{Part Seventy-five}

I had just enough money to pay for my college bill, which was a staggering amount of money considering I was going to Columbus Community College and not Harvard.

After that, I had only two hundred and twenty-one dollars in my bank account. With a sinking feeling, I realized that while I would be able to pay my rent this month, I would have little left over for groceries and other necessities.

I loved my job at Galaxy Records. Nina and Molly were so nice to me, and the job itself was easy and something I enjoyed a lot. I couldn't quiet it just yet, but I had to find a way to make some money.

Slowly, I carried my bills and the letter for my sister down to the lobby, and slid them in the mail slot. I felt guilty for wanting to take Madison's twenty dollars back.

"Money problems?" said a voice. I turned to see Juan, my neighbor, leaning against the propped-open door of the apartment complex, smoking a cigarette. Technically, he was supposed to smoke outside, but since the apartment manager was rarely around, Juan could get away with it easily.

"How did you know?" I asked with a sigh.

"Just mailed a bunch of bills with a grim look on your face." He puffed his cigarette.

I shrugged slightly, not really in the mood to converse with him. Then, I got an idea. A possibly terrible one, but an idea nonetheless. "Do you know of any way I could make money quickly?"

Juan chuckled, tapped his cigarette against teh edge of the door. "There are a lot of ways to make money quickly, kid, but most of them are illegal, and I get the feeilng you might not be desperate enough just yet."

"Don't call me 'kid', I'm probably almost as old as you are."

"Then don't wear dinosaur pajama pants to mail your bills," Juan pointed out.

Embarassed, I started to walk back to the stairs that would take me to my flat, but he stopped me. "Hey, hold up."

Instead of stopping, I slowed my pace so he could walk next to me. "What?"

"I do know of a legal way for you to make money."

"How?"

Juan gave me a crooked, slightly devious grin. "Well, I heard you got a new car radio recently, and I've got a buddy who needs one for his ride."
