"Yes, of course," I said, pulling my food closer to me so as not to crowd Josh out. He sat on the other side of the table and unwrapped his chalupa.

I started eating my food, which was a little cold. I'd intended to eat while I read, but I'd become so engrossed in the story that I'd forgotten where I was, and my food had remained untouched.

"How are you today?" Josh asked finally, taking a drink from his cup. For some reason, he didn't have a lid or a straw on it, so I could see the liquid inside; it looked like Sprite.

I thought it was really nice of him to ask me how I was doing, since usually the only person who asks is Melanie.

"I'm okay," I responded, also taking a sip from my drink, which was a Dr. Pepper. I would have gotten a coke, but they didn't have any, and I detest Pepsi. "How are you?"

"Also okay." He took a bite out of his chalupa. "You here on lunch break?"

"Yeah, I work at a record store downtown, part time."

"Oh, that's cool! I work at Guitar Center on weekends. I come here almost every day." Josh smiled sheepishly. "Man, I really like Taco Bell."

"Me too." I smiled back. "I worked here for a while, actually."

"No way, did you get free tacos?"

"I wish."

We both laughed for a minute before going back to our food. I didn't know I was so hungry until I'd started eating. My book had really distracted me.

"What are you reading?" Josh asked, as if he knew what I was thinking. He was holding a chalupa with most of his hand, but he poked my book with his pinkie. I thought it was kind of cute.

"A Series Of Unfortunate Events, Book Six: The Ersatz Elevator, by Lemony Snicket."

"I've never heard of it," Josh said, looking curiously at the cover, which featured one of the protagonists climbing out of an elevator shaft. "What's it about?"

"Basically three orphans get into a lot of trouble, frequently." I finished my first taco and unwrapped my second one.

Josh studied the cover for a moment more before taking another drink from his Sprite. "Is Lemony Snicket his real name?"

"I think it's just a pen name. Would you name your  child Lemony?"

"Must have been a real sour baby."
