Jaemin's life is an absolute wreck. A college drop out overtaken by drugs and has no purpose in life.
That is until a particular sadistic angel is sent his way.
***this is part of a mini series. there will be multiple parts for this!
It's getting bad again.
Jaemin's been down this route before; unfortunately, it's quite common for him. He knows all of the tell-tale signs that he's getting worse.
The manic high. The emptiness afterwards. The need to destroy something.
Himself.
It's a particularly stormy night. Lightning flashes white across the small, horizontal bathroom window. The orange light flickers against panel, casting the dirt-covered bathroom in an unstable, dark haze. A familiar white substance lays in a neat line across the cold bathroom counter.
Jaemin plugs one nostril and leans down, sniffs half the line before jumping nearly five feet in the air when he hears his voice.
"So we meet again, Na Jaemin."
The rest of the cocaine falls to the floor in small particles.
A snort sounds behind him. "How graceful."
Jaemin bites his bottom lip and sucks in a deep breath before turning around, fists clenched.
"What areβ" He pauses, glances at the locked bathroom door then back to the other. "How did you get in here?"
Donghyuck blinks. "I told you, I'm an angel."
Jaemin gives him a dead look and crosses his arms. "Where are your wings?"
A sly smile stretches onto his lips. "Wouldn't you like to know?"
Rolling his eyes, Jaemin turns around the the counter and presses his index finger against the left side of his nostril and leans down, only to pause in his tracks and widen his eyes. Sudden anger takes over his bones as he looks at the clean, wooden counter. No powder in sight.
"You do this on purpose, don't you?"
Donghyuck shrugs and curse him for looking so cherubic.
The other groans and raises his hands in the air in frustration. "Whatever! I'm done." He turns around quickly and swings the bathroom door open and ignores the long line of people yelling at him for taking forever (he politely gives them the middle finger over his shoulder) and travels downstairs.
Footsteps pad behind him. "Oh come on, I thought you were just starting to warm up to me!"
Jaemin opts to ignore the angel, focusing purely on his black Docs as he pounds down the stairs and travels into the kitchen, where he finds a stray cup and helps himself to the lemon flavored vodka on the countertop. He downs it one go, slamming the cup against the counter and kisses his teeth at the sour after taste.
Donghyuck is right beside him with a concerned look. "You don't even know if that cup is clean."
Jaemin pours more vodka into the same cup and stares directly in his eyes as he gulps it all down. He licks his lips afterwards and raises a brow, as if asking, Got something else to say?
When Donghyuck doesn't respond, the other takes that as his cue to get away. With another cup in his hand filled with alcohol, he made his way to the dance floor. He's not sure who exactly was hosting this party or if he was even invited, but he didn't care. Free drugs and free alcohol was all he needed to be convinced. This would be a night where he could forget everything, and that damned fallen angel wouldn't stop him.
There were plenty of people on the floor, swaying their bodies rhythmically to the music blasting from one of the speakers. The whole house seemed to shake with base, a sped up version of some song that he couldn't remember the name of. Energy courses through his veins as he begins to fall into a flow, swaying his hips on beat.
A girl approached him, a drunk look in her eyes as she wrapped her arms around his shoulders and fell in rhythm with him. He smiled down at her before lifting his head and closing his eyes as they danced together.
She was pretty, but he couldn't help but feel out of place with her. She grabbed his chin and brought him down to her lips, but he quickly shook his head and excused himself and moved on. He found his own groove again and under lidded eyes, looked around the room. It was painted in dark purples and blues, casting people in a dark light. Glitter casted off of their skin and sparkled against the light, but nothing could have dimmed the natural glow Donghyuck had.
He stood in the center of the room, staring intensely back at him. His plump, red lips were parted slightly as his doe eyes fluttered. It felt like a siren calling to him, though Jaemin knew that this man was much more than that. There was something untouchable about him, something that only made him want to come closer.
He slowly makes his way towards him. Donghyuck quirks a brow, a smirk playing at his lip as he questions him. His hand is rested over his chest protectively.
Jaemin mirrors his expression in a challenging way. "Come on, aren't you supposed to be breaking my view on the heaven-sent?"
Donghyuck hesitates.
"Dance with me, doll-face."
The meet in the middle, and Donghyuck smiled shyly at him before plucking his cup from his hands and wrapped them around his waist. His own hands came around Jaemin's broad shoulders, digging into his back as if he were afraid he'd disappear.
Perhaps he was. It's not like that isn't something Jaemin has never done before.
The music intensifies and they nod their heads back and forth as their bodies follow along. It's tense, sweaty and crowded, but all Jaemin can see is Donghyuck and his glistening skin. His neck is extended as he looks at the ceiling and all Jaemin wants to do is feel him moan against his lips andβ
"Thinking of something?" Donghyuck whispers against his ear, bottom lip catching on his lip before he pulls away.
Jaemin blushes suddenly, aware of the bulge that rests against Donghyuck's thigh.
"It's okay," he whispers again. "Follow me."
He grabs Jaemin's hand and guides them through the crowd and up the stairs. This time, Jaemin doesn't put up much of a fight. They pass through hordes of people going God knows what, plenty of sins to pass around, before making it to a back door. The sun-kissed boy pushes it one and reveals the rooftop. It's a small pad with no furniture.
"What're we doing here?"
Donghyuck shushes him before moving further onto the rooftop until he's leaning against the railing, facing the sky. He shoots a smile towards the other and for a split second, Jaemin looses his breath.
Why is he so damn pretty.
Donghyuck points towards the sky once Jaemin lines himself beside him.
"Over there," he points to one direction, a cluster of stars in the sky. "That's Perseus, oh!" He points in a different direction. "That one's the great bear, I heard. I used to love the stars when I was alive." He smiles solemnly.
Jaemin looks at what he's talking about, but finds his eyes drifting back to the boy beside him. He can't possibly find the beauty in the sky when it's right beside him, beating with life and vitality. Everything that he wants; what he needs.
"Donghyuck," he asks, and the other simply hums, not bothering to look away from the stars. "Why are you here?"
He pauses before finally looking away, meeting his eyes. "We were destined to meet, Jaemin. There is only one reason why I'm here."
"For me?" Jaemin asks softly.
Donghyuck nods. "Will you let me help you?"
His breath gets caught in his throat. Donghyuck's eyes reflect the stars, something so bright and beautiful that Jaemin's afraid he may taint it with his blood stained orbs.
He steps back, and Donghyuck falters. He reaches out, taking his pale hand in his.
"You don't have to be ready, yet. I'll still be here."
The only thing he can do is nod and pray that Donghyuck isn't lying.
it's startinggg.
