The Knight(Concept writing)

(Sorry if this is short. This is more intended to be writing out a scenario concept I can't word properly as an actual story. Told from the perspective of someone writing a journal. Idk maybe if people like it I'll make it better. Or write a follow up)

Journal entry number.. I don't know. Doesn't matter. Just needed to write what's happening down somewhere.

None of us knew who that knight was before Spinal collapsed. No one had even seen it. Yet there it was, when no one else approached his limp body, a knight appeared from the woods. A rusted, creaking hulk of metal, shrouded by haze. It rattled as it moved, looking for injuries before carefully scooping him up.

It turned tail and trudged off. I don't know how it managed to find Spinal's house. But it did and for awhile it wouldn't let us in. My partner was... a little angry to say the least. She quickly calmed down when The Knight let us in, and found Spinal in bed, unconscious but bandaged. We were just happy he was alive.

The Knight never left the house. It cleaned up any messes, and fed Kibble. Even went the extra mile of doing things like scrubbing the windows. We grew a little less wary when Kibble didn't hiss or snap at it, the only person Kibble didn't nip at was Spinal, and this knight? Kibble loved it. We tried talking to it, but it didn't understand us. Just as well though, because it tried to speak to us too. None of us have even heard the language it spoke before.

Over the past week, we've tried to see if anyone in town knew what it was saying. No one did. Not Casey or Julian(despite his best efforts to figure it out), not Taylor, not Jamie. That weird scientist on the edge of town remarked it sounded incredibly familiar, but he couldn't place it. Freaked him out a bit actually. "It feels like I should know this. At the very least remember it." he said. The Knight seemed pretty resigned to the responses. As if it expected it.

Not everyone in the group trusts it. I've heard my partner mutter some choice words and threats regarding the knight and if it ever hurt Spinal. In turn, the Knight isn't really fond of us either. Its helmet is half caved in, so crushed in fact you couldn't tell where the eyeholes used to be. But you could practically feel it's icy stare whenever we were too close to Spinal. It never attacked, only watched, just in case I assume.
I think we can put our differences aside eventually. When it's not taking care of the house, or cooking, or staring at us, it was waiting. I've seen it when I went over to check. I've seen it pace around, write, lay propped up against the bed. Even sit in a chair way too small for its size. It was waiting for Spinal to wake up. Just like the rest of us. It clearly cared just as much as we did, if not more. I'd seen it shake and tremble, as if it was silently sobbing.
I'm tempted to pry, see what this Knight's deal is. It'd be a quick tap on the shoulder and I'd know. But it's given me no reason for distrust. It hasn't hurt Spinal, it hasn't hurt me, or anyone else. It's been nothing but helpful. Despite its cold glares it's never attacked. I'm choosing to trust it, as it's trusting me.

I hope Spinal wakes up soon. I'm worried about him.
