Dark Sky Blue

INTRO:

This poem is inspired by my fictional character Tigress Taiwan. And historical figure Harriet Tubman.
It is about a girl who was depressed because of slavery of her people now bravely looks onto hope and is eager for the new day.

Darkness darkness, dark sky blue,

Acts like a thick fog, shielding hope from view.

It eats and eats 'till no light shines,

Oppression, shattered dreams ,

by the wrist it binds.

Yet hope remains locked away in my heart,

The dawn of the end of a vile era now starts.

Darkness, darkness, dark sky blue,

Trapped no longer,

I am brand new.

A blank slate only to be written,

Kissed by sunlight never frost bitten.

Too good to be true.

In front of me,

Bars  lock  me in.

At my feet,

Dark coils slither tightly  around my

shin.

Even my heart has its own cage that

  it longs to be freed.

I believe in freedom,

That is my creed.

Darkness, darkness, dark sky blue,

Head high, dreams pursued.

Pink sky, yellow sun,

Look for me, I am gone.

Darkness, darkness, dark sky blue.

I'll  sneak back only for you .
