Chapter Three

“Yeah Bri, I'm not worth it,” Tyson sneered. “You, me, and everybody else know you are not about that life. You're just a scared little girl, that same little girl who watched her mother get killed in front of her,” Tyson spat.

Brianna's eyes fluttered open as she gasped. She grasped at her chest and sat up in the bed. She glanced over at Kaine, and he didn't even stir in his slumber. She wished she could be him right now. She was up feeling the guilt of killing a human being. Brianna ran her hand through her hair and sighed deeply. Tears escaped her eyes as she felt like her revenge may have went wrong. What if someone found out what she did? She killed someone that literally came back from the dead. That was some freaky ass shit.

Brianna got out of bed and strolled out of the bedroom, naked. She walked into the bathroom and turned on the shower. She stepped in and let the water beat down on her body like rain beat the roof of a house. She felt like she was stuck in her own thoughts as tears rolled down her face. Mixed with the shower water, she began to sob loudly as she got out all her emotions. She sank to the floor of the shower and cried in her knees as she had them drawn up to her chest. She didn't know how long she stayed in there. Brianna felt strong arms pull her out the shower. She cried into his chest as her emotions were all over the place.

“Bri, talk to me. Tell me what's wrong?” Kaine asked her, his voice filled with concern.

“What if I go to jail?!” Brianna cried. Kaine lifted her chin so she could look at him.

“You have nothing to worry about. I got you. Nobody will find out what happened,” Kaine assured her. Brianna looked up at him with an uncertain look. “I promise you.”

Brianna nodded her head and buried her face back into his chest. Kaine knew she would feel guilty after the fact. That's why he didn't want her to do it. He guessed what Tyson said about her really hit a nerve. He wished she got over it soon. He continued to rub her back until she got herself together.

Brianna pulled away from him and stepped back into the shower to the bathe her body. Kaine got in with her and washed her off. It felt so good to have his hands on her like that. Not in a sexual way but in a caring way. That's what she needed the most. That caring feeling. Kaine came through for her.

After her shower, Kaine helped her out of the shower and carried her back to her bedroom, laid her on the bed and pulled the covers over her.

“Go back to sleep.” He bent down to kiss her lips. Brianna nodded her head and snuggled deeper into the covers. She yawned and turned away from him.

Kaine shook his head and walked out the bedroom. He strolled to his bedroom and into the bathroom. He turned on his shower to finish washing his body and get dressed for today. He was going to the jailhouse to see if he could see Malik. It was worth a try in his book. He needed to check up on him. Kaine got dressed in a Polo Ralph Lauren outfit. He grabbed his hat and walked out his bedroom. He checked back on Brianna to let her know he was about to go.

“So you mean to tell me I can't see ‘em?” Kaine asked the lady who sat at the front desk at the jail house. He felt his anger rising, but he couldn’t do shit about it. He was not about to be put back in jail for something stupid. He remained calm even though it was a hard thing to do.

“I'm sorry sir, but you cannot see him,” she voiced in a polite voice.

She must be new, Kaine thought in his head. Kaine wasn't trying to argue with this lady to get his ass put back in jail. He shook his head in disbelief and walked out the building. He strolled to his car and got in. He needed something to smoke right about now. Maybe something to drink. He was already frustrated. Just that fast, he was frustrated. He got in his car and drove back home. He would be hitting Zay ass up later.

His phone vibrated in his pocket. He reached in his pocket and pulled out his cellphone.

“Hello,” he answered irritated. Kaine sighed because he was getting a collect call from Malik.

“Man bruh, I don't think I can survive this shit. I don't know how you did it,” Malik stated when he got on the phone.

Kaine chuckled. “Tell you the truth; I don't even know. Niggas down here tripping already. I'm up here now sitting in the parking lot.”

“Damn, I don't even know why you tried. Shit crazy in here, bruh, already. I'm going to end up doing some hardcore time if some nigga jump in my face again. On my mama,” Malik stated with anger in his voice.

Kaine shook his head in disbelief. He didn't have that problem while in jail. He would give niggas a certain look, and shit was dead right there. He knew Malik would need a whole lot of strength to get through this.

“Man, just hold tight. Hopefully, you don't get a sentence. I'm putting money on the book for you today. Just sit tight. I'm about to go make some moves right now.”

Kaine hated this shit. He still felt like it was his fault that his homie was in jail. He still wanted to turn himself in, but where would that leave him and Brianna if he did?

“Ight, bruh. This phone about to cut off. We will talk soon, be safe out there,” Malik voiced.

“One.” Kaine hung up the phone and sighed deeply as he put his car in reverse and backed out the parking space he was occupying.

Kaine drove to IHOP to get him and Brianna something to eat. He knew she probably wasn’t up for cooking anything. He wished she was in a better mood. Killing Tyson probably took a lot out of her. Shit, when he thought he killed him, he sure was worn down with guilt. He just didn't let it show.

When he arrived at IHOP, he killed the engine and stepped out. He strolled in and walked to the counter to place his and Brianna’s order. While he waited, he took the time to text her to see if she was awake yet.

MyCaramelGoddess: Yes, I'm awake. I'm lying in bed, looking at TV.
11:55a.m

Kaine: Oh, I'm at IHOP now getting us something to eat. Do you want anything else?
11:56a.m

MyCaramelGoddess: You.
12:00p.m

Kaine was cheesing hella hard at that. He shoved his phone back in his pocket and ran a hand over his head. He needed to go to the barbershop badly. He would go tomorrow.

Eventually, the food finally came. Kaine paid and left. He was now on his way home to Brianna. He considered his home, hers as well now. He wondered how did she felt about it being her home as well.

His phone vibrated on the drive home. He grasped it in his hand as he looked down at the number. It was an unknown call. He scrunched his face up into a frown.

“Hello,” he answered.

“Your days are numbered,” The caller snarled and hung up. Kaine merely shrugged and placed the phone back into the cup holder. He couldn't do shit about the call. He would wait it out and see what was the meaning behind that call. He had other shit to worry about then to worry about niggas making threats over the phone.

Kaine made it home, dead the engine of the car, and got out. He made his way to the front door and opened it with the food in his hands. He walked in, tossed his keys on the counter and walked upstairs to Brianna’s bedroom. He opened the door and walked in. She laid on the bed with the television on, but she was playing a game on her cellphone as usual.

“What's up?” Kaine sat the food on the nightstand beside the bed.

Brianna shrugged and sat up in the bed. She pulled the covers over her naked chest. She moved over and Kaine sat down on the bed. He occupied the spot she just left. He looked in the bag and pulled out her box of food. He handed her hers and walked out the bedroom. He strolled back downstairs and into the kitchen. He grabbed two glasses from the cabinet and opened the refrigerator door to retrieved the orange juice jug. He poured both him and Brianna a glass full. He strolled back upstairs and into the bedroom.

He sat back down on the bed and placed the glasses on the nightstand. He grabbed his box of his food and opened it. A steak omelet with hash brown and two pancakes awaited him.

Kaine looked over at Brianna as she ate. “Is it good?” he asked with a chuckle.

Brianna gave him a side glare. He started laughing at her. “Don't do that.”

Kaine held his hands up and got comfortably in the bed with her. He took his shoes off.

They ate in silence as they watched a rerun of Supernatural.

“Umhmm, Dean can get it,” Brianna mumbled. Kaine's eyes narrowed as he cut an eye at her. She was so into the show that she didn't even see when Kaine peered at her.

No the fuck she didn't say what I think she said. He thought.

“What did you just say?” he questioned her. Brianna gave him a confused look.

“Huh?” she asked bewildered. What the hell was he talking about? she thought to herself.

“Nothing,” Kaine muttered. He couldn't believe the jealousy he felt from that comment she made about an actor on the television. I need to get it together.

“What are you doing today?” she inquired.

“Going to Zay’s house to talk business,” he stated.

Brianna nodded her head. “Ooh, I want to ride.”

Kaine smirked. “Oh, you want to ride, huh? Come get on top, then.”

Brianna's mouth opened slightly. She swatted him on his arm. “You know what I meant.”

Kaine roared in laughter. “I know, I'm just teasing. I mean, you can still ride if you want.” Kaine gave her a sly grin.

Brianna would love to ride him, but she wanted to finish eating her food so she could take another nap. She got him later. She would make sure of it.

“Turn down for what, muthafuckas!” Zay exclaimed as he brought out a bottle of Hennessy.

Kaine had his cigar between his lips as he took a long pull off of it. He thought about that morning, after he and Brianna ate, they took a nap. He woke up to her giving him head. It was the best he ever had. She always woke him up like that. She knew exactly what she was doing when it came to pleasing him. He returned the favor and soon the both of them were fucking like rabbits all over the bedroom. He couldn’t get enough and the way her kitty kept calling him; he was enjoying it. They stopped when he caught a cramp in his leg. They erupted into laughter until the both of them had side pains.

“Kaine, you okay, bruh?” Zay asked with concern.

Kaine nodded his head as he looked over at Brianna. She and Tayla seemed to be in a heated argument. Kaine probably knew what the argument was about. Brianna's hair was pulled back into a ponytail out of her face. Her makeup was done beautifully, and her outfit she wore was banging. Especially how she wore it. She wore a black sweater and blue jeggings with black Ugg. He licked his lips as he looked at her. He couldn’t seem to keep his eyes off her.

“Kaine, I think you need a drink,” Zay put the glass in Kaine's face. Kaine took it with a glare. “What’s up with you? You were spaced out since you got here.”

“Shit, I’m straight. Just worried about Malik. He called today, plus I went up there to see him. I couldn’t even see ‘em,” Kaine shook his head.

Zay scoffed. “Police bullshitting, bruh. Maybe I could go see ‘em. I don’t have a criminal record,” he suggested.

Kaine thought about. “That would be a good idea.”

“No, you supposed to be my friend, but you keeping shit from me. That’s fucked up!” Brianna exclaimed. Kaine looked over at Tayla and Brianna. That outburst was loud.

“Really, Bri? You need to get over it. We did it for your own good. Like you really would have look at dude funny if he had to tell you straight up that he killed Tyson. You were just coming to grips with the whole relationship being over, your damn self. So, before you try to call me out about not being a good friend, know who you are talking to,” Tayla snapped.

Brianna rolled her eyes. “Whatever. I’m so over this conversation.” Brianna walked away from Tayla. Both Kaine and Tayla basically said the same thing. Maybe it was her who was overreacting. She didn’t saw it that way, though. Brianna went to sit by Kaine. She took the liquor glass out his hand and tossed it down her throat instead.

Kaine looked shockingly at her, as Zay smirked. He poured her another one. She tossed it back again. Zay went in to give her another one, but Kaine took the glass out Brianna's hand.

“Okay, I think you had enough,” Kaine stated. Brianna pouted and folded her arms. Tayla rushed out the living room and made her way to the bathroom holding her hand over her mouth.

Zay sighed deeply. She seemed to come down with a bug. She was always throwing up now. He didn’t know what her problem was. He hoped that she was okay. He went to check on her. He found her face first into the toilet, vomiting.

“Tayla, are you okay?” he asked her. Tayla held one index finger up and continued to throw up in the toilet. Zay leaned against the counter with his arms folded.

“I need a rag,” Tayla gagged. Zay quickly opened the bathroom closet door and grabbed a rag out of it. He closed the door back and went back to the sink. He turned the water on warm and wet the rag. Tayla flushed the toilet and closed the lid. She sat down on it and held her head. She looked pale in the face. Zay gave her the rag and bent down in front of her.

“Now can you tell me what’s bothering you?” he inquired.

“I don’t even know myself,” Tayla sighed deeply. She gulped loudly as she felt her stomach rumbling again. It sounded like an angry cloud getting ready to start a thunderstorm.

“Go lay down; I’ll bring you some soup later.” Zay helped Tayla off the bathroom commode. He helped her into his bedroom and took off her clothes. He only left her in her bra and panties.
“I’ll be back to check on you later.” Zay walked out the bedroom and closed the door. He could be caring when he wanted to. Especially when it came to someone, he cared about. He loved Tayla and would do anything for her. Last night, they didn’t even make it in the house good before they were tearing at each other clothes. They went at it for hours until they were exhausted.

Zay strolled back into the living room. Kaine had Brianna on his lap, tongue kissing her. “Uhh eww, take that shit back to your crib. My fucking eyes bleeding,” Zay joked as he closed his eyes.

Brianna ended the kiss and got off top Kaine lap. She sat back down beside him and hid her face from Zay.

Brianna lifted her head, “Where is Tayla?” Brianna inquired, as she looked around for Tayla.

“In the bed. She not feeling well,” Zay responded back.

Brianna wanted to go check on her, but since their argument, she thought against it. She didn’t want to piss Tayla off more.

“So, I’m going to go see Malik tomorrow. I’ll let you know how it goes,” Zay said from the kitchen.

“Yeah, do that,” Kaine stated. Brianna gave him a look; it was time to go. “Aye, we will get up later.” Kaine stood up and made his way to the door, with Brianna close behind him.
