"The solo for sectionals goes to John" Washington started as he walked into the room. Everyone turned to stare at me from my seat in the back of the room. It made me uncomfortable. I hated attention.

And yet I chose show choir.

"What?! But I always get the solo!" Eliza argued
"Exactly. We're changing it up a bit. I would love to hear John's voice out there" Washington excused her
"That's not fair!" Eliza continued to argue
"How so Miss. Schuyler?"
"It just isn't!"
"Huh." Alexander mused

"Next is the group song, then John and Alexander for a duet"

I blushed as I heard I was doing a solo with Alexander. Gah! Cheeks tone it down a bit!

"Alexander could you pass out the set list?" Washington asked as he handed Alex a stack of papers
"Okie dokie" Alexander walked around, handing everyone a paper

He got to me last, teasing me and not giving me the paper. I crossed my arms and glared at him.

"Cmon, I'm just teasing" he chuckled, ruffling my hair
"Don't do that." I said firmly
"Yessir" He said finally giving me the damn paper

Alexander took his seat beside Eliza and listened to Washington as he explained everything.

"John for your solo you'll be singing somewhere only we know. The group song will be Keep holding on and the duet will be no air"
"I thought me and John were doing that duet!" Peggy cut in
"Last minute change" Washington said shortly

"John, Alex, work on the duet. Everyone else is free to go" he said before walking away

Alexander walked over to me and offered his hand
"I can get up on my own." I said standing up and crossing my arms
"Okay okay" He said putting his hands in the air defensively

"We need to practice." I took my set list and sat on the piano, going over the lyrics

Alexander sat at the piano and started playing the song.

I sat beside him at the piano so he could see the lyrics too

Alexander had turned to face me

"I walked, I ran, I jumped, I flew right off
The ground and float to you
There's no gravity to hold me down, for real" Alexander sung on his own. When he was done singing that verse he looked at my lips and started to lean in

I stood up quickly "I have to go!"
