The Call
It started out as a feeling
Regina sighed as she sat in class her eyes stuck on the boy sitting in front if her. As he spoke, she couldn't help the warm and fuzzy feeling she got. She wondered if he felt it too. He seems happy when with her, but then again, she's seen him happy with his other friends too.
Then it grew into a hope
About a week later, Regina was with him again. There was a smile on her face. It wasn't a fake smile she had sometimes forced herself to show. This was a true smile. A grin of pure joy as she sat with the boy. She woulda say it, but she helped he felt the same way he did
Which then turned into a quiet though
Regina found her eyes glued to Tristan. She smiled to herself a bit and hid her face as he started writing the notes down.
"I love him" Regina thought.
Which grew into a quiet word
Regina walked off, waving to Tristan as he went into his class. Reina sighed.
"I love you" she whispered.
And then that word grew louder
"I love you" she said quietly, head bowed as she stood next to Tristan.
And louder
"Sorry, What was that?" He asked.
"I said I love you" She said a bit louder.
Till it was a battle cry
"W-what?" He stuttered.
"I love you!" She yelled. She gasped at her own words. Before he could say anything, she ran away, overwhelmed.
I'll come back when you call me
As she laid in bed, she let her phone rest on her nightstand. She had just gotten home from school and was still trying to recover from her mental breakdown she had experienced. Her phone rang once. She let the call roll through. When the person called again, she looked at her screen. "Tristan" it read. She picked up.
"H-hello?"
"I love you too"
No need to say goodbye
Regina couldn't wait for the next day. She didn't let her mind run over the topic of what are they. They've said they like each other, but what does that mean? Whatever it meant, she didn't care at the time. When she saw Tristan in the hall, she ran up and hugged him.
Just because everything's changing
Everything began to change as they started dating. People were surprised to see the two together. Tristan was fairly well known, but Regina was often in the background of a classroom.
Doesn't mean it's never been this way before
But they had both dealt with this before
All you can do is try to know who your friends are
Regina made additions friends. Ones that cared. And her friends she had before getting in a relation ship supported her
As you head off to the war
Regina's self esteem fell. Some girls started picking on her, saying that she was not worth it. That Tristan would leave her, that she was nothing compared to him
Pick a star on the dark horizon
But she didn't let her affect her. She knew Tristan loved her- and as long as she believed that
And follow the light
She will make it through
You'll come back when it's over
"There's something I need to tell you..."
"W-what is it?"
Tristen held up a collage acceptance form for Regina to read
No need I say goodbye
"I'm so proud of oh!"
"You realize what this means right?"
"What do you me- oh."
"Yeah. We wouldn't be able to see each other anymore."
"Are you breaking up with me?"
Tristan's shook his head and kissed her.
"I doubt I could bare to break up with you. But it will be a long distance relationship"
You'll come back when it's over
"Y-you'll come back, right?"
No need to say goodbye
"Of course. There's no need to say goodbye"
...
Regina looked at her phone screen.
"Message read 2/6"
It had been days. No response from him.
A week later. No response.
Two weeks later. No response. She's beginning to loose hope.
A month later. No response. She's given up.
One day, she walks down her street. She sighs and looks down until she sees a car drives through. The driver, frustrated and lost, drives up to her.
"Excuse me, do you know where the address 126- Wait. You look familiar. Regina!?"
"Tristan!" She called, happy tears rolling down her face. He got out of the car quickly and hugged her close.
"I thought it would be years till I saw you again."
"Regina. I quit Collage."
"What?! Why!?"
"Collage isn't for me. And...it was too hard being away from you...."
Regina smiled.
Now we're back to the beginning
Regina's friends asked her questions.
"Who is Tristan" "How long have they been together". She hadn't told them about the long distance relationship
It's just a feeling and no one knows yet
As one friends asked such a question, Regina turned to Tristan and smiled
But just because the can't fee it too
"It's weird. I didn't know him till now. He just...came out of no where"
The friend mumbled
Doesn't mean you have to forget
Regina shrugged. All that mattered to her, is that she and Tristan remembered. They remembered everything.
Let your memories grow stronger and stronger
The memories were overpowering
Till they're before your eyes
Regina started living them again
You'll come back
It's years later. The two grew up and got married. Regina got her degree, and Tristan had started a YouTube channel. They lived happily. And currently, Regina paced back and forth in the hallway that leads to the door.
When they call you
She heard the door unlock and smiled. Tristan walked in, arriving home from work.
"Daddy, daddy!" Tina, their child, called out.
No need to say goodbye
Regina smiled.
You'll come back
"Yes, yes, I'm home" Tristan smiled, picking up their daughter and walking over to Regina.
When they call you
"I missed you"
"I missed you too"
Regina kissed his cheek.
No need to say goodbye
"Eww!" Tina called, now squirming in her father's arms. He laughed and set her down.
Regina smiled. She couldn't have asked for a better life. And best of all, she'd never have to say goodbye to Tristan again, and deal with the heartbreak, again.
