Love Is Hilarious

In which the Joker does his best to please Harley on their anniversary, but things don't go as planned...
--------------

Joker-
The sound of my loud and annoying alarm blared loud enough for me to roll out of bed, hitting the cold concrete floor.
I sigh in frustration, rubbing my eyes as I hit the clock with a swift motion of my fist, pushing it off the dresser.
My mind suddenly goes to reality, realizing how much noise I was making. Holding in my breaths, I peak next to me.
Silence.

Taking a deep breath, I notice the love of my life stuttering a bit in her sleep. Warm blankets surround her slim body as I slowly take them off, stroking her hair as I kiss her cheek. "Go back to bed pumpkin." I say calmly, gently walking toward the kitchen. This is only the start to our perfect day.

My mind wanders off to last years anniversary, oh how great it was.
I grin cheekily, realizing I've been with Harley for 25 years so far.
She'll always be my Queen, no matter what age.

Continuously grabbing ingredients and reading it off a recipe for pancake batter, a sudden midst of shock enters.
Dammit, we don't have eggs!

I pound my fist on the refrigerator in anger, mumbling curses under my breath.
I fling my fist on the counter in response to the exaggerated mess in the kitchen. Double the clean up. Double the frustration...

I angrily open the refrigerator once more, hoping for a plan B. I sneakily grin, seeing a lifesaver in the back of the fridge.
Nothing a little pancake mix can't fix. Thank you Bisquik.
I put on an accomplished smile, pouring a cup of water into the mix, following the instructions on the back of the package. I didn't completely ruin breakfast...

I take a deep breath, stepping back from the stack of pancakes I'd made. Before I could do anything, the soft sound of footsteps gets my attention.
"Hello Ms. Quinn." I say, exaggerating my voice.

She giggles, her smile widening. It makes me happy to see her smile
"Puddin, what's all this?!" She exclaims, wrapping her hands around my neck.
I slowly wrap my arms around her slim waist, pulling her closer.
Leading her ear to my mouth, I whisper softly in her ear.

"Happy anniversary, baby." I say huskily, making her bite her lip in response.

"Same to you, baby." She replies sexily, her voice rasping.

She smiles, putting plump lips on mine, kissing me slowly.

I grin, pulling back and take her toward the kitchen. "Eat up." I demand, sitting her on a chair. She does as told while sitting on the pulled out chair, slowly eating a pancake without hesitation. "Mistah J... this is really good!" She says, widening her eyes dramatically. I laugh, nodding my head in agreement. It's a miracle.

The sparkle in her ocean blue eyes and the widened smile on her face makes me feel like I did something right this time.
I'd do anything for her...

-----------

It was the night of our anniversary, and I was currently cooking dinner. I ordered Harley to take a long, hot, bath while I made the meal. However, things were getting... out of control

Tomato sauce spilled all over the ground, pots and pans piling up the sink, leaving me a fuming mess.

"Piece of shit!" I shout, kicking a glass plate and watch it shatter.

I couldn't calm myself, I thought the night would end perfectly, but instead, like usual, I'm ruining it.
I can't even make a simple pot of spaghetti!

Before I could do anything, the sound of footsteps catch my attention.
I suddenly stop breathing, when Harley steps foot in the kitchen. She was wearing her red silk robe, with a stunned look on her face when she takes a look at the mess. I'm in trouble...

I gulp, waiting for a response, a yell, or something sarcastic to come out of her mouth.

We suddenly lock eyes for a minute, until she puts a small grin on her face. However, that small grin turns into a fit of laughter in a matter of seconds. I confusedly look at her. She was cackling on the floor, holding her stomach. Her giggling made me feel like I was just a joke, and I can't cook anything.

Until I stare at her once more, still snickering from my mistakes, making me realize that she could've been yelling at me for making this mess, but instead was laughing at me. My beautiful girlfriend, overjoyed with giggles, from the mess I made.
I guess I can't complain...

Smiling widely, I start to chuckle, laughing harder each time she would. Within three minutes, we were both on the ground, laughing our butts off for no reason. And I was okay with it.

When we finally finished laughing, I got up and looked at Harley with an apologetic face, getting a sincere face from her in response. "I'm sorry for this disaster." I whisper, stroking her blonde hair. She smiles, nodding her head. "This is still the best anniversary ever, plus, we can order takeout." She giggles, kissing my lips lightly.

"But for now..." she tosses me a broom.

"Lets clean."

And that... is why next anniversary, I'm taking her out to eat.
