To calm down a bit before the next episode of Dynamite, a group of AEW talents decided to go to the beach and have some fun there. Among that group were Y/N, Jamie and Toni who were already having a pretty good time during the drive. Y/N was glad to see Jamie laughing again after her silence a few days ago, eventhough it still was on his mind. They were best friends after all and could talk about everything actually, so her not opening up was quite weird in his opinion. But he didn't press it any further and would just make sure she enjoyed herself. Toni noticed the back and forth too and hoped that maybe she could get Jamie to talk at one point during the stay at the beach. She knew her for a little while as well and always had an open ear for her, so only time would tell what might come up.

Upon reaching the beach, everyone got their stuff and found a good spot for the group as Toni and Jamie put their towels down and decided to tan a little. Surprisingly enough, Jamie was already in a red bikini.

Toni:" Alright, the guys are in the water and we can talk. Sooo what's up with you lately?"

Jamie:" What do you mean?"

Toni:" You've been less vocal towards Y/N lately. Why's that?"

Jamie:" Oh, that...I have my reasons."

Toni:" And those are?"

Jamie:" Do I have to explain every detail?"

Toni:" No, but it's unlike you. Usually you two are always bickering. Did he do anything to you?"

Jamie:" What? No, Y/N is not the type to hurt women."

Toni:" Okay, just wanted to make sure. What is it then?"

Jamie:" Urgh, this is already annoying."

Toni:" I won't stop bugging you until I have an answer!"

Jamie:" Very funny. What do expect me to say?"

Toni:" The truth maybe?"

Jamie:" There are a lot of things bothering me. Y/N is one of them."

Toni:" And what about him bothers you exactly?"

Jamie:" He changed, okay? When we were both in Japan, he was an insecure mess. He always thought that he couldn't do it. And he has never been this sweet towards me either."

Toni:" Sweet in which way?"

Jamie:" During a meal after a show just a few weeks back. He says he thinks of our friendship as closer than anyone else's. Then after my match, he's been trying to butter me up. And when we got to my hotel room, he stayed and made sure I was okay...This is all new to me."

Toni couldn't help but giggle a bit as her friend was clearly overwhelmed by Y/N's antics. She knew Jamie pretty well and without going into much detail, Jamie hasn't had many people in life doing such things for her.

Toni:" Well, maybe he's hoping for more."

Jamie:" Are you kidding me?"

Toni:" Nope. I see your banter with him every time at the arena and I know his expressions. Yeah, Y/N can be a jerk, but he's not a bully or anything. He's just keeping you on your toes."

Jamie:" I was reaclose to kick his ass for that so many times."

Toni:" Fair, but you haven't. Y/N is still your best friend and you care as much about him as he cares about you."

Jamie sighed softly as she took a minute to digest those statements. Over the years, she had to step up her game quite a lot and recently she showed great progress which Y/N complimented every time. He was a sort of coach to her and helped during sparring sessions more often than not, so his opinion mattered a lot. Running a hand through her hair, Jamie accepted the thoughts she tried so hard to supress.

Jamie:" Okay...maybe I should take things more seriously. Do you think Y/N actually likes me?"

Toni:" Well, duh! He's doing everything to make you feel comfortable, to make you open up more. Y/N is tough to crack, but he has a good heart. As his best friend, you should know that!"

Jamie:" Right right, okay! Should I ask him out though?"

Toni:" Yes, but do it when you two are alone. I don't think he could handle it within a crowd."

Jamie:" Fair. He's not much of a social person. Maybe I'll ask him when we're back at the hotel."

Toni:" Sounds good to me. I hope you have thought about where to take the lucky guy."

Jamie:" Shooooosh!"

Jamie did anything to now shut Toni up, but she also had to fan some air at herself to cool down. It really wasn't an easy topic for her and she didn't want to ruin her friendship with Y/N, but she had to make a move one day.

A little later, Y/N was with one of the guys as they brought a giant frisbee that they were passing back and forth. They needed to entertain themselves as well and this alone was a lot of fun to do while the girls were fooling around in the ocean.

Y/N:" Nice throw, Juice."

Juice:" Doing my best, Y/N. C'mon, pass it back over."

Y/N:" Alright, get ready."

Juice Robinson, Toni's husband, smiled as he got in position while Y/N stretched and got ready to throw. He enjoyed the time at the beach a lot, clearing his mind of any negative thoughts or any other issues. The next episode of Dynamite would see him wrestle Scorpio Sky because of what happened at the contract signing, so there was a bit of a challenge coming. It was good though because it brought a new rush to the product. Once the frisbee was in the air, Y/N took a different turn, sprinting towards the water and jumping in to cool off as well. Everyone looked at him and kaughed softly, but it was all in good fun as he pranked a few peoole who were unaware of his presence by brushing his hand against their ankles. Hearing them yelp in surprise was a lot of fun to him, but soon he found himself near Jamie and Toni, so he rose back up from the water and stood in between the two.

Y/N:" Hello ladies."

Toni:" You really like messing with people, huh?"

Y/N:" The element of surprise is strong in me. It's all innocent fun so far."

Jamie:" Riiight. You and Juice had fun?"

Y/N:" Oh yeah, we did. He's a good sport to be honest. Funny guy and knows how to play."

Jamie:" Good to hear, Swumpy."

Y/N:" Excuse me? What's that supposed to mean?"

Jamie didn't answer that though and just booped his nose for a second, now turning the tables on the young man. Eventhough he did most of the heavy lifting in terms of being sweet, she wanted to show him that she had a side like that too.

Y/N:" Oh you're something special, Jamie."

Jamie:" I'm just myself, Y/N. Didn't think this rose could put her thorns aside?"

Y/N:" I know a lot about you, but this...this is nice."

Toni gave a thumbs up to Jamie while she smiled and hugged Y/N in a surprising turn of events. With everything slowly falling into place, it would only be a matter of time until everything clicked with the two.
