In the Night
In which the Joker has a terrible nightmare with Harley there to help him through it
(Idea from @FanFictionie)
-------------
Stranded alone I walked.
Toward the unfamiliar building I walked In.
Until I realized it was just my home.
But what was that sound?
The sound of silence. Something I was not used to having.
Where was that annoying blonde that made all the noise happen?
Confusedly walking toward the building, still no sign of that blue eyed noisemaker.
And then it hit me. Literally.
Falling onto the ground my red eyes blinked.
She had left. I told her to leave and she listened.
There was no longer sound and my surroundings were now an echo.
There was no point in talking because there was simply no one to talk to.
Because she had left.
So I sat down on the crooked couch, silently breathing.
Then just with another breath.
Bam.
Great.
Batsy walks through the door with a smug look on his face.
"J, glad to finally talk with you. Alone for once."
With his smile not so convincing, I just nod my head, unable to answer from loss of words and interest to speak.
"I love it when you give me the silent treatment" were the last words I hear before leaning to the side of the couch.
Little did I know he'd pulled out a gun and the trigger, shooting me before I even got the chance to speak.
The last few seconds before knowing I was dead I saw my sad life flash before my eyes.
And the sad part was that all I saw was Harley.
Sure, my eyes were on Batman as they were slowly shutting, but my mind before shutting down, was on Harley.
Harleen,
Therapy,
Love,
Feelings,
Crash,
Burn,
Leave,
Forget,
"Don't forget dead, Joker."
I hear Batsy say before my eyes shut...
My eyes shoot open to the sound of my heavy breathing and wheezing. My heart was beating faster and faster, making me feel lightheaded.
I was in to much of a shock thinking about my dream to even notice the empty spot beside me.
Where was she? I closed my eyes, painfully shouting.
"M-Mistah j? Are you okay?" She whispered. Her voices bringing chills to my body.
I turn my head to her, my eyes worryingly staring. Her eyes were incredibly red and puffy.
Her lips were trembling and her hair was in a messy knot.
She was crying. Why?
I wanted to yell. I wanted to scream harshly "Does it look like I'm okay Harley!" But I couldn't. Because I knew I'd hate myself for yelling at her. Especially when she was sobbing in the dark. Probably because of me.
I shake my head, getting a single nod from the young jester.
She walks toward the bed, wiping away her tears, giving me a fake smile.
She caresses my stiff face. I can just see it in her face that she was trying not to cry.
"I'm sorry." She whispered, her blue eyes not leaving mine.
I paused, looking at the beautiful blonde in front of me. But... something was different.
Was it her long blonde hair touching my chest? No.
It was her features. She didn't look like herself. She looked scared. Terrified.
"Don't apologize." My voice comes out as a whisper.
"I wasn't there for you." She sighed, grabbing a hold of my hand, wrapping her fingers around my palm.
I shake my head, suddenly feeling guilty. A feeling I've never felt before.
Why is she so sorry?
Just because of one bad dream?
I'm the one who should feel sorry.
Why is tonight the only night I can truly say... I'm in love?
"Don't ever say that again Harls."
"I was never there for you."
My breath hitches, as I forcefully put my lips on hers, our kiss more passionate than ever.
Maybe I was to caught in the moment, or I was just feeling different... but I just wanted to her to feel my love.
I wanted her to know I loved her.
I wrapped both my arms around her slim figure, embracing a warm hug.
She sighs in relief, putting her head on my shoulder.
"I love you Mistah J." She whispers as I nod my head in reply.
"I know you do."
