Episode 29

Right after the World Championships Shu had always refused to talk about the Snake Pit, especially in front of Valt.

But even through Valt's imagination he never imagined he would see so many kids break, cry, or feel lonely. Solitude, fear and sadness haunted the Snake Pit like a disease. Sometimes it was just too much for them. They broke like a stick bent too far. Snapped in anger.

But that wasn't how Theodore saw it, he always saw it as potential for them to get stronger. Anger meant strength, power and most importantly drive. Anger is what helped him survive jail. And now he was determined to share his discoveries with the world.

But before he could do that, it was time to sharpen the weapons and skills before the battle.

Which included Brown Eye, Theodore knew getting rid of Valtryek would be a mistake. Valtryek was powerful and giving Brown Eye a new bey would be illogical if not unreasonable considering he used that bey to become the best.

Which was why he was going to help Brown Eye get stronger but in an unorthodox way.

"How's it feel?" Theodore asked. He laid his hand on Brown Eyes' shoulder, a gesture meant to reassure him.

But Brown Eye didn't notice and instead stared down at the new reincarnation of Valtryek.

"It feels different,"

Looking down Valtryek was a darker shade of blue with hints of black and purple. But the three blades still stuck out and he had kept most of the same patterns.

"Nothing you can't handle, right?" Theodore asked.

Brown Eye only nodded his head not saying another word.

Picking up the new version of Valtryek a deep part of him tried to resist the urge but in the end the power was too much.

Laying his fingers on the new bey, he could feel the new power rippling and consuming him.

Brown Eye grinned slightly.

"Venge Valtryek."

"Interesting, like Revenge?" Theodore asked in fascination.

Brown Eye didn't answer and instead went over to the stadium Theodore had already set up for him.

On the other side of the stadium a dozen robots stood holding out launchers of various different colored beys.

Above, what sounded like the AC kicked in making noise but it was actually the opposite.

"Unlike the others, this Snake Pit has a complex ventilation system incorporated into each training room stimulating the conditions of an elevated environment. This allows bladers to produce more red blood cells and increase endurance in these conditions. By getting used to the lack of oxygen bladers work even harder."

Brown Eye looked back down at the stadium not saying a word. Readying his launcher Theodore watched in the background.

Brown Eye seemed to be struggling to catch his breath but Theodore knew he was trying to hide it.

Holding out his launcher a dark blue resonance began to build up around him and the new version of Valtryek could barely be seen.

Theodore leaned forward in interest, for Brown Eye this was just a mere warm-up for him to test out his bey.

"3...2...1...Let it Rip!"

Valtryek was sent flying into the center of the stadium colliding with the rest of the beys. For a second they stayed that way until Valtryek started glowing dark blue along with Brown Eye.

The wind picked up making Theodore's hair look unkempt and wild. But his eyes were glued to the battle as all the robots beys were sent flying into the air bursting one by one.

Brown Eye caught his bey and walked away as the pieces fell onto the ground.

"I need more." he said, breathing heavily struggling against the air quantity.

"Follow me." Theodore said smiling.

With Brown Eye following from behind Theodore led him away from the other bladers, outside and away from the bunker.

The sun's rays beat down on Brown Eye as Theodore led him into the forest. Huge rock formations were in the center towering over the trees. Pieces of rock lay discarded below while some formations were still standing strong with dents in them.

"Our abilities all have to do with resonance. The power contained within our beys. The truth is, their power is limitless and some beys can even control or conquer the very elements around us, bending the world to our will. But not every blader has this power and not every blader needs to rely on this power either."

"So then, prove to me you don't need to rely on Phi's power, prove to me you are already powerful without his power."

"Yes, my master."

Standing across from the rock Brown Eye lowered his head summoning his dark blue power. Theodore smiled slightly.

He's getting better at that Theodore thought.

"Let it Rip."

Valtryek soared through the air straight into the rock. Colliding with it cracks began to form glowing blue before the rock crumbled into pieces.

"Not bad but let me teach you another way."

Catching Valtryek, Brown Eye turned to Theodore.

"Now then, fighting is physics but most people don't know the key to fighting is patience. Most bladers waste their energy trying to cause lots of damage through multiple attacks. When really, all it takes is for one attack. Think about all the battles you've had. Sometimes those battles ended just with a single powerful strike. But it's not about strength, size, or even speed. It's all about channeling all that energy or power into the desired spot and committing to it."

Holding out his launcher Theodore faintly summoned his power. The god- like entity could barely be seen behind him.

But Brown Eye saw exactly what Theodore was talking about.

As soon as he launched Amaterios into the rock, it smashed to pieces in an instant.

Catching Amaterios one of its blades was glowing but slowly dimmed.

"By focusing all my power into a single target I was easily able to destroy the rock easily. Now you show me what you've learned."

Brown Eye took Theodore's place and held out his launcher. Valtryek started glowing, encasing him in his dark resonance.

Theodore watched from the sidelines with his arms folded.

"Let it Rip!"

As Valtryek went flying through the air one of its blades lit up.

"Dark Move, Venging Strike Launch."

Clashing with the rock it disintegrated into a million pieces.

"Very good Brown Eye,"

Turning back to the boulder Brown Eye held out his launcher again.

Theodore smiled at the sight of Brown Eye's power resonating around him.

"Let it Rip."

But at the last second Brown Eye had changed his stance causing Valtryek to go a different trajectory. Valtryek glowed a dark blue along with Brown Eye calling out his dark move again.

Valtryek arched through the air racing through the rock but it didn't stop there. After the rock crumbled to pieces Valtryek pinballed around to the other rocks destroying them each with a single hit.

Catching Valtryek, the rocks crumbled creating a dust cloud around Brown Eye.

Looking down at Valtryek, Brown Eye grinned evilly.

Stepping through the cloud Theodore emerged with a serious expression.

"That's enough, Brown Eye."

Turning back to Theodore, Brown Eyes dark power could barely be seen around him. A shadow had fallen over his face and Valtryek could barely be seen behind him. Tilting his head like Free, Brown Eye looked dead on at Theodore.

And for once Theodore actually looked uncertain or maybe even afraid. Theodore had delt with many bladers over the years but he had never delt with someone like Valt before. Mastering a move like that in one try?

"It'll never be enough." Brown Eye said. Turning back to the rocks he launched again creating more destruction.
