Part Six ~ Let's Take It Back To The Start -

One Week Later:

Ellie's POV -

"Babe, you can't hide here forever." James said to me, as he walked into the bedroom and pulled the covers off me.

See, since Nathan had found out about Aimee being his, I had avoided going to work; just phoning in sick and making up excuses about why I'm unable to come in - my boss is so stupid that he always believes me and doesn't even bother to question me about it, so I'm not going to complain.

"I'm not going to hide forever. Just until the end of next week when Nathan isn't here anymore." I argued back, snatching the duvet out of his hands and pulling it back over my head.

"He has a right to see his daughter, and you know that he does. Are you really going to stop him from seeing her?" James snapped angrily in my direction.

"I don't need her being confused, and I'm not going to explain this to her. Everything is perfect the way that it is and I don't need that to change." I sighed.

"Too bad, everything has to change for a reason, and it's time that you accepted that. Nathan is Aimee's father and he has a right to see her, which is why-"

"What have you done James?" I shouted, sitting up in bed quicker than I had done all week, suddenly nervous about what he was going to tell me he had done.

Don't get me wrong, I loved James and he was my everything; but there were times when I wished he would just keep his nose out because he got me into a lot of trouble with a lot of people.

Such as the time he let slip to my parents that Aimee wasn't his daughter and I was refusing to tell the real father that he had a daughter - that was one hell of a dinner, and my mother refused to talk to me for three months after that happened.

He just needed to let me get on with my life and do things my way.

I'm not saying they're always the right way to do things, but it was my way and I liked it my way because I had a plan and I knew what I was doing.

"I've invited Nathan round so that the two of you can talk to each other. I'm taking Aimee out, so there's going to be nothing here to distract you and you're going to have no other choice but to explain yourself to him." James replied.

"Let me guess, you're going to see Tom, aren't you?" I questioned sarcastically. It was great that James was making friends with people, especially since he hardly ever went out because he wanted to make sure Aimee was properly looked after, but he could have gone out with anyone other than Tom Bloody Parker.

The band mate and best friend of my ex-boyfriend.

The one who happened to dislike me and wanted me to let Nathan into Aimee's life without anymore arguments.

The one that was just as bad as James when it came to telling other people my business without even caring what I was doing.

"Is that a problem?"

"No. Just have fun and, when you come back, I won't have spoken to Nathan." I replied as I got myself out of bed and rummaged through my wardrobe for something to wear.

"You better had do because I've told him to come back for the entire time that he's here until you talk to him." James laughed before he walked out of the room with a smirk on his face, knowing that I would talk to him because I didn't want to spend anymore time in the company of Nathan than I needed to.

This was going to be one hell of day, and it wasn't going to have a happy ending either.

*

I was sat on the sofa, flicking through the TV when there was a knock at the door and I knew exactly who it was and why they were here - James made sure he told me everything we were to talk about before Nathan left here, and he was going to check with Nathan to make sure I covered everything as well.

I pushed myself up from the sofa, dragging my feet as I walked over to the door and opened it slower than was required because I was simply trying to delay the process for even longer.

"I guess you know why I'm here then?" was the first thing that Nathan said to me as soon as he saw my face appear in the gap I had created.

"Hello to you as well." I stated without much expression in my tone.

"Look, I want to be here even less than you do, but I've been left with no other choice since your boyfriend decided we needed to talk." Nathan snapped.

"Wow. I never knew that you forgot how to be polite to someone."

"Kind of like you forget how to tell the truth then."

"Okay then." I replied, and I wasn't sure how I was supposed to reply to something to like that because I suppose it was the least I could expect after everything that had happened between the two of us; he had the right to be pissed off with me and not really want to speak to me.

I stepped aside and pointed him in the direction of the living room, indicating that he was allowed to sit down and I wasn't going to walk out the room if he took a seat wherever he felt like sitting.

"Where do you want to start then?" I asked.

"How about we take it back to the start, and you tell me where it all went wrong for us." Nathan replied, averting his gaze to the floor and avoiding all contact with me now.
