Perspiration accumulated on my forehead, my heart palpitated profusely as I marched back and forth inside the classroom. I could feel my classmates' stares at me but I pushed it to the back of my mind and let the words flow instead. Indecipherable mutters escaped from me, but in my brain, I was struggling hard.

What if I trip again? What if I make a mistake again? I don't want that to happen. I don't want to cry again just because I made a mistake. Those people who were reciting, they did it perfectly. And while the others in my class may be horrible at reciting, it does not mean that I have to care less about my grades.

" Marie... Stop panicking. You're gonna do fine." My friend, Rina, looked at me with a worried face."Yeah. Don't worry. It's alright." Franco said, putting his hand on my shoulder.

I scoffed, " Huh, good for you to say it. You're good at this things, you're probably gonna be the first again." I glared sharply at him.

Suddenly, I heard my name.

" Shoot. It's my turn..." With a hung head, I walked to the front. In front of everyone else.

I exhaled and collected my thoughts, saw Rina cheering for me silently, and recited. My mind was in a busy frenzy, my own body heating up as the seconds passed, especially at the climax. As I neared the most important part, I couldn't help but speak louder and faster. Just a way for me to exert the nervousness out of my body.

But I did it, I finished it. Hopefully without any mistakes.

"Congratuations!" Rina hugged me. I did too, with a big smile on my face. Suddenly, everything was like it was on unimportance.

I begged my teacher to let me do it again, not only for higher grades but also for the exhilaration. However, she didn't. I regretted not putting my all into it. But, thanks to this experience, I keep asking one important question to myself.

Why did I ever feel nervous?
