My World
A oneshot of the joker confessing his love for Harley
(Idea from FanFictionie )
It was a cold night and the Joker was currently tossing in his sleep, having a painful nightmare as usual.
His results would always end up with Harley hugging him, calming him down until he falls asleep, her soft voice and bright blue eyes making him feel better.
But tonight was different.
He was clutching on to the torn blanket, begging for warmth as he rolled to the left side of the bed, expecting to see Harley next to him, comforting him until he falls asleep.
But she wasn't next to him.
There was nobody there to help him fall asleep.
The woman he loved wasn't beside him and he had a feeling why.
-----------
"Why didn't you tell me you were going to Ivy's!" He shouted, frustration in his voice.
"Because you were mad at me for a stupid reason last night, and I didn't want to sleep on the couch!" She fought back, her lips trembling as she spoke.
The two were arguing about lack of communication and trust their relationship was having. Arguments were something they encountered often, which worried Harley. She didn't want an unhealthy relationship but she wanted to get her say.
"You could've told me you were gonna stay the night! You can't just leave without permission!" He yelled back, Harley's eyes turning a cloudy grey.
She felt a hint of guilt inside of her as she noticed the large bags under his eyes, meaning he'd probably gotten a lack of sleep from another nightmare. But she had feelings too.
"You would've hit me if I said I wanted to leave for the night!" She screamed, letting the last bit of energy inside of her yell back. Her eyes planted onto his as she wiped the sudden tears on her face.
The room was suddenly quiet, a painful silence between them.
Harley just sighed, breaking the silence as she walked toward the room leaving Joker by himself.
He stared at the ground, biting his lip till it bled.
The pain made him remember all of the constant fights him and Harley had over the last few months. It would usually be Harley to speak up and say sorry, but then they'd find another topic to argue about. It didn't help that he had anger issues and urges to kick her out.
But he knew he could never do such a thing.
He suddenly thought about apologizing, his feet walking toward the bedroom door as he stopped in his tracks, looking down at the ground in deep thought.
Nows not a good time.
It'll just make things worse.
Wait.
He slowly nodded his head, walking back outside to cool down from his angry actions. Maybe he could even make things better if he waited.
Harley-
I sat on the edge of the bed in silence, waiting for the tears to fall down.
Oddly, I didn't have the sudden urge to cry. It was like my body had already been through so much tears, there was no use of making more.
I could've stayed with him. He wouldn't have had another nightmare. But I wouldn't have been happy.
I just want a normal relationship. I want to wake up showered with kisses and feeling happy and energetic.
I want to go on dates weekly, and spend most of my time with him.
But I knew that would never happen.
My relationship with him was not normal, nor will it ever be.
We'd always end up finding a way to fight about something.
It would usually end up with a slap to my face but for some reason, that didn't happen today.
I laid back on the massive king sized bed, hearing the door slam which meant I was now the only one in the house, and he went somewhere to cool down.
I let my long blonde hair cascade to the side as I close my deep blue eyes, hoping for a pleasant dream.
One day things will get better.
One day we'll stop fighting.
Joker-
After half an hour of walking outside, I was finally calm enough to apologize to Harley.
I walk inside the house, shutting the door behind as I entered our room, seeing Harley watching television.
Her eyes were glued to the screen, almost forcing herself not to look up at me.
I cleared my throat, making her glance at me for a second before shutting of the tv.
"Harley, I'm sorry about-"
"No. let me talk." She said firmly, completely interrupting my sentence as I shockingly looked back at her.
Her lips were trembling as she stood up and walked closer toward me.
"I-I feel like we're in a one way relationship. Like I love you but you don't feel the same." She spoke, her heart beating quicker after each sentence.
"Harley you know that's not true-" he began, before she cut him off once again.
"Then say it. Scream it to the entire world that you love me and I'll believe you." She practically begged to the man in front of her, waiting for a response.
The Joker sighed, knowing she'd say something like that.
With a swift move, he suddenly moved his face toward her ear.
"I love you." He whispered, pulling away to look in her deep blue eyes once more.
Harley was stunned. She was hurt that he whispered so softly.
"Why'd you whisper?" "Do I really mean so little to you?" She asked shockingly.
He just chuckled, his eyes lighting up as he took her hand and locked it with his.
"Because Harley, you are my world."
