With that said, Team 7, and Tazuna continue their journey to the Land of Waves. And, after a short boat ride, all five of them are in the Land of Waves.

As the journey went on, Naruto threw a kunai into a bush, scaring a snow rabbit. Which is weirding out Kakashi, as he thinks, "That rabbit shouldn't have white fur this time of year, it's fur should be brown... Wait, what is that ringing?" Kakashi then yells, "DUCK!"

As his Genin flung themselves to the ground, Kakashi grabbed Tazuna, and did the same thing. A giant-ass sword then flies over their heads, and gets lodged into a tree. A tall man, appears, standing on the blade, backwards. He then looks back at the Konoha Shinobi. The man asks, "Sharingan no Kakashi, who knew you'd be babysitting some pathetic Genin?"
Kakashi says, "Zabuza Momochi, Kirigakure no Kijin (Demon of the Mist)."

Zabuza Momochi, given the name of Kirigakure no Kijin (Demon of the Hidden Mist). He was a former member of the Seven Ninja Swordsman of the Mist, and a former ANBU-captain. Now he is a missing-nin, after trying to assassinate the Yondaime Mizukage Yagura.

Zabuza is aggressive, arrogant, cruel, cold and ambitious, willing to become Gatō's thug to gain enough funds to start a second coup d'etat on the Mizukage, and kill anyone who stood in his path, including plotting to kill Gatō once he had received enough funds from him. His reputation for cruelty and ruthlessness began as a child where he killed every single candidate in Kirigakure's Academy, earning him the moniker of "Demon of the Hidden Mist" (霧隠れの鬼人).

He willingly uses his own men and others as pawns to fulfil his ambitions, as he raised Haku to be an efficient tool to be discarded when he had no use to exploit; although unlike future antagonists, he was blunt about the purpose that his recruits were needed for, forgoing any form of manipulation by pretending to be benevolent to inspire loyalty. This corresponds with his cynical view of the world, which only consists of the used and the users, as well as viewing shinobi to be nothing more than tools. Despite himself, Zabuza grew to care deeply for Haku and viewed him to be far more than a tool.

He is an observant adversary who is able to analyse his opponent's techniques after seeing it once, but becomes overconfident if he sees the technique as useless. Despite his ruthlessness, Zabuza was possessed of a softer side that he himself was largely unaware of.

Zabuza was a tall and noticeably muscular man with light grayish skin, short spiky black hair, dark brown eyes, and small eyebrows. He was normally seen wearing bandages like a mask over the bottom half of his face. Under his mask, he had a relatively narrow jawline and jagged-teeth, a trait he shared with his fellow Swordsmen. He wore his hitai-ate sideways on his head.

He is seen shirtless, with his chest only covered by a belt to which he attached his Kubikiribōchō, the giant-ass sword. Zabuza is also seen wearing baggy pants with the striped pattern typical of Kirigakure and mimetic wrist-warmers extending up to his elbows, with matching leg-warmers.

Zabuza chuckled, as he says, "You know of me? I'm honored."

Kakashi then asks, "Why are you here?"

Zabuza answers, "Give me the old man. You, and your Genin can live. What's it going to be?"

Kakashi answers, "That's funny, as we are here to protect Tazuna, so... We will stay."

The Hatake then pulls his hitai-ate from over left eye, revealing his Sharingan. Zabuza then says, "The Sharingan? Never thought I'd see it so soon, but it has weaknesses like... Kirigakure no Jutsu (Hiding in Mist Technique)!" Blinding mist then covers the area.

Zabuza hiding then the mist, then goes to attack Tazuna, but Naruto blocks the strike with his tanto, and Sharingan out. Momochi then says, "Two Sharingan? Boy, am I lucky!"

Kakashi then sends out a chakra pulse, as Sakura asks, "What's a Sharingan?"

Sasuke answers, "The Sharingan is the Dōjutsu Kekkei Genkai of the Uchiha clan, my clan that appears selectively among its members."

Sakura then asks, "Then how does Kakashi-sensei, and Naruto-kun have the Sharingan?"

Sasuke answers, "They were given to them by someone else, and then implanted into their eye-sockets."

Naruto then activates his Mangekyo Sharingan, and says, "Kotoamatsukami! Zabuza, you are a former Konoha Shinobi, who has memory loss, and was brainwashed into becoming a shinobi in Kirigakure. You now remember your time as Konoha Shinobi. Zabuza as a Konoha Shinobi, you must help you comrades, and come back to Konoha. You are also a firm believer in the Will of Fire." The Uzumaki's Mangekyo revert to the three-tomoe Sharingan, as Naruto is unable to use it for the rest of the day.

Zabuza then says, "Haku, come out! We are helping my fellow Konoha Shinobi!"

Kakashi then covers his Sharingan, and asks, "Naruto, what was that jutsu?"

Naruto answers, "I'll tell you when this Haku person is not in ear-shot of us."

Haku then appears. He is a good-hearted, compliant, and eager shinobi, believing that a person becomes truly strong when they have someone important to protect. Despite his talent for battle, and incredible abilities, Haku disliked needing to kill others in his role as a tool, and avoided doing so whenever possible. When forced to face an opponent, Haku did all that he could to avoid inflicting great harm, even putting them into a death-like state to prevent them from fighting further.

Haku wears the standard Kirigakure pinstriped outfit which stopped at his knees. Over this he wore a green haori with white trimmings, and around his waist a brown sash with a fringed trail wrapped around his waist twice. He also wore light-brown platoon sandals with straps in the same colour as his kimono and nail polish on his fingernails and toenails in matching blue green colour. When wearing this outfit, Haku's long hair was gathered in a white bun holder, while two locks of his hair fell loose framing his face, bound with metal hair cuffs at the ends. Haku also wore a black forehead protector with the Kirigakure's symbol upon it. He also wears a hunter-nin mask on top of his forehead protector, which was white with thin, curved eye-holes and a red wavy design in place of the mouth, as well as the Kirigakure symbol etched in the top.

Haku throws of her mask, and rushes towards Naruto, with a senbon needle. When he gets close, Naruto Shunshins behind him. Naruto then kicks Haku in the back. This is when Zabuza yells, "Haku! You are my apprentice, and will do what I say. So, Haku stand down this instant, or else!"

Haku turns to face Zabuza, and asks, "Zabuza-sama, what about your goal to overthrow the Mizukage? Don't you want to protect the villagers of Kiri from the horrors of the Mizukage?"

Zabuza answers, "Of course I want to help Kiri, but I, and you don't have the money to do so, nor do we have the people to help us. Plus I just remembered that I am a shinobi of Konoha, and I must do my duty as one."

Haku replies, "Of course Zabuza-sama."

Zabuza then asks, "So Kakashi, what do you need us to do?"

Kakashi answers, "You can continue to protect Tazuna... Tazuna, do you have a place where we can stay?"

Tazuna nods, as he answers, "My house is just a couple hours away from here, you can stay there."

Kakashi says, "Good! Zabuza, follow Tazuna to his home. I have to have a talk with my student here. We'll catch up in no time, I promise."

Zabuza says, "Haku, Genin come, and follow to Tazuna's place!"

The rest of Team 7, and Haku do just that. When Kakashi feels like they are a good distance away, he asks, "What was that jutsu you used?"

Naruto answers, "It's called the Kotoamatsukami. The Kotoamatsukami is a dōjutsu that casts a powerful yet subtle mind-controlling genjutsu on the target. Which in this case was Zabuza. The technique allows the user to enter the mind of any individual within their field of view, and manipulate them by giving them false experiences, making it seem as if they were doing things of their own free will. It is regarded as a genjutsu of the highest calibre, due to the victim being entirely unaware that they are being manipulated. It was noted as Shisui Uchiha's ultimate technique."

Kakashi says, "I'm guessing it not a standard Genjutsu of the Sharingan, huh?"

Naruto replies, "You're right, it's not. It's a jutsu that only Shisui can use, because he awakened the Mangekyo Sharingan."

Kakashi asks, "Mangekyo Sharingan?"

Naruto answers, "The Mangekyo Sharingan is an advanced form of the Sharingan that has only been activated by a handful of Uchiha. They are noted to be the "heavenly eyes that see the truth of all of creation without obstruction". A Mangekyo Sharingan is distinguished from a normal Sharingan by its appearance, which changes the form of the tomoe seal. While the exact design differs for each user, though all resemble pinwheels. It is initially awakened by the trauma suffered from witnessing the death of someone close to the user. The Mangekyō Sharingan retains all of the Sharingan's generic abilities. In addition to that, the Mangekyo grants powerful abilities that differ between each eye, though abilities may be similar in nature. Shisui could use Kotoamatsukami in both eyes. Then there's the Susanoo, which is a gigantic, humanoid avatar made of the user's chakra which surrounds them and fights on their behalf. It is the strongest ability available to those who have awakened the Mangekyo Sharingan in both eyes. Over use of the Mangekyo can lead to blindness. All though, the healing factor that the Kyuubi grants, helps me with the blindness."

Kakashi then asks, "Do you think I have the Mangekyo Sharingan?"

Naruto asks, "Did you witness the death of a close friend or family member after you got the Sharingan?"

Kakashi answers, "A friend, well, my only living teammate at the time, ran into one of my jutsu, and died."

Naruto says, "Uncover your eye, and channel more chakra into your Sharingan."

Kakashi does just that, and his Sharingan begins to spin, and change. It's design gives the appearance of three triangles wrapping around the pupil, similar to a pinwheel. Naruto then says, "Congratulations you have the Mangekyo Sharingan, Kakashi-sensei, but you deactivate it, so you can conserve chakra!"

Kakashi replies, "I can always train it when we get back. So let's go meet up with the rest of Team 7, along with Zabuza, and Haku."

Naruto then yells, "Wait a second, I have to send a message to Jiji. So when we all go back to Konoha, Zabuza, and Haku can have Konoha hitai-ate."

Naruto then writes a quick message in a scroll, and does a series of hand seals. Boar → Dog → Bird → Monkey → Ram. The blonde then bites his thumb, and smears the blood on the opposite palm. He then smacks the bloody palm against the ground, and yells, "Kuchiyose no Jutsu (Summoning Technique)!" In a small puff of smoke, a regular sized crow appears.

Naruto says, "Hello Karasumaru, how are you?"

The pitch black crow says, "Hello Naruto-sama. I am good. It's just that I wish I was summoned more, ya know?"

Naruto replies, "I know, Karasumaru. Anyway, I have a message for the Hokage. Could you deliver that message?"

Karasumaru answers, "Of course I can Naruto-sama!"

Naruto then hands the crow the scroll, and says, "Thank you Karasumaru." He then watches the crow fly away into the distance.

The Uzumaki then says, "Now we can go, and meet up with the rest of Team 7." Which is exactly what they do.
