1) Beware the daemon forces... they are all around you... right now they are leaning over your shoulder, icy breath sending shivers up your spine... don't look behind you...

2) Skinny, leafless trees rattled and knocked against each other like a fist rapping on a door. A crow let out a loud caw and Jasmine couldn't help but think of horror movies. A chilly breeze stirred the dead brown leaves that rested against the stone path on which she walked. The crow took flight, wings beating powerfully against the air. Jasmine continued to walk. Suddenly, a mangled scream pierced the air like a gunshot, instantly causing the hairs on Jasmine's arm to rise and giving her intense goosebumps. Without thinking she broke into a sprint, desperate to escape the haunting scream and whatever caused it. Then she heard it- the sound of a brittle leaf cracking underfoot. A hand grabbed hold of her arm, and she started to scream...

3) Monica tossed and turned in her sleep like a ship in wild water. The shadowed figure crouched by her bed, long, skeletal fingers pressing into her temples. Monica screamed, an ear-splitting screech that shattered glass and nerve-endings alike, a sound so full of pain and raw terror that it sent any birds unfortunate enough to be nearby squawking in fright and instantly taking of... and the dark figure smiled.
