Part Eight ~ Jealousy Is A Bitch -

Nathan's POV -

"How did it go then?" Tom asked as soon as I stepped foot into the hotel; turns out he was waiting for Kelsey to finish getting ready so they could go out for dinner with each other.

"You know, nothing interesting really." I shrugged, attempting to hide the grin which was beginning to appear on my face.

"Don't lie to me Sykes. What happened?" Tom pushed me.

"Nothing. We just talked, and I'm meeting her tomorrow." I replied.

"Have you got a date with her?" Tom asked smugly because he had always known how I felt about her and he was the only one who knew that, given the chance, I would go straight back to her and be happy with her; even though it would mean hurting Jade and that's something I never wanted to do as she hadn't done anything to deserve that kind of treatment from me.

"It's not a date. We're just going out so she can tell me about Aimee and we can catch up with each other."

"You keep telling yourself that mate. This is a date and you're going to be coming back here with an even bigger smile than you're trying to hide today." Tom laughed and I just walked off, deciding that I was going to ignore him and I wasn't going to bother giving him the satisfaction of a reply anymore.

It wasn't a date and I wasn't going to tell myself that's what it was either, because I would only find myself disappointed when it didn't go the way I planned it all out in my head; it was just a catch-up with each other and she was going to tell me about my daughter.

There was nothing more to it other than that and I don't where Tom had got that idea from either, so he can get it out of his head again or I might have to hit him if he carries on making comment towards me, or about what's happening with Ellie.

I walked into the room to see Jade sitting on the bed, typing away on her phone with a grin on her face; she only looked at me when I sat down on the edge of the bed and caused her to jump slightly and push her phone into her pocket, which I thought was a bit strange, but I wasn't going to mention anything about it - I was in too much of a good mood to really give a damn right now, so I wasn't going to let her ruin that.

"You have a good day then?" Jade smiled at me as she moved herself next to me and placed her head on my shoulder with a smile on her phone.

"Yeah, it was pretty good. And you?" I replied with the same smile.

"It's better now you're here with me." Jade giggled before she gave me a quick kiss on the cheek.

"You're seriously cheesy, do you know that?" I chuckled back at her.

She had always been that way and that's one of the things I did actually love about her, and also the fact she reminded me of Ellie is more than one way and I didn't want to let her go when I didn't know where Ellie was.

Now I've found her though, I don't intend on letting her go again and I also don't intend on letting Aimee go without meeting her at least once before I have to leave; this was the life I had always dreamed of and I didn't want to lose it just as I had found it.

"But you love that, right?" she grinned.

"Of course I love that. Do you want to go out tonight, just you and me?" I asked her, the image of her grinning at her phone and then throwing it away as quickly as she did still in my mind.

"Erm, I was thinking we could just spend the night here. I'm not really in the mood to go out."

"If you're sure, I was hoping to spend some time away from this place though." I sighed, throwing myself back onto the bed and looking up at the ceiling; all the memories I had shared with Ellie before it all went wrong came rushing back to me in that moment and I'm not even sure why it happened.

But there was one in particular which made me smile.

Before me and Ellie actually told people we were together, we used to have to sneak around with each other a lot to make sure no one caught us. One thing that we used to do was book hotel rooms in ridiculous names and meet each other there, but we only happened to get caught when Ellie's parents were staying in exactly the same hotel as us one night - that was a rather amusing night, trying to explain to them why she had been hiding me and hadn't told them of my existence.

"I'm sorry Nath. Maybe tomorrow night instead?" Jade suggested.

"I wish I could, but I've already made plans."

"With who? Who could you possibly want to go out with that isn't me?" Jade snapped at me as if she was jealous of the fact I was going out with someone who wasn't her and I was going to be spending time with them.

I don't know what gave her the nerve to be jealous of me though, it's not like I get jealous of her when I see other men flirting with her and touching her all over the place; and she doesn't even bother to stop them.

"I'm going out with Tom. OK?" I shouted back at her.

"Oh. Right. Sorry." she whispered feeling bad that she had automatically assumed it was some other woman.

Well, it was another woman, but I'm sure Tom wouldn't mind covering for me and making her believe that I spent the entire night with him and no one else.

Jade would only end up getting jealous, and she would probably slap Ellie the next time we went into the pub where she worked and that wouldn't be good for either of us - Ellie would probably just take off again and, this time, she would make sure I didn't find her or Aimee, and I would never be able to forgive Jade for being the reason that happened.

"It's fine babe, nothing to be sorry for." I smiled at her as I sat up and saw her tapping away on her phone again with the same grin on her face as she had before. "Who you texting then?"

"Oh, erm, no one you'd know. Just, oh, erm, you know, erm, an old friend." she stumbled over her words, and it was so obvious to tell that she was lying to me.

"Okay then. I'm just going down to the restaurant. You coming?" I asked her, hoping she would say no because, what I actually wanted to do was text Tom and get Ellie's number off him so I could find out if she was free to meet up tonight as well.

If Jade was having some fun, then I was allowed to do that same and there was nothing she could say about it.

"Nah. You go ahead though, I don't mind." she smiled at me, throwing herself onto the sofa at the same time and flicking through the TV; I mentally did a victory dance to celebrate the fact she wasn't coming with me and gave myself a round of applause for being so clever with my lie.

Life is a game made for everyone and love is the prize, so I guess it's time for me to get my prize back in my life and make sure nothing takes her away from me again.

Jade is to the side; random picture which I decided she is going to look like>>
