Facing the prince

Hey guys, Dragon here. So, my friends recently introduced me to the Sanders sides series on Youtube. The series is done by Thomas Sanders.

If you haven't put two and two together yet, this short story will be a fanfiction, I suppose you could call it.

Now, as much as i enjoyed writing this, I don't want to be known simply for fanfiction writing, because i then feel like views and vote may be specifically because it is fanfiction. I dont want that. So I may publish a few chapters of a fanfiction works every now and then, but dont expect it to become my main focus.

Credit to Thomas sanders for characters, and credit to the animator of the video in the media section as they are the reason why I came up with this idea.

Hope yall enjoy these two works and appreciate the 'fluff' as my friends called it

Virgil sat in his tent, still feeling the bitter cold from outside, legs to his chest and head bowed as he clenched Roman's sash in his hands. Tears fell from his eyes. He questioned how Roman, the person he loved so much, came to make an alliance with  Deceit. Virgil thought he was smart enough to avoid them  untrustworthy facet.

Roman had betrayed Patton, going against his warnings. He betrayed Thomas, taking him and keeping him prisoner in his own mind. Roman had betrayed Logan, who had trusted him with the information that a being could, in fact, still survive in their mind, given that the being's body is given food and water from an outside force.

Roman had betrayed Virgil.

Virgil wanted to scream. He had begged Roman countless times to protect him from Deceit. Roman has promised he would time and time again. Yet here they were. Roman had joined Deceit. That was more torturous then if Roman had failed to fend off Deceit.

"Virgil it's time we set off." A voice said.

Virgil hardened his face, looking at the sash once again. It may be the last bit of Roman he'll ever have left. Virgil had already accepted that he may die. Roman, may die. Patton, Logan, Thomas, Deceit. Virgil still disliked Deceit, but he couldn't deny the part of him that still felt for the facet, despite everything.

He didn't want to kill Roman. God, he really didn't want to, but he had to protect Thomas. Virgil wasn't just saving himself, he was saving Patton, Logan, and all their followers from complete erasure. Thomas was currently in a coma-like state in the real world. He would stay this way if he remained here. This would have unknown effects on every facet and emotion and citizen in his mind. God, why would Roman take these risks?

Virgil, weak legged and shaky handed, put on the sash and pushed the tent opening aside, ducking a bit as he walked out of the tent. He looked around at the beautiful sight that could very well become a battlefield.

White snow blanketed the ground and it snowed steadily. The trees that were covered in reformed ice glistened in the gentle moonlight. Virgil looked at the two beings in front of him. Logan and Patton stood ready. Virgil placed a hand on his sword, gripping it till his knuckles went almost as white as the snow around them.

Patton was taken aback by how solid Virgil's facial expression was, thought he didn't show it. Virgil held himself with an attitude none of the others had ever seen in him.
What the others interpreted as confidence was not confidence, but rather desperation. He had nothing to lose, and so much to gain by fighting this war. Either way, despite what he said in the "Fitting In" video about not being a strong leader like Slytherins, he does well as a leader of an army.

Virgil nodded in acknowledgment of the other two, taking a deep breath.
"Let's go." He said plainly as he turned on his hill and walked towards where the army ranks awaited.

Patton looked to Logan and noticed his worried look. Logan looked almost sick, as if he might throw up. Patton grabbed his hand and stepped closer. Logan looked to Patton who had a sad yet hopeful smile on his face. A ghost of a smile hinted at Logan's lips as the two followed Virgil.

Roman paced the room on the top of the highest tower. He was blinded. He loved Virgil. He truly did, but he couldn't sit and watch as Thomas was slowly destroyed by he real world. Here, in his mind, he can live out his most fathomable dreams. He can live happy!
And that was their goal, was it not? To make Thomas happy and help him live a life worth living?

Why couldn't the others just see it that way?
Roman drew his sword, preforming a combo against the open in front of him in preparation.

"Roman, please, listen to m-" Thomas started.

"Shut up, Thomas!" Roman hissed, turing his sword on his prisoner.
"This is for your own good!" Roman yelled as his left eye showed, yellow with green scales around it. A sign of his deal with Deceit.
Suddenly Roman laughed. His laugh started as Roman's, then shifted to Deceit's.

Thomas backed away as Deciet took over again. It had been on and off between the two. Roman's pupils dilated and more scales displayed themselves.

"He's right you know, Thomas." Deceit cooed as he walked to the door, when his cape hung.
"The outside world was only doing you harm! All the danger, all the hatered, all the roadblocks! Here, you can do anything! The only thing holding you back, is well, them!"
Deceit yelled, pointing out the window to an army on the horizon.

Thomas shook his head.
"But the outside work has beautiful things too!
Like compassion and food! Who doesn't love food!?" He asked, tears starting to form. Technically speaking, he could eat here, but the food here for him was nearly tasteless.
"Roman, please, snap out of this! You can fight him! We forgive you, just fight him and come back to us."

Deceit grinned. Roman's pupils returned to normal and some scales faded. He looked to Thomas, a blank expression on his face, and eyes glossed over.
"But I don't want to."
Was all he mumbled before walking out of the room and locking it behind him. He sighed and leaned against the door momentarily.

'You Ready?'
Deceit asked in his head.

"Ready as I'll ever be" Roman said, putting his sword in its sheath and marching down the hall.

Virgil sat atop a white horse by the name of Rose. The horse had been Roman's. One could suppose it was another attachment to the creative character. Virgil glared at the castle informs of them. It was currently night. They were visible from the castle, lanterns and torches making their presence known. At dawn, when the sun rose. That's when they would attack.

"Virgil, are you alright?"

Virgil looked to his left t see Patton and Logan. Patton was looking up, worry etched in his features.

"That doesn't matter." Virgil declared after a moment.
"All that matters is that we save Thomas." He said bluntly, yet monotone.

Logan frowned.
"You sure you are ready for this Virgil? Patton or I could always d-"

"No. I'm ready. I'm ready as I'll ever be. And I won't let my problem rest on your shoulders."
Virgil ushered his horse on before the other two could question him.

He felt at fault. Partially, at least. Maybe if he had fought Deceit. Maybe if he had been strong and didn't have to rely on Roman to defeat Deceit, then he could've spared the two any encounters with each other.

Logan turned to Patton.
"Are you sure we can do this?"

Patton thought. He nodded.
"I-I am sure. So what if Roman and Deceit are the two most powerful in the creative realm. We outnumber their ranks. And with Virgil leading and you and I by his sides. Well, I doubt we'll loose!" He reasoned.

He tried to sound confident, but Logan hadn't missed his stutter and uneven voice and shaky smile. Logan leaned in and kissed him gently.
Before Patton could respond, he pulled away, pink dusting his cheeks.

"In case something happens out there."
Patton nodded, pulling him in for a quick hug before mounting his dapple-grey mare, and Logan getting seated on his chestnut stallion.
They shared looks once more before catching up to Virgil.

                                         ~•~

Dawn came quicker than Virgil anticipated. He drew his sword took a deep breath. Ahead were the ranks of Roman's army. Behind them, a castle wall that undoubtedly housed more soldiers behind it.

The sun peaks over the mountains behind them. As the sun cast over the city, Virgil closed his eyes. He remembered.

He remembers the first time he and Roman had a conversation that wasn't derogatory on either end.

He remembered their first Disney movie night together.

He remembered telling Roman of the past between him and Deceit.

He remembered their first embrace.

He remembered their confessions.

He remembered their first kiss.

Oh how blissful they had been. They had wanted to grown old together. They had wanted to be happy and hold each other till their last day's end.

He supposed it was simply not meant to be.
Adrenaline was starting to course through his body and he hardened his heart, readying for killing anyone for the sake of Thomas.
Even Deceit. Even....even Roman.

He opened his eyes just as the sun finished covering the city. With that he raised his sword and pointed it at the opposing army.
With a straight face, yet tears on his cheeks, he yelled the pen word that set everything in motion.
"Charge!"

Then all chaos broke loose.

                                      ~•~

Roman grinned as Virgil's army charged forward. Except, it wasn't Roman in control. It was Deceit. Deceit was pleased with himself.
This way, he could get rid of annoying Patton and Logan. Logan may be useful at times, but Patton was an utter pain and was always in his way. If he got Patton and Logan out of the way, and got Virgil to hate Roman, which he wouldn't imagine would be hard. All he had to do was, while using Roman's body, slay two certain glasses-wearing sides.
Deceit laughed. He was going to do to Virgil what he had done to him.
"Onward!" He hollered.

In one unit, his army followed him to meet Virgil's halfway.

Cries broke out. Some human, some not. Arrows fired and swords and armor clanged. Deceit allowed Roman to take over during the fight, as he was the more experienced swordsman.
Roman hesitated at his first kill.
The sound was sickening. But it was necessary. All for Thomas.

So he continued to rack up his kill count. Having only slain a small amount of the opposing army, he spotted the person he had hoped both to see and to avoid.

Virgil. He was fighting, Patton and Logan no where in sight. Roman felt strange feelings.
He wanted to run up to Virgil and whisk him away from here. Pretend like none of this ever happened. Like it was all some horrible nightmare.

Although, he also found himself angered. Disgusted. These feelings may have been prominently Deceits, but what scared him was that he knew some of these emotions were his own.

With light thinking, he charged at Virgil. He raised his sword, ready to strike at Virgil. He hesitated. He sliced the leg of Virgil's horse, causing the mare to tumble over, rolling on top of the rider who screamed as he fell.

                                       ~•~

Virgil couldn't believe it as he pulled himself out from underneath his mount that had collapsed. His eyes were not on the animal, however, but rather what he hoped was an illusion.

It was Roman, but wearing Deceit's cape. His left eyes was yellow and he had snake like scales on the side of his face. The horse he rode on was as black as Deceit's soul probably was.

Roman approached him again, and Virgil steadied his sword. Roman's eyes softened momentarily.

"Virgil..." he said audibly.

Virgil felt his guard fall momentarily.

Suddenly his pupils displayed and he laughed as he dashed forward, slicing Virgil left arm.
A pained sound escaped Virgil's lips.
One of both emotional anguish and physical pain. Yet he recovered quickly and stood his ground.

"Ahh, Virge. Nice to see you again, my, hmmm, what was it I used to call you? My 'Chemically Imbalanced Romance'?"

Virgil clenched his jaw. He couldn't let Deceit get to him.

"I've been told that Roman's grown attached that name. But let's not forget who originally brought that name about?"

Silence from Virgil.

Deceit's grin fell onto a glare.
"I see I'm not even worth a response. No sorry. No thank you. Wow, I'm not surprised Roman betrayed you so easily!"

Roman's eyes returned to normal momentarily.
"Virgil, find Patt and Lo, he going to -"

His pupils dilated.
"Ah, ah ah. Naughty Roman! You can't backtrack on our plans like that! You agreed to this. This is your fault. Not mine!"
Decided cooed.

Without warning, he dashed forward again, slicing at Virgil's other arm. Using the horse's speed to his advantage, he landed hit after hit. A few Virgil managed to block, but it was very few.

Eventually, Virgil managed to strike down the horse, sending Deceit tumbling, though he quickly rolled to his feet. Virgil was weak and trembling as thunder roared through the sky. Rain started pouring down. The ground became slick and he hair and clothes became soaked, clinging to his body.

Deceit laughed.
"Now that's appropriate isn't it?"

He darted forward, but was warded off by Virgil. The two clashed,  Virgil grunting in pain time to time. The parried at one point, both with their swords and with their eyes, gazes locking.

Then Deceit looked past Virgil and grinned the most wicked smile any man could ever pull.
"Say goodbye!" Deceit called as he backed away, pulled out a dagger, and threw. Virgil turned to see the most horrifying thing he'd ever experience.

The dagger headed straight for Patton, who was finding himself off against many enemies. Logan, who has been a little ways off saw the dagger and tried to call for Patton and intercept the blade, but he was to late. The dagger tore through Patton's shoulder.

As Virgil was distracted he heard a rushing sound behind him. He turned to see Deceit charging at him, sword set to impale him.
Virgil had no time to move or think. He shut his eyes and waited for a pain that never came.

He wearily opened his eyes to see Roman's eyes had regulated and some scales had faded some.
They were so close Virgil could feel Roman's breath on his lips as he panted. He stopped and swallowed momentarily.

"I'm sorry." He mumbled, before kissing Virgil.
Virgil just stood there, his body wanting to melt under the touch, but his mind screaming at him to pull away.

Roman pulled away before Virgil could fully make a decision. His pupils dilated again, the tears that had been in them stalling out.

"Pathetic." Deceitful hissed.

Roman's hands went up to his head and he stepped back, his eyes weren't staying dilated or not, switching constantly between the two.
Slowly, Roman reached for his hip. He pulled out a ring of keys, shaking violently as he lifted them a bit. Then, with sudden movement, he tossed them to Virgil.

"Save Thomas." He said, before passing out.
Virgil ran over to Patton, who was bleeding heavily. Logan tended to his wounds.

"Go save Thomas."

Virgil stood to do so when yelling was heard. He looked over to see Roman back on his feet.
"Ahh, finally! Which a relief to have full control! Now, time for the fun."

Suddenly, out of no where, a dragon appeared. It towered over the three other sides.

"How hilarious! The thing Roman tries to protect you all from will be the thing that kills your demise in the end!"

"Night night!" Deceit said as the dragon opened its jaws and its flames were aimed at Virgil Logan and Parton. Virgil looked over to Roman, who's eyes had gone back to normal and tears glistened in them.

"Virgil!"

Then everything went black.
