INTRO:
This is my last religion poem!
#5
The perspective of a first nation represented at Harper's Apology
Seen above. (The last part of the video is the first nation's response which is this poem is based.)

......................................................................

Where dread and lost souls roam,
A giggle erupted.
It was soft and cautious at first,
Then grew and grew,
Until it busted.

My hearts now burst into joy,
The spirit within me chants.
No longer will I be put down,
From endless turmoil,
But get up on my feet and dance.

Once I lived under a spell,
Made me helpless as a babe.
One day a stranger came,
Broke my family to pieces,
We couldn't escape.

He grabbed me by the arm,
Sent me to" school."
It was rather a prison,
So I could be "educated" he says
But they were just cruel.

They cut my hair off,
All that joy.
Replaced by grave sadness,
Like the death of a member,
I cried a lot as a boy.

I was beaten to the pulp,
Told I was worth nothing but dirt.
To enforce this,
Many start to disappear,
But they were burried,
On the school's outskirts.

They haunted us,
Those nuns and priests.
They came at night,
And  pounced under the covers
Such lust hungry beasts.

Now today I hear the crimes done to me,
Spoken by one of power.
Who's sorrys  have warmed my heart,
The wind is changing,
I no longer need to cower.

The future is bright,
For those who have walked on the same trail.
Climb out of deep drinking wells,
Peek out of those reserves,
Now we can purely inhale.

They have a change of hearts,
New opportunities  are on the horizon.
Let's teach our old ways,
For they shall never be forgotten,
Our future  is shinin'

Now we are teaching our ways correctly,
In the schools.
I sing,
I dance,
And thank you.

Authors Note

Yay!I finished my homework!
I just hope it's good enough.
Or not to long....

Anyway  I'm gonna print this and Come back to you guys with a happier  poem about Canada cause to tell you this part of Canada's history is the darkest.

I know it sounds impossible, good, caring Canada wouldn't  do that!

Sorry to pop your bubble but even Canada can be cruel.

Did you know that first nations  were  not considered  people?

Crazy I know.

That's why they were the last people to get  their rights to vote.

Then the rest of their rights as a citizen  follow suit.

It was until they found out what Germany  was doing  in WW2
With Jews and genocide  and all was when they decided to smarten up.

The only thing  I really wish Trudeau could do instead  of taking his family to India is to really sit down  and try to rewrite or even anal the Indian Act cause it is still ruining people's lives!

The Indian Act may have all of these false promises to first nations, but it is the only legal document  that keeps their Indian  status where they have rights to lands and  to practice their traditional  lives.

Without that they are unable to live or function.

The Indian Act as not been changed/modified since it was imposed in 1876.
1876!
It's now 2018

You are seriously long  overdue of an update!

Keep up with the times people!

If you can't destroy it
Or replace it
at least Modify it or modernize it.
Society 's values has changed in these past 2 decades, the law shoukd match those said values.

You don't make a law about  challenging someone to a  duel today!

Or whats the point of making a law?

Inhale.
Exhale.
Inhale.
Exhale.

Sorry,
I get so worked up on things,
Especially  things that are so simple it frustrates me.

I bet the government have a reason but if they don't they better start working.
A.S.A.P.

But still  why haven't you done -

Nope, not going that trail again.

Thanks for reading my poem.
It means a lot!

If you have a topic you would want me to address here in a form of a poem.
Feel free to comment!

Bye!
