Love & Friends Do Mix
Adrien's P.O.V
I threw myself onto my bed and landed with a thud on the king-sized mattress. Releasing a loud sigh, I turned onto my side and gazed out of my window at the Effile Tower in the distance.
Today's events flashed continuously through my head. The Startrain trip to London had been pretty... interesting and that's not just because a supervillian had tried to highjack the train and run my classmates and I into outer space.
I'll admit that the zero gravity part had been pretty cool, especially since I got to experience it with my closest friends. Max receiving the horse miraculous was also cool, but that wasn't the reason why I couldn't stop thinking about today.
Flashback
During the train ride I'd traded seats with Alya upon her request. She'd wanted to speak to my best friend Nino. Of course I agreed, but now I wished I hadn't because now things were... complicated.
Alya's seat was next to Marinette who had fallen asleep. There was drool running down her cheek and she was snoring ever so lightly. Luckily, I had my earphones and as I sat down, I swiftly stuck them into my ears. I was just getting to best part of my audiobook when the train swerved suddenly and Marinette's head landed on my shoulder with a thump. She didn't even budge, too lost in sleep to notice. I didn't mind. Marinette was my friend.
Strangely though, I didn't push her off. Instead I leaned my head against hers and shifted closer to her. Her hair had smelt like coconuts and as I drifted off myself I dreamt I was enjoying the tropical fruit on a beach.
When the train returned to Paris, a group of us (Alya, Nino, Max, Kim, Rose, Juleka, Marinette and myself) decided to get some ice cream before heading home. Alya lead us to her favorite parlor and as the others ordered, Marinette came up beside me.
She thanked me for keeping her company as she slept and apologized for any drool she may have gotten on me. I had told her it was no problem and joked about the dream her coconut scented shampoo had given me. She laughed lightly and gingerly poked my arm. I suddenly had the urge to keep her laughing. Even though it was a bit of a strain on my shy persona, I managed to crack jokes throughout the evening. Marinette laughed even though they weren't very funny and I beammed internally at my success.
The excitement of the evening must have gotten to me because I decided quite impulsively to walk Marinette home. Alya had agreed to do it earlier, but decided otherwise. She had this weird glint in her eyes as she and the others walked away from us.
About ten minutes later we were standing in front of Marinette's parents' bakery. The smell of freshly baked bread floated through the air. It was dusk and the last of the evening sunlight had turned everything a gorgeous golden color.
She'd thanked me again for the company and gave me a hug. Marinette always gives hugs, but why did it feel so different today? I noticed something else too. There was a bubbly feeling in my stomach. I knew immediately what it was. Butterflies. Marinette was giving me butterflies! Only one other person had given me butterflies before and I saw her every Wednesday for fencing practice.
Presently
I sighed again as I rolled off my bed and landed on the floor.
What was happening to me? Was I really falling in love with Marinette? But I already had a girlfriend. Kagami means everything to me. I can't be developing feelings for my friend!
Suddenly a thought ran across my mind and I gasped.
Had Marinette always been just a friend?
End.
