Laxus's Secret
(f/c) = favorite color
The Next Day . . .
Now that he had asked you to the Ball, Laxus had to move to his next step. Of course, he still had to look for a nice tuxedo but this was more important. At least to him it was. He had never told anybody this secret and he wasn't planning on it. He honestly never thought he would need to do this, but now that the Ball is right around the corner and he has you as a date, he can't afford to look silly. He'd die of embarrassment.
Laxus walked down the streets of Magnolia, looking in the windows of different stores. None of them having what he was looking for. At least not a first glance. He never actually went inside the stores. He didn't have the time. He had business to take care of. And fast! His mind was filled with thoughts of you and him at the Ball together. You were in a beautiful one strap dress with matching high heels. Your (h/c) hair was perfectly done and you were smiling the whole time. The smile he loved ever so much. Those pink lips of yours and the smile they formed brought out the (e/c) color in your eyes. He would make sure to make that into reality. He would make that night perfect. Just for you.
"Laxus?" A voice snapped Laxus out of his daydream. He looked up and saw Freed standing a few feet in front of him. "I thought that was you. What are you doing out here in the middle of the day. You don't usually shop." Freed asked the tall blond. Then a light bulb went off in the green haired man's head. Laxus opened his mouth to speak, but Freed beat him to it. "Are you out looking for a tuxedo?" He asked with a sparkle in his eye. "Yeah." Laxus lied, "Sure am." He couldn't risk anyone finding out about what he was actually doing.
"Great! Come with me!" Freed was almost too happy, for Laxus's taste, about shopping for a tuxedo. Nevertheless, the blond followed Freed to a store which sold formal outfits. They went straight to the men's section and began looking at different tuxedos. Laxus didn't really know what to look for. He's never bought a tuxedo before. Then he heard some girls giggling on the other side of the store. He groaned in both annoyance and frustration.
That is, until he heard your name somewhere in the conversation. He looked in the direction of the voices and saw familiar faces. Standing there was Erza, Mira, Lisanna, Cana, Lucy, Wendy, and, of course, you. He gulped when his eyes landed on you. He thought about that daydream from earlier and a blush covered his cheeks. "Laxus, are you alright?" Freed asked and looked in the direction that Laxus was staring. "Staring at [Name] again?" He teased. Laxus's blush went darker as he tore his eyes away from you. "N-No! Of course not!" He defended.
Laxus did secretly watch you though. Secretly as in, he looked at you until you lifted your head and he would duck down to avoid being seen. Freed kept teasing his leader, but Laxus just ignored him. He watched you pick out and purchase a (f/c) dress. After you left, he went back to searching for tuxedos. He was determined to get a (f/c) one to match your dress. Normally, he wouldn't have cared about matching. Did it really matter? However, Evergreen had told him that girls prefer it when the guy matches with the girl.
By the time Laxus had found and bought a tuxedo, the sun was setting. Dammit, he thought. Did he still have time to complete his original goal? Was the store even still open? In a last stitch effort, Laxus raced around the streets. He came upon a video store and a light of hope grew within him. Please be here, he prayed to himself. He went inside and looked around. He smiled when he found what he was looking for and quickly scanned the room to make sure that nobody was watching him. Buying this was embarrassing enough.
He went to the register and the female cashier gave him a raised eyebrow when she looked at what Laxus was buying. He avoided eye contact with the lady and a pink blush surfaced on his face. He quickly paid her and left the store. That was too embarrassing for him, but he was willing to do it. Because it was all for you. He would do anything for you.
When Laxus got home, he put away his tuxedo and went to the living room. He opened the case and took out the DVD. He played it and sat back on the couch. As he watched, he tried his best to take everything in. It was just so much. It looked so complicated. Did people really do this? Laxus scratched his head and groaned in frustration. This was all new to him, but he was determined to do this for you. He didn't want to embarrass you or himself.
He had to try to memorize everything exactly. He never thought he would do this, but it was time. It was time for Laxus to learn how to dance.
