Chapter two
Delilah instantly looked to the ground, much alike the other girls left in the line. Nobody would dare to look at the Gods'.
Not even the Alphas'.
"We didn't realise that you would be joining us this year..." Alpha started off, but he was cut across by one of them.
"We have been informed that at least one of us has a soul mate here"
Several gasps were heard, but still, nobody looked up.
"Please be calm and civil as we look around, we only want to take our mate. No harm shall come to any of you unless you get in our way. Thankyou"
The voice was the same both times, Delilah noted. His voice was soft but had a stern edge to it. Delilah couldn't help but think that if she had to be taken by one of these men, if he had a soft voice like his, she surely wouldn't face such a harsh death.
The men started to walk down the line of girls, all close together, but were moving on pretty fast. She could hear several people let out breathes, but she knew that she couldn't until she was in the safe.
Each girl had to look up when a man was infront of them, so when the fisrt one came around, Delilah did as she was told.
Her eyes met soft green ones. They were quite plain, but beautiful all the same. He had curly blonde hair and a soft smile, but he just shook his head. Some how, Deli could tell that that was the man who had spoken.
The next man had light brown hair. His eyes were a hazel nut colour, light all the way through. He just shook his head, continuing on his quest to find his mate.
Delilah was almost certain that she had successfully gotten through her first choosing alive, but that soon all came crashing down.
The next man was massive, his height was tall ad his muscles were wide. His eyes were a stromy grey, layer after layer of shades building up on one another. His hair was black, wet from the rain, and dripping down slightly.
He nodded at Delilah and went out to reach her arm. She froze up, pertriffied of the man infront of her, until a hand stopped him.
"What do you think you are doing with my mate?"
Delilah looked to the man next to him. He had styled black hair and dark blue eyes, so dark that they almost blended in with his pupils. His face was stern, but not necessarily angry. The bigger man glared.
"She is my mate, brother" he spat out in a deep, intimidating voice. Delis' eyes widened. Surely one of them was mistaken? She couldn't have two mates... it just wasn't possible!
"Great. I almost expected you two to share a mate, being brothers and all, but now I have to share one with you too. Great"
It was the last man who spoke. He had blonde hair, which you would have thought would have made him less intimidating...
It didn't.
His eyes were pitch black. Yes, actually, His pupil couldn't be seen, nor could the white of his eye. It was like looking into a pair of black holes, a demon hiding beneath the surface.
The three men were all glaring at each other challengingly, whilst poor Delilah had no clue what to do. She just stood there, eyes wide, breaths deep.
Deli felt a hand on her shoulder and head instantly whipped to the side. It was the first man looking at her with a sorry smile. He let out a sigh held his hand out for her to shake.
"Caerus, God of Luck and Favour" he spoke smoothly. Deli hesitated, but eventually took his hand and shook it softly.
"D-Delilah" she whispered, still unsure of how to react to the whole situation. These men in front of her were clearly no Gods' of luck, and she didn't want to know.
He smiled softly and began to walk away, pulling her along by her hand. Delilah, of course, obeyed his command. She wasn't about to disrespect a God.
"Where do you think you're going?" It was Mr Blue eyes, his arms crossed tightly across his chest. "She's our mate. Not yours, Caerus. Now give her back"
Delilah thought that he was going to straight off hand her other, but the man didn't let go. He just continued to hold on tightly to her small and delicate hand.
"She's not a toy or a possession, Phobos," the man said calmly. "And I know that she is your mate, but you boys have some things to discuss. I will merely take her to collect some of her belongings and to say goodbye to her family. Now, good day"
Delilah was shocked at his words. He didn't have to stand up to him for her, and yet he still did it. He owed her nothing, but now she owed him the world. Girls never got to say goodbye to their families, never.
They arrived at her flat door not long after, and her mother quickly opened the door, pulling her into her chest.
"Indigo told me what happened" she said, tears in her eyes. Indigo was there? Her mother looked behind her to see Caerus. "Is he one of them?" she whispered. Delilah shook her head, walking past her mother.
In the living room was Indigo, Daisy and two men. Daisy instantly ran at her, hugging her dear sister tightly. "Oh thank God you're alright" she said. Delilah nodded, begining to cry slowly.
Indigo then joined the hug. Indigo and Deli didn't hug much, but when they did, they knew that they loved each other.
"Who are they?" Delilah asked, being the first to step out of the hug. Daisy smiled widely, running up to a blond man with glasses. He was about the same height as her, but just a lot skinnier.
"This is my mate, Thomas" Daisy spoke out, pecking him on the cheek. He clearly wasn't very strong, but she looked happy all the same.
And he looked as though he adored her.
Then it was Indigos' turn. She looked timid next to the man, but not totally uncomfortable. "This is Alpha Daniel," she said. He smirked down at her and wrapped his hand around her waist. Indigo tried her best not to blush but it clearly still poked through.
But when Delilah asked about Libby, the girls both instantly paled. "Her mate wouldn't let her come back to say goodbye. He was some Vampire Lord person, and didn't look the happiest" Daisy said, her nose scrunching up in disgust.
Delilah nodded. Libby seemed to have it bad, but she dreaded what was to come for her.
"Heres your bag sweetie," her mum said, passing her a small rucksack. Deli nodded as she hugged her mother goodbye. Caerus was still stood outside, minding his own business. Delilah respected him, for that. Of course, she already had to act respectful towards him, but she now truly felt it.
"Is that all?" he asked, eyeing the small bag. She nodded. She knew that he would be used to a luxurious life, but in the human world, her family was doing good.
He nodded, leading her back down the stairs. Deli had no clue what was coming, but all she knew was that it wouldn't be good.
When they got outside, Caerus turned to her. "We'll be travelling now. Sorry about this" he side before he blew a handful of green, sparkling dust onto Delis' eyes;
Leaving her in a world of darkness.
