I walked across the wasteland, my haz suit protecting me, my energy rifle fully charged.The sound of a twig snapping filled the air, and I spun,There! Hidden behind a tree was one of THEM, one of the Remnants. that survived the initial Purging...I opened fire, the blasts tearing through the tree and the Remnant.I walked and made sure it was dead by delivering another swift shot through its head.A shudder tore through my body as I stared at the body, it was a freak, so hideously warped in comparison to myself, fingers freakishly short and stubby, legs jointed at the wrong part, the hideous shrieks that would tear my ears if it was alive, that jaw.... That horrifying maw filled with teeth... Remnants disgust me... That's why I joined the Cleanup Corps... To eliminate The Remnants and reclaim land from them...A frown took my lips.I knelt down and realized this one wasn't bleeding, it's skin an odd pale..I realized too late it was a trap.Several more Remnants emerged and before I could fire my gun, the spears shot through my arms, and I cried out as I was forced to my knees.The one clearly the leader stepped forwards and yanked the helmet right off my Haz suit.I struggled to breathe in the air."We caught another one..."One said...The leader picked up my gun and examined it."One less makes all the difference..."The creature aimed the gun at me and I closed my eyes, calling for help.It pulled the trigger and nothing happened.I felt myself smirking.it hit me across the face and I spat blood."How. Do. You. Work. It?"It growled."Switch... On the side... FLip it and then press the red button and THEN trigger..."I smirked, it didn't know the mistake it was making.It did as I said and aimed at my face and pulled the trigger, and the back of the gun shot millions of black metal buckshot.
It's eyes went slack and it fell to the ground, dead.I took that opportunity and broke free and my gun was in my hands in an instant and I shot all but one down.I put my helmet on and spoke calmly."Either you take me to your camp or you get buried here and now..."I spat my words at The Remnant.I was led to the encampment... A large citadel that was hidden from the radars...I spoke calmly into my wrist mic."Human encampment located.... Send Dropship now..."As soon as the words left my mouth electrical discharges filled the air as three drop ships materialized behind me, bearing the mark of our home planet...I strode through as the dropships began raining chaos, blasting into the camps, the flames climbing into the clouds as the troops landed, and eliminated the Remnants without Mercy.
