Dear Abnus,

The Gwyar Nosferatu Community is opening its gates to fellow immortals. We would like to inform you about our huge interest in welcoming your people to join and live among us.

As you know, our community has always exclusively consisted of vampires. However, we would like to expand toward a safer and welcoming world of cohabitation, acceptance and harmony for all the supernaturals and immortals.

It is common knowledge that Vampires require human blood to survive, as well as Ghouls needing human flesh. In our opinion, it is quite complementary, for our covens are full of wasted flesh that we do not require. Besides, we have heard about your shortage of nourishments.

Therefore, as the heir to the throne of Adira, we seek the better for the community and that's why we are offering a treaty: sustenance for protection.

Vampires, unfortunately, are nocturnal. Thus, The Hunters have been seeking us out for so long, shamefully attacking us at our weakest. Ghouls are scentless and consequently undetected by them, which is really highly helpful. Unfortunately, the Lycan Community cannot deal with The Hunters for they are superior in the hierarchy and despite their futile efforts the demons control their council. However, they handle curious humans so well.

Convincing The Lycans is not an easy job. Vampires are their sworn enemies, after all. But, the new generations are coming to understand the absurdity of the old hatred for we are gaining nothing but death and loss among our people and families. Yet, Ghouls and Vampires have always been closer than most supernaturals. As said before, we are complementary in our existence.

Our ancestors used to live in accord but grew apart as time went. We seek to fix and mend the rift between us for our blood can be a great source of power for the ghouls when necessary.

We know that your community is struggling with The Hunters as well. The vile demons seek our end and powers and humans seek to torture knowledge out of us. Both have been giving us all horrendous headaches for so long. The Witches have responded and agreed to help create magic fields to ward off all that is unwanted and dangerous although they are infamous for their flimsy loyalty. But, the Evanora Clan was mysteriously eradicated and only the Nerezza Clan remains.

Hence, our unity is not only a matter of protection but also of power. Together we stand, divided we fall. We are but sparks lost in a hostile universe. But together our sheen may bathe our world in glory.

Eztli is a name that means "blood" in Nahuatl (Aztec).

Ambrosius is Old Greek for immortal, divine. (the name of the region the Ghouls are ruling in here.)

Gwyar means "gore" or "spilled blood, bloodshed" in Old Welsh, but its more general meaning is "flow, fluidity".

Nosferatu has been presented as possibly an archaic Romanian word, synonymous with "vampire".

Adira is a name of Hebrew origin meaning "strong".

Evanora and Nerezza have been explained in 'The Whisperer Of The Dead' short story in this book. In short: Light and Darkness. (Yes, both stories take place in the same universe.)

Aila is a girl's name meaning 'from the strong place'.

Aviaq is a Greenlandic name meaning "family member, relative", derived from the stem avik 'part (of the family)' which is itself composed of aak "blood" and the suffix vik 'real'.
