching himself when the ship rolled to the side before lurching forward.
The motion makes his stomach churn and his vision swim, his dinner sloshing against the walls of his stomach. Kazuha gags and he quickly slaps a hand over his mouth as a splash of bile coats his tongue, the taste bitter and sour.
Kazuha stops walking, his eyes wide as he stares down at the floor of the ship. Honestly, though it only feels like it makes things worse, since the ship is still moving around him.
Beidou stops walking, looking back when she sees Kazuha is no longer at her side. Her eye goes wide when she sees his state, he's on his knees hunched over with both hands clamped over his mouth as his shoulders shake with a barely suppressed retch.
"Hey! No, no, no, Kazuha!" She exclaimed, rushing back to him.
She is a few seconds too late, reaching his side just as his body lurches forward with a wet strangled retch.
A wave of thick, lumpy beige-colored vomit coats his hands, spraying through the cracks in his fingers as it splatters the floor.
Kazuha slowly lowers his hands, his eyes going almost comically wide and any other time Beidou might've laughed if the poor boy didn't look so mortified.
She kneels beside him, gathering his hair back, moving the white strands away from his face. "Shhh, it's okay kid, just get it up, " she tried to reassure him.
Kazuha says nothing, merely giving a soft groan as he pants, before he gives a loud wet burp that has him lurching forward again, another thick wave of vomit gurgling up his throat. It splatters onto the floor added to the disgusting, slightly watery puddle in front of him.
Beidou cringes glancing away from the mess when she realizes she can clearly make out what exactly Kazuha had, had for dinner.
"It won't stop. Why won't-, " Kazuha manages to groan softly before he lurches again forward with a retch that has him choking up another wave of vomit.
It's thick, practically congealing on the floor as it falls from his lips. His face burns with embarrassment, even more so when Beidou lays a gentle hand on his back.
Kazuha hates everything about this, the bitter taste of bile coating his mouth, the way the hot undigested remnants of his dinner felt as though they were searing his throat, how painful it was to actually get the disgusting mixture it up leaving him barely able to breathe, he hated all of it.
Beidou gives him a small sympathetic smile. "The ship will stop swaying when either the storm is over or we dock, " she told him grimacing when he burped, bringing another wave of vomit with it.
"And...when is that?" he groaned in between his panting. Even though his stomach was steadily emptying itself out he still felt so nauseous that he was dizzy. The ship swaying before his eyes and lurching beneath his feet doing nothing but making his condition worse.
Beidou gives a soft hum. "We're docking in Liyue in two days, but the storm should pass by tomorrow afternoon, " she told him almost thoughtfully.
Kazuha merely groans, he makes a strange noise that sounds like a cross between a hiccup and a burp before he brings up a small, almost watery wave of vomit.
"It seems like you're almost empty though, so we should be able to make it to the infirmary now, " Beidou told him, giving his back a soft pat when he begins coughing.
"I would like to go to sleep, " he mumbled, his voice raspy. His stomach was still churning and from what Beidou told him it would continue to do so for a while, so there was no point in prolonging the inevitable.
"That's exactly why you're going to the infirmary, " Beidou told him, waiting until he stopped gagging to climb to her feet.
Kauzha shakes his head, stopping when the movement made his stomach swirl soft hiccups still leaving his mouth. He reaches up to wipe the threads of drool from his lips but stops, a grimace crossing his face when he sees the mess on his hands.
He quickly looks away, his stomach is still hitching as it attempts to eject whatever contents it still has, he did not need help with setting it off. Not really knowing what to do Kazuha shakily stands up, his face burning with a combination of shame and embarrassment.
"I would prefer to rest in my room, " he muttered. He felt completely drained from the ordeal, his stomach aching and throat raw on top of the dizzying nausea still assaulting him.
At this point, sleep felt like his only salvation, besides he'd already embarrassed himself in front of Beidou; he really, really did not want other people seeing him like this.
Beidou is quiet for a moment as she stares at Kazuha with a scowl. The young man is looking everywhere but her or the mess on the floor, one hand hovering over his stomach. He's still pale but there's also a red blush on his face and guilt in his eyes.
"I'm...sorry, " he said softly, still not meeting her eyes.
Beidou gives him a sympathetic smile. "Don't worry kid, you're not the first person to get seasick on my ship and you sure as hell won't be the last."
Kazuha gives her a small stilted nod but says nothing as he swallows almost convulsively trying to clear the disgusting after taste coating his mouth. He just wants this entire ordeal to be over.
