Food For Thought #1:

As the insistence of my editor, @FirePhoenix323, I gave in. They liked some of my rambling so here goes. By the way, this is just food for thought because...just because.

Happiness:

Happiness and contentment is dyed in blood. War fuels empires and greed fuels people.

Society:

Struggle as we might, we cannot change our own system. Our mistakes are greater than the individual and thus, our cooperation is needed to fix it. But with the state of things and our own nature, who will? Who can?

People:

People are delicate, people are weak. That is why they create a system to put others down. It is to convince themselves that they are strong. But no, it is just the weak trampling on the weaker. Unfortunately that is how we are predisposed to think. The weak travel in packs, eliminating those that are not needed.

Hypocritical, Arrogant Thinkers:

Is love an emotion or an expression of loneliness? After all, humans crave a social life. It is both a poison and a cure but misused, it will ultimately spiral to a pit of pain.

Which begs the question, what are emotions? What are they really? An aspect of consciousness or just a neural pathway? We have no way of knowing and yet we ask those pointless questions. Our existence is a contradiction, just like our actions. We stare at the stars but cannot grasp them. We are arrogant thinkers - an arrogant collection of cells.

The Blessing and Curse of Regret:

We will lose somebody. It is inevitable. We take for granted what we have, only to mourn when we lose it. We are frankly, the lowest of the low. But even the most spineless of us all value something and will do anything to protect it. When the bells begin to chime, when the day fades to night, we fail to grasp what is most precious to us. That is, we regret. The thoughts of what if, taints our heats but we can do nought about it. Perhaps that is a blessing in disguise. After all, if we get what we want, we succumb to the honeyed lies of greed.

Thus, we must try; we must try our best.

Because at the end of the day, we only have what we get.

What Comes First? Currency or Sentience?:

Simple as the answer may seem, we need to ponder the nature of currency. Currency is a unit of exchange - one thing for another. Human society has used it since people have become sentient. However, is currency really a manmade idea? For a predator, a life is exchanged for its survival. For plants, the idea of exchanges still stands. Yet, it could just be seen as survival; it could just be a means to live.

After all, currency is just a label, a name for an idea.

So what came first? Currency or Sentience?

******

And that's it. Yes, it's not a story, nor is it a poem but it makes you think. Oddly enough, most of the inspiration comes from horror comics, yes, horror comics. They make you think about the human condition and about fears - the abstract things.

Anyways, comment what you guys think about these rambling sentences. I hope you have a great day.
