Alexander White has studied his entire young life to be given a spot on the crew of the Starship Enterprise. When finally offered the opportunity, he takes it and runs with it, leaving his past on Earth behind.

When he meets Wesley Crusher, he is less than impressed - not understanding how he could have possibly earned his role as acting ensign. Wesley in smart, but he's also pretentious, and Alexander can't stand him.

Alexander doesn't, however, expect Wesley to take a sudden liking to him. Wesley craves Alexander's attention, and he doesn't know what to do with himself, or why he feels like that.

But what Wesley does know, is that he's head over heels in love with the other boy, and no matter how much Alexander tells him to shut up, he's still going to be.
