Chapter 1

(Setsuna's POV)

'Sentaro' I called to my older brother by three years as we walked towards the large green gates. He turned to look at me "What's wrong Setsuna?" I kept my face emotionless and shrugged 'Are you sure you want to settle down, after all this time?' He placed his hand on his chin and tilted his head to the right "I'm ok with it, but are you sure?" I gave a short nod 'Whatever you want to do, I'll go along with it' He gave me a smile and took my small covered hand with his larger gloved hand as we kept on walking.

As soon as we walked straight through the gate, two men who were sitting at a small desk to the side stood up and called to us "Stop" I glanced at Sentaro who simply smiled at me. We stopped and waiting for the two to get to us. "State your business" One ordered. He had a white thing over his nose and spiky black hair, wearing normal ninja clothing.

Brother stayed silent for a moment before finally speaking up "My name is Sentaro Kanashimi and this-" He gestured to me "Is my sister Setsuna" The two guards looked at my small fragile looking figure with soft smiles, which to their dismay, I did not return.

"We'll have to take you to the Hokage so he can make a desicion" Brother nodded and turned his head to me, awaiting my reply which was simply a short nod as well. The other ninja, who had short brown hair and wore his headband as a bandana turned to the spiky haired one. "Kotetsu, you take them" Kotetsu.. replied with a yes and turned, walking into the village. Sentaro tugged at my hand and we stalked after the disappearing Kotetsu. "It's going to be fine Setsuna, I'm here" 'I know Sentaro, I'm not worried' He chuckled and we continued walking past people who were staring at us like we had two extra heads.

Once inside a large red building, we went up the stairs and stopped outside a door. Kotetsu knocked and from inside came a gruff "Come in"

Kotetsu turned to us and smiled, which was mostly at me, before opening the door and strolled casually inside. Sentaro carressed my covered hand with his thumb and we walked inside the room as well, closing the door behind us.

My brother then bowed respectfully in front of the Hokage, who simply smiled at us, revealing his wrinkles from being at such an old age. Once sentaro stood back up straight, It was my turn to bow, however I only stayed that way for a second before straighening up again.

The hoakge turned to Kotetsu with a confused look "Why have you brought these two to me Kotetsu?" Before said man could even answer, my brother had began to speak. "My name is Sentaro Kanashimi, 16 years old, and this is my sister Setsuna, 13 years old. We have come to ask for residence here in Konoha, instead of travelling around all the time" The Hokage, after a moment of what seemed to be him thinking, smiled.

"For what reason should I allow you inside my village?" Sentaro smiled down at me, but I kept my face expressionless 'what do we do now?' I asked. He shrugged and turned back to the Hokage. "I don't know why you should let us Lord Hokage, but we just want to live in peace for once. If it's not this village, then we don't mind trying to find another" It was silent and I imaginarilly smiled slightly at his speech.

"Alright, you may live here. First though, I want to know if you and your sister are ninja. If so, then, Sentaro, I would like to test you and Setsuna, I would like you to join the academy" I blinked, my face stoic and eyes showing no expressions whatsoever. 'I don't want to be away from you Sentaro' I said, tugged on his hand. He chuckled down at me and nodded "I wouldn't mind being tested and I don't think Setsuna would mind joining the academy, but she doesn't like being away from me" The Hokage scratched at his stubbled chin and sighed.

"Then you may stay with her until she graduates, but will still take a test. Is that ok with you?" I shortly after just gave my usual nod and Sentaro bowed in respect "Thank you Hokage-sama" Said man smiled but then frowned and turned to me "I've noticed. Don't you talk?" Sentaro squeezed my hand tightly 'You know what to say' I noticed the tiny move of his head, meaning that he complied. "She was born a mute" "Ah, I'm sorry" I shook my head and turned to Sentaro, who was smirking for some reason.

The Hokage cleared his throat and threw two small keys towards my brother before turning towards Kotetsu "The academy has just started an hour ago, take them there and later on pick them up to show them where they will be housed" "Hai, Hokage-sama" He bowed low and respectively, then turning to us, nodding towards the door. "Follow me"

After saying goodbye to the Hokage, we followed Kotetsu down through the busy streets. Almost all of the people were smiling and I held my Shamisen closer to my chest, sighing.

(Sentaro's POV)

I heard a muted sigh and turned towards my adorable younger sister with a frown. "What's wrong Setsuna?" She looked at me with her regular expression - Nothing at all. Her lifeless Midnight blue eyes bore into mine and seemed as though she could see straight into my soul. I couldn't help but feel sorry for her as she can't feel any emotions, but I knew she was already used to it and that even if she someday felt any sort of emotions, she wouldn't like it.

She didn't answer and glanced at the happy villagers walking through the street, doing their daily jobs. 'Nothing to worry about Sentaro' I nodded, although I could tell she was uncomfortable here. I began to wonder if it was the correct desicion to bring her here. I came out of my thoughts as we approached another large red building.

We followed Kotetsu inside and down a cast corridor which had many twists and turns. Setsuna kept her eyes at front and walked with grace. I saddened me to see her this way, although to others she would seem like perfect.

Suddenly, our guide stopped in front of a door with the words 'Room 201' on it (A/N Still don't know what room they are in, sorry) and turned around to face us. "Wait out here until I let you in, ok?" He more than asks. He smiles down at Setsu (A/N His nick for her ;)) before sliding the door open and walking inside.

From here, I could hear him talking to the sensei "Iruka-san, you have a new student joining you for the next few days" This 'Iruka' sounded surprised at this for some reason "Really? But will they be prepared for the upcoming graduation exam?" 'Oh!' I though. It doesn't really matter though, Setsu is stronger than myself so it shouldn't matter. I'm sure she also doesn't care.

"Ready Setsu?" I asked said just previously mentioned girl as I heard the footsteps approach the door. She looked up at me and nodded as I tightened my hand around hers.

The door the slid open to show Kotetsu with a smile. "You can go inside now and meet your temporary sensei. I'll be here to pick you up as soon as the academy ends" "Thank you very much Kotetsu" I bowed and saw from the corner of my eyes that Setsuna was bowing as well. He soon left with a grin plastered over his face. Setsu and I shared a look before walking inside the room. All heads turned our way and the bickering stopped.

One we were in front of Iruka, Setsu bowed and I nodded. "Ur.. I was saying there was only one new student" I rolled my eyes and pointed at my dear sister. "Setsuna is the one joining your class-" I started at a volume which he'd be the only one to hear me "-But she go anywhere without me so Lord Hokage has allowed me to join you" Iruka gave a nod and smiled down at Setsuna, offering a hand shake.

Setsuna looked at her new sensei's outstretched hand without any expression and dull eyes. She didn't take her hand out of mine to shake his, so he chuckled nervously and placed his hand back to his side. "Well, Setsuna, It's nice to meet you. I'm Iruka, but you can call me Iruka-sensei" Sister merely blinked once and turned to me 'What do I do now?' I smiled and said "She can't talk"

That made him flinch slightly and he scratched at the back of his neck "Ah.. I apologise. Anyway-" He turned to the rest of the class "Everyone, this is the new student. Setsuna. Make her feel welcome and don't-" Just as he was about to continue, the door slammed open and in came a panting chunin. "Iruka.. It's Naruto.." Iruka gasped "Again, what he do this time?" He asked more to himself before running out the door. However he didn't leave before saying "I'll be right back. Behave!"

Setsuna sighed mutely and shook her head. 'Can we go sit down?' She asked, still looking around the class at all of the staring students. I growled once noticing most of the boys looking my Setsuna over with blushes, but said being stared at girl didn't seem to care one bit. I also noticed the girls glaring at her, except for one or two.

Sighing, I finally answered her previous question "Sure, where do you wanna sit?" 'Somewhere in the back and where there won't be much noise' I agreed with her on that one. We both hated loud noises since our ears were very sensitive.

We both began making out way up towards the back desks where there were two open seats beside the window and just our luck that there was a sleeping boy sitting at the end, meaning he's a 'lazy and I can't be bothered' type. Whilst I sat in the middle, Setsu sat right beside the window and glanced outside with a peaceful look on her face. Well, what was her normal look, but her eyes held peace.

She then turned back to the front as two girls stomped over to us. I noticed that when they looked at me, they would bluch, but when they looked at Setsuna, they would glare. Setsuna sighed a more than quiet sigh and I gripped her hand tightly.

(Setsuna's POV)

When I looked out the window from my new seat, I saw how quiet and peaceful the village looked. Many birds were chirping in a nearby tree and the wind was blowing at a calming pace.

I was snapped out of my dazed state as I felt the pressure of two other students coming towards us. It was a girl with long pink hair and green eyes, and a girl with long blonde hair in a ponytail with light blue eyes.. which were seemingly pupilless.

I happened to notice that once they looked at Sentaro, they would blush, but then as they looked at me, they would glare. All together, I didn't care and I didn't feel anything. Sentaro's grip on my hand harderend and I could feel anger burning up inside of him.. why?

The pink haired girl was the first to speak up "Hey, new girl. Is there anyone in here that you like?" I blinked once, twice and a third time. 'I like?' It's not possible to like someone just by looking at them and I don't even feel such emotions. When they noticed I wouldn't answer, the blonde haired girl slammed her hand on the table, making the sleeping boy flinch awake. I, however, did not move one bit and stared with dull eyes and no facial expression.

The girls action got Sentaro angry as he stood up, hand still tightened around mine. "Please, leave Setsuno alone. She doesn't like loud noises" I tugged on his hand, making him sit back in his seat and letting him cool off. The girls gulped and nodded before scurrying back to where they previously where.

The room was silent as most of the other students stared at us with wide eyes, all except three boys and a girl. The girl had short purple hair and white eyes.. probably from the Hyuga clan. The first boy wore glasses and had a high collar, the second was the one who was sleeping besides us and the last was a boy with raven black hair with a tint of blue and also quite dull eyes.

The doors suddenly flew open and in walked Iruka with a blonde boy being dragged behind him, tied up with thick ropes. He dropped the blonde boy in the center of the front of the room and began shouting at him about being a ninja "You failed the graduation test last time, tomorrow you've got another chance and your messing up again!" When Naruto (which I learnt was his name) ignored him, Sentaro snickered.

"Fine! Because you missed it, eveyone will review the transformation jutsu" There was a chorus of 'ow's' coming from almost everyone in the room. As they all began walking to the front of the room, I stood up to join them, but Sentaro stayed seated 'Are you staying here?' I asked. He nodded and gave a yawn before laying his head on his arms and closing his eyes.

Once I was down at the front of the room, I stood behind Naruto and before the sleepy boy and blonde girl who was just behind him. Iruka called up the pink haired girl, who I now know is called Sakura, and she transformed into Iruka himself. "Transformed into me, good job"

Sakura jumped up and down on the spot with a blush whilst looked at Sasuke "Sasuke, did you see that?" She asked all cheery. I kept my eyes forward and watched as Sasuke then transformed into Iruka as well. "Next, Naruto Uzumaki" He called and the blonde boy walked forward.

When the cloud was gone, it was shown that Naruto had transformed into an older girl version of himself, naked, with clouds covering her parts. Iruka got a nosebleed and flew backwards. I watched silently and barely blinking as all this happened, not really caring. "Cut your stupid tricks!!" He shouted at the blonde boy with an irk mark. "This is your last warning!"

Once it was quiet again, Iruka read the next name on the list "Next is Setsuna Kanashimi" I nodded and tood a few steps forward. Placing my hand in the handsign, a cloud of smoke surrounded me before quickly clearing and revealing Sentaro. I heard him laughing from the back "Great one Setsu! You really bring out the best in me" He smirked and I merely nodded. He seemed disappointed with reaction and sighed, leaving back in his seat.

I transformed back into myself and walked over to my brother without listening to whatever Iruka would have said.

"Ready to leave Setsu?" Sentaro asked as Iruka left the room ton wherever. I nodded and stood up, following him down towards the door. However, as I was walking, someone moved their leg in front of me and I tripped over it. My face was expressionless as I fell forward and I didn't even let out a squeak.

As If feeling something was wrong, Sentaro turned around and quickly caught me around the waist. He stood me back up and grabbed my hand. "Are you ok?" I nodded 'I'm fine, lets leave' He nodded and turned around. However didnt leave before saying "Don't ever try and hurt her again' to the girl who tried to hurt me.

I noticed Sasuke looked at me with a scowl, but I didn't glare back, I merely kept a straight face and turned around to face the front. We walked out the academy entrance and met with Kotetsu who began leading us towards out new house. 'Thanks for helping me Sentaro' I stated as we began our way through the streets. He chuckled and kissed my cheek "No problem. You know I'll always be there to help you" I nodded and walked closer to him, hugging his arm.

After around another 5 minutes, we stopped infront of a building and Kotetsu turned to us with a smile "Your on the second floor, room 18. Everything's been set up for you, including food. Remember that the academy starts at 8am tomorrow morning. I'll see you around" "Yeh, thank!" Sentaro shouted as he stalked off back down the streets towards the village gates.

The two of us made our way inside the building and up the stairs. Once on the second floor, we stopping in front of the room with the number '18' on it and Sentaro took out his key, placing it in the key-hole and opening the door. We slowly stepped into our new home and breathed in the new home smell. Sentaro grinned and instantly ran to take a look around, while I walked like a normal human being.

I noticed that it had taken a while to get here, seeing as outside, the sun was beginning to go down. All of a sudden, Sentaro jumped in front of me with a slight frown 'What's wrong Sentaro?' I asked dully. "Well, there's only one bedroom" I nodded 'Is it a double or single?' "Double" 'I see.. we can share. Do you mind?' He shook his head and took my hand, dragging me to what seemed like the bedroom.

"I don't mind at all. We've shared a room many times before" I nodded and sat down on the bed, gingerly placed my Shamisen in my lap and beginning to play. The tune I played was soft and gentle, turning stronger in the middle, and becoming gentle again at the end. Sentaro stayed silent during the whole time I played and clapped at the end. He always loved it when I played the Shamisen, told me that I made 'the most beautiful sound' "Amazing as always Setsuna" I nodded as thanks and placed it beside the bed, standing upright.

Turning around, I took out a pair of short black shorts and a red off the shoulder top from my bag and began undressing. "Setsuna!" Sentaro suddenly shouted. I turned to face him with a neutral expression, only to see him looking the other way 'What's wrong all of a sudden?' "You can't just change in front of an older guy like that!" '..Why?' He seemed to struggle with words but I shrugged it off and quickly changed, placing my clothes neatly on a chair. 'You get changed as well Sentaro. I want to sleep' He nodded and walked into the bathroom with his bag, soon after coming out in a pair of black jogging pants and no shirt.

I got into bed and lay on the left side, letting Sentaro slide in on the right.

He sighed and turned on his side, facing me with a smile "Goodnight Setsuna" He smiled gently and gave a hug. I looked up at him and gave the most smallest smile possible. His mouth fell open and I went back to being emotionless.

I noticed a tear fall from his eyes and I touched it 'Why are you crying Sentaro?' He pulled me close, so close that I could feel his breath on my neck "You smiled. It was so small, but it was a smile. Smile more Setsuna, your beautiful when you smile" I blinked a few times

'Night Sentaro' "Sweet dream Setsuna"
