Chapter 8: Blazing Fire...
- Ahh! Huitzi gets up again and, despite his burned body, shows a devilish smile!
Aztlan Gods raised their cries of emotion, even despite the state of his representative. In Coa's heart came a feeling of fervor and determination she hadn't had before, which prompted her to cry out in great excitement, like a young girl she was no longer.
- Come on son! We trust you!
Seeing so much emotion on part of the gods, Patroclus and his friends weren't far behind, and exclaimed with loud voices.
- Guys! Let's support Achilles!
- Achilles! You can bro!
- Do it bro! Kill that God!
- Win, hero of Greece! - trojans also shouted at him to support.
- Achilles, hero of Greece! Win against that God!
Meanwhile, the youngest of the Valkyries wasn't far behind the screams.
- Achilles! You can save humanity and my sisters! Just do it!
Achilles clenched his red-hot fists after hearing those words of encouragement, and gaze fixed on Huitzi. The God, despite having his body burned and cut in that way, raised his face with a bloodthirsty look.
- Let me spill your blood "God".
- So let me kill you, blessed God of war!
They both ran and with strength they had left, hit each other in face. Achilles with fist emitting heat marked Huitzi's face, and the God with bestial strength almost managed to knock down his rival.
- A direct hit between them! And we're getting closer to the end!
- Achilles, you're an idiot! - Athena yelled at him with a lot of frustration - Cut his throat once or something!
- Calm down Athena! The fight isn't over yet.
- But he could finish it right now!
Achilles managed to recover from the almost knockout caused by the God, and without thinking kicked the opponent's belly to create distance.
Once Huitzi broke away and tried to regain defensive stance, Achilles ran at him to deliver a flurry of searing blows. With each of his fists the temperature increased, seen by the trails of smoke it left behind.
The heat rose, so the damage to the God's body was more than proportional. Huitzi took a good part of those blows, although it was wearing him out.
But suddenly opened his eyes and his fighting strategy changed again; dodged the half-god's blows with ease, like water over rocks, then hit him with the tyrannical force he possessed.
« What!? This... Cannot be! He didn't do this before! »
- Remember I've killed 400 gods by myself! - Huitzi gave a frantic laugh - I know 400 ways in which your attacks will come, and you chose the most obvious!
- Huitzi effortlessly deflects and responds to Achilles' attacks! As if he was dancing with his arms!
Achilles increased the speed of his blows, at the same time the temperature of him emitted much more steam.
- I don't think you've ever faced someone with fire in their hands!
- I must admit this is original, but it won't be enough to win!
- We'll see!
The half-god left his frantic beacon and began a new attack "strategy": powerful, fiery random strikes throughout the arena, to scare the God into defensive action. In mind, Achilles smiled as saw his goal accomplished.
« With this I'll get extra time... Now must think of a way to defeat him! »
The God carefully dodged the desperate and random blows of his rival, trying to analyze his reasons; though didn't seem like it, the Blood Demon mind was very efficient at working with strategy. In the midst of his thoughts came to another conclusion.
« Ambrosy. A wonderful power you use until now... Maybe because it means a great wear physically speaking »
A blow from Achilles hit the ground, creating a huge crater from which the Southern Hummingbird could barely escape. At that moment the god had a closer vision of the Greek, realizing his body didn't appear injured by that power.
« No, it doesn't seem to be that. He continues without showing additional effort or fatigue. There must be some other reason... »
At the same time, Achilles thought behind each blow.
« He hasn't dared to hit me since I started this frenzy... I guess this plan is working better than I expected. »
The Greek took a punch into the air, but his opponent dodged it and jumped up to create good distance. At that moment Achilles came to another conclusion that surprised him.
« It seems that... he wants to buy time just like... That means... Is he also making a strategy? This insane? It doesn't matter anymore; In that case I must beat him before gets an idea! »
Achilles caught up with his rival and began a series of random blows again, this time more desperate, which caught the attention of God.
« Such a desperate frenzy. It seems that... » As soon as he noticed him, his lips smiled. « He's not very good at handling this trick; he has never used it or does not usually do it. That inexperience means one thing... A great opportunity for me! »
The God tried to get closer, but such a frenzy of Achilles destroying the ground under their feet didn't allow him to close the distance. The Greek also realized what he wanted to do with his rival.
« H-He wants to do something now! There is no time, I must defeat him! » hit the ground hard, kicking up stones combining smoke and hot steam.
- Achilles doesn't allow a single opening! No matter what the God of War wants to prove, Greece's Hero doesn't allow his rival any chance!
The Greek continued with his random burst on the ground. But, at a given moment he gave an opening to God; running to the side, despite receiving some flying stones, he freed himself from the wall of smoke and rocks.
However, getting rid of it meant all of his flanks were exposed without defense. The Greek noticed and smiled.
- I got you... - « What I needed... Change of strategy! »
- Huh!?
Suddenly the Greek fighting style changed to the original: his blows were ordered and direct to his exposed spots, unlike previous random flurry.
The god's position didn't allow him to even extend arms in defense, so took the half-gods' pounding blows completely.
Due to the force of the blows and the fire now burned in his hands, Huitzi suffered serious burns as soon as received the blows. Coa got very scared as he watched his son slowly burn after the gusts of blows.
- Son!
- Achilles hits Huitzi squarely with his fists of fire, with which he manages to burn him!
- Don't die soon, Southern Hummingbird! - Thunder Berserker got up from his seat, looking very excited.
Unfortunately he still hadn't noticed Syf's presence. She nostalgically patted the Nordic's arm; in the end could only sigh in boredom.
- I should change my name to "Lu Bu Housen". Maybe that way my darling will pay attention to me.
- Don't say or do that, Mrs. Syf!
Although he was unaware of the relationship, Forseti intervened on Thor's behalf.
- Even if it doesn't seem like it... He loves you very much! T-Think of you!
- As in our daughters?
Syf had a sad expression, remembering what happened a thousand years ago with her daughter Prour.
That news had broken her heart; and despite having allowed all of her insults against Shiva and Thor himself to allow the fight, she sometimes still had a void in heart.
- I don't think he thinks of me. Not after Valkyries' death in the previous Ragnarok.
- B-But your other daughters! Lif and Lifthrasir girls!
- They... - the goddess sighed with a mysterious aura - No. I really couldn't be sure he cares about them 2.
- But it's the truth! Otherwise, he wouldn't have allowed Brökk and Eitri to be Geir's blacksmiths for this Ragnarok!
The goddess looked at him quite surprised by that statement.
- What they... do what?
- They asked permission to help Geir to make divine weapons for the Einherjer, and lord Thor agreed...Lord Thor does think about the welfare of the Valkyries!
« Well... » Forseti felt a little nervous « In fact he gave them permission for the Valkyrie to have a chance in this Ragnarok. But... Everything is for the welfare of lord Thor! »
She thought for a few seconds, until a flirtatious blush crept up her cheeks and a smile on her lips.
- Well... you may be right, Forseti. My darling Thor does think of others - rested her head on Berserker's shoulder.
With a great incendiary explosion, Huitzi almost fell to the ground but was immediately able to stand up. Achilles could only be greatly surprised at her quick recovery.
- My turn, "God"!
The Mexica clenched both fists and immediately responded with a flurry of attacks; didn't generate the same damage as Achilles, but his physical strength was much greater.
A second difference was the way he struck with fists: for the first time Huitzi struck strategically to knock the half-god down.
With a couple of punches to the stomach over the wound on his pierced body, it caused the half-gods to spit blood and lose his rhythm.
- Haha! I got you!
Immediately after, his fists met and delivered an uppercut to Achilles' jaw, knocking him off balance and onto the ground. Very surprised by everything that happened, Achilles could only get up to try to fight back, but it didn't work.
The God was the first to act, clenching his left hand to deliver a single, accurate punch to Achilles's head. With that blow the Greek was so stunned he fell to the ground and crawled around him a little.
That blow, although had stunned him, he was still slightly conscious so tried to get up to attack. But the God, with clear intentions of winning once and for all, ran to his rival and with a stomp buried his rival's head in the ground, shaking the arena in the process and with the clear fact that Achilles was unconscious from that moment.
Silence in the stands arose after those violent and rapid blows; it mattered little to Huitzi who raised his face full of blood and burning with a proud smile. With that expression, disturbing but victorious, the gods exchanged their surprise for a joy of celebration.
- Yeah! Our great Huitzi! He got it!
- One more victory for the gods!
- So it must be a good fight! Learn, gods of 1000 years ago!
- My son! - Coa hugged Cuahui with tears of emotion and a wide smile - He won! Your brother won! Yessss!!
Cuahui clenched his fists with the same expression as his mother.
Huitzi could only smirk, giving a whisper to himself and to the unconscious Achilles.
- Once this is over... I'll take care of bathing in your blood, but maybe not today. You gained one more day.
- This is impressive! - Heimdall spoke with great surprise - Huitzi with just a couple of blows defeated the wrath of Achilles! An act worthy of the Mexica God of War!
In the stands, Athena threw a tantrum with childish tears, reaching the floor to further aggravate her scene.
- Dammit! My pretty Achilles lost, and to top it off he was very humiliated!
- Why did you want to beat a human? - Ares exclaimed indignantly - You are a goddess! And he a half-god who sided with the humans!
- Shut up Ares! You have no right to think if you lost to Hercules!
Ares was very upset with his sister, but didn't do anything else. Athena looked at the sand, especially at the head of Achilles under the Mexica's foot.
- Just see how they left my boy! He's slaughtered and with his head under the ground!
- We've to wait for Heimdall to give Hiitzi the victory - Hermes spoke quietly - Then you can go with Achilles and send him to the infirmary to attend to his wounds in time.
- Heimdall better get this over with quickly! - Athena leaned back in her chair still angry at her.
- History has repeated! - Heimdall began to celebrate, allowing his emotion to be expelled - In the same way Thunder Berserker defeated the strongest human of the 3 kingdoms with a blow to the head, so the mexica Southern Hummingbird defeats the half-god of Greece!
The humans in the stands could only feel desperate with that situation. But, the first to scream wasn't a human but a half-goddess.
- Achilles...! Don't give up! - Geir squeezed the rail of her personal seat - Please don't give up!
- Achilles! You must be kidding me! - Patroclus exclaimed in the same way - Don't be an idiot bro! Get up and show God it's wrong! That punch is nothing to bring you down!
And immediately the other friends of his joined with in shouting at him.
- Stand up and win, for all of us!
- Achilles! Get up bro, that's nothing!
- Get up one last time!
- Well... There's nothing to say! - Heimdall raised an arm victoriously - The victory of this first Ragnarok round is for Huit-!
- No.
The dry voice of the Greek scared Huitzi very much, who lowered his eyes to the ground. In foreground could see the half-god turning his face to look at him with golden eyes full of anger.
- Y-You...!
- This isn't finished yet!
Achilles jumped his head out of the ground and threw Huitzi's balance sending him falling backwards. Raised his fist, which immediately turned red, and with a sharp blow to the Mexica's face sent him to the ground, that was felt in the stadium.
The noise in the stands was invaded by a sudden surprise left them silent. The first to speak, Heimdall, blinked a couple of times as surprised as everyone.
- I-It can't be...! Achilles has gotten up again and now leaves Huitzi on the ground!
Patroclus let out a laugh of triumph along with his friends.
- Amazing! That's my bro!
- Very well done, hero of Greece! - Hector was also quite excited about it.
Achilles was breathing heavily due to the excessive exhaustion in his body, trying to sit up completely.
Shortly after the God of war recovered from that blow, and with his face badly scarred by said blow gave Achilles a sadistic smile.
- Damn! You're still conscious, "God"!
- For a moment I was, but be able to recover in time.
- I can see it! You don't even fall under my feet, right?
Achilles raised a proud countenance, one clenched fist driving at his chest.
- I am the soldier of Thessaly, of Greece and of all mankind: Achilles! Not even death will stop me!
Huitzi laughed very amused.
- Death won't stop you... Then we'll stay in this forever!
- Yeah... But, with I'm more willing to reach the end, blessed God of war!
- Same, "God"!
Both rivals with the same smile prepared their fists to attack each other again. In the stands emotion gripped everyone.
- C'mon! You can bro!
- My son! Win!
- Achilles, don't even think about losing!
- Come on brother! Show how Aztlan king is!
- Everyone is excited! Everybody scream! And we all want the same thing: the conclusion of this first big fight!
The Greek raised his red fists and was the first to attack again. But, as soon as moved his feet to get closer to the God, a slight pain was more like a tingling in his leg caused him not to move, but to direct his gaze to the ground.
Then saw, taking his left heel with a very soft and almost playful bite, was a snake.
But it was a strange snake; its head was adorned with colorful plumage, and its elongated and apparently wounded body also had those colored feathers, as well as a row of sharp rocks on its back. The most unusual thing was the tail, which looked more like the hilt of a weapon.
The Greek was very confused, and Huitzi even more so when he identified the animal.
- What the hell?
- A snake in the arena! There's a snake in the arena is biting the left heel of the half-god of Greece!
Zeus's dark eye sockets lit up with his eyes.
- Ohhhh~!
- An invading snake - commented Hermes under breath.
- W-We must do something! - Ares exclaimed immediately - A snake got into the sand! We must stop it!
- No, you're wrong.
The God of war returned to his sister, taking a surprise to see Athena looked fearfully at the snake. For the first time, Ares saw an expression like that on the girl.
- What are you talking about!?
- Y-You're wrong... - Even the Goddess was speaking with tremble - You're wrong... Because that snake isn't an invader. He's been in the arena all this time.
- What do you say!?
Achilles leaned down and carefully took hold of the animal's head, to loosen its heel, and lifted it up to his face for a closer look.
- What the hell? What is this snake doing...? - The Greek addressed God - Is a friend of yours?
Suddenly the snake gave Achilles an aggressive growl, baring its teeth and making the Greek frightened, to which knocked it to the ground.
Once on the ground, the snake growled again at Achilles and then dragged Huitzi.
- T-That snake...! - Cuahui was surprised to recognize her - It's...
- She's my Xiau! - Coa finished with her eyes wide open with a spark of curiosity - S-She's my snake! The gift I gave to Huitzi!
- B-But... How is it alive!?
Gods and humans, mostly ignorant of the existence of that snake, could only be left confused. One of them was obviously Ares.
- I don't understand!
Was Zeus who explained the situation.
- That snake is the weapon Huitzi had from the beginning of this fight.
- Really? Was that... strange sword?
- Yes, just like Thor's Mjölnir. It's a living weapon, although in this case 'cause it's an animal.
- How is it possible?
- Don't ask me. My rays aren't alive to know.
- You shouldn't worry about it, stupid Ares - replied Athena, tearing her hair with concern - You should worry the snake is alive... even though it was recently destroyed by hand of my pretty Achilles...
- ... It's true! - Ares shifted his focus - How is it still alive after that blow!?
In the stands, Geir fell from seat to the ground, various memories pounding her head to comprehend the situation.
- How... How is this... happening?
Between her memories, valkyrie had in mind Lu Bu Housen and her older sister Rangdriz, as the "shield-breaker" needed to destroy Thor's gloves.
- Lu Bu destroyed the gloves and that caused the awakening of Mjölnir. Achilles destroyed the weapon, but... That snake shouldn't "wake up", but be dead.
From so much thinking, her head gave the solution: Achilles with the point of the weapon embedded in his arm, which seconds later threw to the ground, while Huitzi dropped the hilt of weapon, which was also intact.
2 pieces of the animal-weapon, head and tail, intact even when destroyed. As soon as she realized it, Geir put head in her hands.
- No. T-The snake was still alive all this time... No!
Xiau arrived at Huitzi's foot, looking at him with an aggressive aura. Then dragged his body to climb the God, being careful not to hurt him in the wounds already had, until reached his right arm where rested. Huitzi just smile sarcastically.
- All your life you hated me for attacking Cuahui... Now do you want to cooperate?
The snake growled, though it was approval. Achilles was still shocked, but could easily figure out what happened.
- That snake was your weapon!
- How quickly you learn "God".
- But I destroyed it.
- Except for the metal spike on your arm and the handle I was holding. His head and tail-heart.
The Greek wanted to ask more questions but this wasn't the time. His anger ignited his fists, which he raised offensively.
- It doesn't matter how it got here! You and I will finish this.
- Yes... - Huitzi expressed with some discomfort - You know? I really didn't want to use Xiau. But now she's awake and you have your fists of fire... Let's see if you can beat this...
Huitzi's face twisted into a mischievous smile and took the snake from tail haft from him, so Xiau rose into the air above the god with a glare at Achilles.
Many in the spectators of humanity were scared and confused, especially the friends of the Greek half-god.
- Achilles! Be very careful!
- But don't stop! You're close to victory!
- Close to victory... - the Greek whispered to himself, with a slight glance towards his friends and Geir - Yes, it's true... I'm close to winning.
- Hermes, you know more about these things, is it really possible?
- Let's see... - The messenger raised a hand to chin - As Hephaestus once told me, in theory can turn an animal into a weapon. In that case, the effect should be reversed.
- Who cares? - Athena exclaimed furious and worried - My pretty Achilles is lost!
- For a snake that regenerates?
- That's not the only reason, Ares - Zeus explained smiling openly - That serpent-weapon is the most powerful of the Mexica pantheon. And overall, it's one of the most powerful weapons in Heaven...even above Thor's Mjölnir, Odin's Gugnir spear, and my thunderbolts.
- What?!
- That snake has shaken and broken many records, but for millennia it was covered in mystery to us. Only until Huitzi ascended the throne of Aztlan were we able to learn many things about that dangerous animal...
» First, it has lived for many generations, which have given it knowledge to make it a very intelligent animal. It too has been made very powerful by animal experience; it's too dangerous a living weapon by all standards.
» And secondly, its very name tells us more about it.
- Look and receive this, "God"...
Huitzi raised his arms pointing Xiau to the sky, and then began to move the snake in circles.
First in light and small circles surrounded the air zone where he was, soon after turning quickly a tornado was formed, reaching greater speed and spreading in the air in a larger area and volume than before. Even generated a strong air current shook the stands and attracted light things from the ground, like dust and small stones.
- Xiauhcoatl, the name of the snake, means "Fire Serpent".
Suddenly it emerged into a dense cloud of smoke, and before anyone in the stands or Achilles himself could speak, the snake burst into flames, now forming a great tornado of fire.
- I-It's on fire! The Mexica snake is on fire!
- That's the power of that serpent - concluded the Greek God - A "Fire Serpent" that can literally turn into fire.
- You better Achilles not die! - Athena exclaimed very angry and scared towards the arena.
- It's just like Mjölnir, lord Thor! - Forseti stared wide-eyed at the fire tornado - He's using all of his power!
- So envy! - Thor smiled sideways with emotion.
- Typical of you, darling - Syf commented although this time she didn't show annoyance.
- "God"! - exclaimed the mexica of war with a bloody smile and golden eyes illuminated by fire - Survive this!
Put his hands behind back and stopped swinging the weapon as Xiau stood tall, towering over the stands. The smoke dissipated completely, and like a building the animal in fire began to fall at great speed, while Huitzi knocked it down with his arms.
- That attack is...! - Coa remembered how the snake in the past had done something similar to protect her.
- It's my brother's most powerful attack...!
- Fire Eater!
Xiau swooped down to the ground, opening his flaming, toothy snout to crush Achilles with one bite.
The half-god, using his mind visualized what was about to happen, and then readied his right arm. Geir saw what was doing, and couldn't help but remember what happened 1000 years ago when Lu Bu wanted to do something similar.
- Achilles! Get out of there! - Without avoiding it, the Valkyrie began to cry.
- Ahhh!
Achilles ran towards the snake and acted with the seconds very well counted.
As soon as Xiau was a few centimeters from hitting his attack, the half-god made Diomedes's turn to dodge it, and with the serpent's head at his mercy Achilles gathered all the strength of his right fist and hit the animal's jaw to finish it off.
Xiau ended up biting the ground; at the moment of sinking his teeth, the fire contained in itself was transferred and emitted a great sound burst, very bright and especially terrifyingly hot spread, even in small bursts of fire that came out of the seats in the stands.
The whole show like a volcano erupting below the stadium.
- Ahhh! - Heimdall frightened extinguished the flames hit him in clothes - The arena is on fire!
- It can't be! That's Xiau's most powerful attack: Fire Eater! - Cuahui was very surprised by what he managed to observe before the explosion - T-That half-god dodged it with a blow!
- Son! You have my snake in your hands! - The hope of his mother didn't diminish - Finish him!
Huitzi was also shocked by Achilles' suicidal blow, but could only feel his sixth sense in his body.
- Brilliant! I didn't expect you to be so close to my snake.
- I didn't expect it either. It occurred to me at the last minute!
- Excellent! But we're not done!
The God used strength in his grip to pull Xiau out of the ground, who also played his part. Both joined to attack the Greek.
As if it were a whip, the God threw the snake towards the half-god to get some bite. But having witnessed the devastating power of this animal caused him to deviate at all costs.
With each blow he dodged, Huizti tried to analyze Achilles to hit him at some key point. However, the smoke and steam emerged from the fiery fists of half-god didn't allow any of the rivals to see themselves clearly, but more so for the Mexica God.
Then the God decided to change his strategy. He one last time threw Xiau's head at Achilles, who deflected it by moving his body and using his fiery fist.
The moment the snake received the punch, the God jumped back and dug his feet into the ground.
- What...?
- Arghhh!
Taking advantage of the force of Achilles' blow and his feet nailed to the ground, Huitzi generated a centrifugal force to spin together with the snake, generating a disk.
The first lap was slow, so the half-god wanted to get closer. But, just a couple of meters from his target, the snake finished its cycle and reached him.
- Achilles! - Patroclus was scared - Be careful!
Without being able to avoid it, the Greek fully received the body of the animal; like a whip, the centrifugal force sent him flying several feet away.
The half-god fell and rolled a couple of times, but as soon as stopped he stood up again and threw Huitzi again. However, Xiau finished its second cycle and blocked his way; this time Achilles didn't want to pass, besides realized it was now turning faster to form a shield around the God.
- That's another one of his attacks! He used it against the giants attacking Aztlan. - Cuahui and Coa were greatly surprised.
- Sun Disc!
- Huitzi turns and turns with Xiau in hands! Completely preventing the passage to Achilles!
The half-god was quite confused by those turns, as were the human spectators.
- What are you trying to do, blessed God of war!?
Ares and Hermes also viewed that attack with doubt.
- What does that God want to do?
- I don't understand. Neither will get close to his opponent with those spins.
Athena, on the other hand, watched every element of the fight carefully. Her eyes sparkled with a hint of gold along with her fingernails biting in concern.
As soon as visualized what would happen next, her eyes narrowed and she screamed into the arena.
- Achilles, idiot! Move or get out of there!
- What!?
The Greek turned his head for a moment hearing Athena, and also saw what was happening: Xiau's body seemed to have become longer than a few seconds ago, and now reached easier for Achilles who was far from the edge. If not for the half-god jumping back at the last moment, he would've been seriously injured.
« Huh!? The snake got longer!? »
Cuahui by his side just smiled with great emotion and pride, knowing what was happening.
« That spinning motion allows my brother to lay waste to an entire area. Furthermore, the more time passes, Xiau's body elongates by the centrifugal force like a rubber band... This will be over before knows it! »
On the next turn the snake came closer than before, so the half-god had to back up again. But, this time the snake acted so he wouldn't escape.
Opened its muzzle as wide ascould and, without expecting it, one of its longest fangs managed to dig into the half-god's left foot at the last moment.
- Huh?
As soon as felt it had caught him, the snake closed its snout with all its might and hooked the Greek's heel in its jaws. Huitzi noticed and let out an evil laugh.
- I already have you "God"!
The snake, showing no mercy, crushed the half-god's heel with a single bite, in addition to injecting its poison as best it could. The half-god cried out in pain, whereupon his anger disappeared and his golden eyes disappeared.
The God kept spinning until finally stopped just as Xiau released the victim from him. Due to the great centrifugal force, Achilles was sent flying with the speed of sound to the retaining wall, creating a huge hole.
But it wasn't one-sided damage either; the reaction of that attack was, due to the inertia of such a colossal attack, the snake hit the ground resoundingly and Huitzi was thrown into the air, just like his rival but in the opposite direction.
Heimdall, away from danger, commented on it.
- I-Impressive! Not even the mexica God of War could escape the collateral damage resulting from his best attacks!
Patroclus peered through the rubble and smoke resulting from that crash.
- Achilles! Bro!
- Will Achilles... have survived that!?... - Ares asked curiously, to which Atanea responded by pouting.
- He better!
The smoke dispersed slowly; from the second crater in the retaining walls emerged Huitzi, with all open wounds and her fresh blood pouring from him.
- Son...! - Coa cried when saw her son like that way.
- Huitzi is first to leave, in doubtfully stable conditions! But... Can we say the same about Achilles?
At that very moment Achilles came out of his hole. With greater difficulty than his rival, but was able to emerge once more.
Patroclus and his friends were about to celebrate, until they noticed the same thing the Goddess of Wisdom had already seen.
- Oh no...
- Achilles emerges too! And we can see he's...! No, wait! I'm seeing something!
The humans, their friends, and Geir all paid attention, so that they all exclaimed in confusion and fear:
Achilles' left heel was completely shattered. In fact, almost half of his leg was shattered, but was somehow able to stand up. His body was very emaciated and physically exhausted, not to mention the poison was injected into him and was running through his body rapidly.
Seeing his state, a pitiful disappointment flooded Huitzi's eyes.
- So bad. This is over.
- ... Not yet!
Achilles' cry took everyone by surprise. Even in that state raised his face with a look of determination and clenched fists.
- I am not finish yet!
- Achilles is still alive and... is also willing to continue fighting!
- Bro! - Patroclus, like the other boys, was very worried and scared.
Huitzi's face lit up with happiness again. With every word spoke, Achilles felt a little more dead, but didn't give up.
- I'm not ready to fall yet... I'm not ready to die, without first saving humanity!
Then Patroclus' countenance changed to a proud smile.
« Typical of you, idiot... »
- Finish it once and for all, Achilles! - His old nemesis Hector also wanted to support him.
Even the Gods couldn't hide their emotions from him and several of them yelled at the half-god. And obviously one of them was Athena herself.
- Achilles! End this! And be victorious if you can!
But on the other hand, Geir couldn't help but feel sadness in whispers.
- No, Achilles. Give up at once...
- Everyone is happy, "God"! - Huitzi spoke to him with outstretched arms - This must conclude in the best possible way! Don't you think?
- So it seems...
- Very well! Then I have a request for you.
Huitzi crouched on the ground toward the item happened to be there: Achilles' last sword, still unharmed despite recent destruction.
- Huitzi found the last sword of Achilles!
The God of war took the weapon from the handle, and threw it to Achilles, who caught it with one hand. Then the Mexica released his request.
- Give me your best blow Achilles!
Achilles surprised to hear his name from Huitzi; it only made a flaming pride grow in his heart set his body ablaze in his anger.
« Come on Achilles... I'm already near the end... My goal isn't over until humanity is saved! This dream doesn't end! »
- Give me everything all you have, hero Achilles! I hope you don't disappoint me!
The God took Xiau with both arms and began to wave him about in the air, to create the same tornado of fire as before, although it seemed to be bigger than the previous one.
Quickly the tornado caught fire and began to fill the environment with smoke, which blinded the eyes and quickly filled the noses of those present.
- Achilles! - Patroclus wanted to speak to him but the smoke didn't even let breathe.
- Son! - Coa, despite the burning from the smoke, did speak Mexica - Win my son!
Achilles took a deep breath despite the smoke; his entire body tensed as anger filled his body again. But there was no time to lose.
Took the sword from the opposite end and pointed the blade at Huitzi at once, while the heat and fire of the tornado concentrated on the snake.
Achilles concentrated his power into his right arm, which began to change color just like the sword.
Then, the half-god exhaled forcefully and, despite his shattered leg, began to run towards the god with the sword on which a flame arose from the heat of his body.
The God, seeing him, immediately stopped the snake to hold it on his back, while the fire concentrated on Xiau to light him up like a torch.
However, the smoke was still present in the arena so that no spectator could see what was going to happen. The only ones who knew what was going on were the fighters under all cloud of smoke.
« This will decide it, this will be the end of this fight! I will win! For the humans, for my dream, for Geir and her sisters, I must win! » Achilles kept running with all his might.
« You're amazing Achilles! I wish we had met in another time and place!... Like the hero of Greece... I'll give you a worthy ending! » Huitzi smiled illuminated by the fire of Xiau.
As soon as they were 4 feet away, both released their attacks:
Achilles mustered all of his strength into his arm to throw the tip of the flaming sword from above downwards, moreover now the weapon was red-hot with a small white-hot flame.
Huitzi began Xiau's descent from his back to strike like a hammer, as the snake opened its flame-engulfed mouth to once again ensnare the half-god in jaws.
- King's Javelin!
- Fire Eater!
They both launched their attacks; their gazes met at the moment of shock. A divine glow cleared the smoke and a white-hot blast ignited over the Elysium Fields stadium.
Geir tried to watch in the scene, but combination of heat and light didn't allow her eye to weigh for long. That moment couldn't help but invade her mind with the memory of 1000 years ago.
- ¡No Achilles! - covered her mouth with hands bathed in tears - ¡Not again... Not you!
Athena didn't look away, even when her brother was trying to pull her away from the box.
- You'll go blind!
- I need to know my Achilles is still alive!
That light and the burning wave of heat severely hit the spectators, turning the arena into a small barbecue, in addition to which flew through the air until crossed the clouds were in the place. A strangely beautiful sight.
At the end of an instant seemed eternal, the light and heat disappeared, leaving only a white-hot cloud of smoke gradually diminished. And with that, viewers were able to open their eyes to see the consequences of that attack.
- We can't see anything! - Heimdall tried to dissipate the smoke in front of him, but there was so much more the excess heat suffocated him - The smoke and heat make it difficult to see anything in this arena!
Little by little the smoke was revealing the stage in the arena. The first thing emerged were the silhouettes of the fighters, which excited the spectators.
- Achilles! Bro!
- Huitzi!
But, as the smoke moved away from the arena, they also realized the final state of both fighters caused them a great scare.
Achilles stood, his body tilted to the right by his King's Javelin, but the half-god wasn't complete.
That whole right side of him was burned and melted; his face suffered those same consequences, plus a half-blindness.
His right arm was gone; only shoulder was left pointing forward, cut and with part of the meat charred. And from his shoulders to waist were a pair of long, deep gashes half cauterized with the sweltering heat.
The tourniquet on his stomach was non-existent; despite the heat, that wound was still more than fresh, and in fact, due to the vertical cuts it was now in a worse state and with blood spurting out.
The Greek Achilles didn't even seem to be breathing; he just stood there in that fatal way.
- Achilles have a lot of damage to his body! So much so he barely seems to be standing!
- Achilles! - Patroclus and the boys shouted with great anguish. Of all the only one who cried was his best friend.
However, Huitzi hadn't been spared from harm either.
Half leaning forward from his attack, the God also had many wounds, some somewhat different from his rival.
Had a large cut on his face that, like Achilles, left him half blind, though to a much lesser degree.
His arms bowed from his blow, but left one was severed at the elbow by Achilles' sword and already cauterized by the heat; while the right one had only a few burns.
On his previous wounds, a third cut from the height of the neck to the waist on the left side; unlike the others already cauterized, this one was fresh.
And finally, what happened to Xiau: Achilles's sword, still emitting heat, was stuck in the snake causing great pain.
- Son! - Coa cried just by seeing his deplorable state, while Cuahui was silent.
Geir looked bitterly, and covered her face as remembered one of saddest moments: Lu Bu Housen without legs or arms riding Red Hare in front of Thor, while the dead body of her sister Rangdriz fell to the ground.
- That's very... shocking! They both launched their most powerful attacks and ended up very badly injured! No arm, cuts on the body, and an exaggeratedly hot environment like we hadn't seen!
- What is he saying? - Durga claimed with great anger from his place - My husband did it to the sumo wrestler a millennium ago! He killed it with his fire dance!
Shiva just fell silent; for that moment only cared about the end of the fight. But then the whispers began, in tiers of humans and Gods, for the same reason.
Who is the winner of the first round?
That murmurs heated up in discussions, being ignorant of the 2 dying men in the arena.
Up to this point Athena had simply been silent; she couldn't even foresee her disciple would end up like that. Zeus, Hermes and Ares, more than because of the fight, were worried about the possible next reaction of the Goddess.
Before anyone could do anything else, the snake, writhing in pain and anger, rose from the ground and with a euphoric bite ripped the sword from her body. And without waiting she lunged to bite the half-god.
The viewers barely noticed the situation, but it was already impossible for them to act on it.
- Quiet.
That firm and soft command stopped the snake in its tracks, who turned on itself to look at its owner.
The God, rather slowly, lifted his half-burned and cut face, to look at both the animal and the half-god.
- That Greek is mine...
- Attention! Huitzi, the mexica God of War, is still alive despite his injuries!
Coa and Cuahui smiled together and hugged each other excitedly.
A little air blew out of the Greek half-god's nose, then raised his face and, with great difficulty, spoke in a somewhat low voice.
- Hello... blessed God of war...
- Achilles is also alive!
Patroclus and the boys shared a jump of excitement. Similarly, the trojan Hector, despite his appearance, also jumped for joy.
While the spectators were agitated in the stands, on the contrary, silence reigned over the fighters, as if they had a bubble. Both fighters, Huitzi and Aquiles exchanged glances at each other; and both transmitted the same feeling: pride and satisfaction.
- So... you survived... Achilles?...
- Yes... or so I would say. - Achilles smiled despite the great pain in his body. - This is the first time I have... such a long fight with a great rival and... so much fun.
- Me too! You're the first who has fought against me... and has lived to tell the story... until now...
Then both fighters changed their expressions to seriousness.
- I think you know what's next, Achilles. Or one gives up...
- Or one dies.
- Only one will have the victory.
Both were silent for a few moments as eternal. The first to act was Achilles himself, lifting his remaining left arm with great effort.
- What do you think if... we do it again?
- Huh? What thing?
- Fight with our fists... until the end. - Achilles smiled under breath - Focus on our blows against each other until neither of us can... It would be a worthy way for you and me to end this...
The God took a deep breath, to then release his typical bloody smile, but...
- Of course Achilles! It'll be an honor to hit you again!
Now it was a smile of friendship. Achilles responded with the same smile.
- It's also a pleasure and honor for me... Here I go!
With the little strength the half-god had left, clenched his left fist released a last weak flame, and with a poorly done jump threw himself towards Huitzi, who for his part raised his right fist to counterattack.
- What's this!? Despite his terrible injuries, Achilles and Huitzi want to have one last encounter with their fists!
Patroclus and his friends were greatly surprised; In addition, they also felt terror.
- Achilles! What are you doing!?
- A-Achilles! No! Don't do it! - The little Valkyrie also felt the same fear as the boys, leaning on the railing of her place.
Yet, immersed in pain and satisfaction, Achilles listened to no one but own mental voice.
« This I feel in me... This is... Something I thought had already forgotten. Something I thought lost when took the ambrosia... This joy and this... This satisfaction... It means I made it... I made it guys! »
For the first time in combat, his face was filled with tears of happiness ran down his burned cheeks.
« My dream... to be the soldier who will fight for Thessaly and now for all humanity... It has come to an end today... Thank you very much for trusting me, guys... humans... Geir...! It's time... my last efforts are consumed... to finish my task... my best dream... »
Achilles quickly approached Huitzi, pointing his clenched fist at the face of the God of War; he, with his bloody smile, eagerly awaited the blow.
The fist could have followed his course and hit the God, so would respond in the same way and both, with the last of his strength, would submerge in an infinite dance... But, it wasn't like that.
Moments before the blow, an event occurred no one could have foreseen: the snake got in his way, jumping at the last moment.
Despite the pain from the sword cut, Xiau with a truly angry face jumped straight at Achilles' face and opened jaws as wide as could, so the combination of impulses between the two of them submerged the half-god's head and neck inside the mouth of the reptile.
Not even Achilles himself had time to process when Xiau closed his snout and lopped off the Greek's head with a violent and horribly bloody bite.
By inertia, Achilles' slain body fell to Huitzi's feet while the snake, by inertia, reached the other side of the corpse. With head in his jaws, without hesitation the snake removed it and began to chew in ferocious gulps sent the Greek's flesh and blood flying between its teeth, showing with each bite his great courage; On the other hand, the corpse with its throat cut began to send all of its blood in violent jets, which stained Huitzi's body from the feet to his own face.
And even though he was a God, was also unable to fully perceive what happened.
Silence fell on both sides of the stadium, save for the carnivorous sounds Xiau emanated from the flesh and bones of the half-god's head, and blood shooting from his body.
The first to sound their sudden surprise were Patroclus and Geir, who cried out almost in unison with the same bitter and heartbreaking feeling.
- ACHILLES!! NOOOOOO!!
Little by little, the sobs and bitter cries became present in the stands of the humans, seeing just like the flying general Lu Bu Housen, their first fighter fell dead in a grotesque manner in that arena of death.
The Gods were mostly just silent trying to process the sadistic spectacle they witnessed; The only ones who resounded their spirits and shouts of celebration were Gods from Aztlan Kingdom.
- That's how it's done! That's a big landslide victory!
- Huitzi! The Southern Hummingbird will never be defeated!
- Brother! You managed to win! - Cuahui jumped with emotion with teary eyes.
Coa put a hand to her chest in fully restored hope. Raised her teary eyes to the sand and let out a laugh between his sobs.
- Son... Xiau... You got it! I'm so happy!
- This... - Heimdall blinked a couple of times, trying to process what happened - X-Xiau finishes the half-god... with a single bite... And with this aggressive ending... the first fight of the second Ragnarok is... over!
Huitzi was able to finish processing everything happened, still shocked, moving his hand over face to wipe away Achilles' blood. Then walked over to the snake, who was licking the blood from his teeth in annoyance; that feeling was shared by the God, which was expressed in his voice.
- I had it under control, you bloody snake.
Xiau gave him an annoyed growl without looking at him; inside the god wanted very much to crush it, but instead turned the half-god's slit body.
- Fight with our fists until the end - gave a laugh to himself - Too bad. That will no longer be possible...
Xiau was surprised when saw the Blood Demon with a serene and peaceful expression. The God looked up at the sky and heaved a sigh.
- Goodbye Achilles. My best and only worthy rival...
- The first victory belongs to the Gods, with Huitzilopochtli as the winner! The first battle of Ragnarok is over!
