The night was young. A shy moon peeking out from behind a light blanket of gray clouds. It was a cold autumn day, and it was clear winter was coming, as everything in the mornings had been covered in frost and the fog had laid thickly upon New Willow Hill. The stars that painted the raven black heaven above were shining as brightly as they could. Two figures were taking in the pretty sight of the city, full of nightlife and trouble. They stood on a certain hill, one that the taller figure had found decades ago, that gave them the perfect view of the place they called home. Or, at least the taller figure could call it home. The shorter one lived in a territory that had its border against the city below them. Leo Zuiderduin, the taller figure, slowly puffed out a cloud of smoke, as the cigarette rested between his thumb and pointing finger. His free arm and hand wrapped securely around the shoulders of the shorter figure. Thora Eriksson was her name, a fierce she-wolf who originated from the even fiercer pack close to New Willow Hill. His beloved.
Leo and Thora were leaning against the hood of Leo's Ford Torino, 1970 model. A car important to both of them, a car which was involved in many important memories.
Thora breathed in the sweet scent of her rather odd lover; a mixture of blood and her favorite cologne. In the beginning, Thora thought the Moon Goddess had fucked her over. Giving her a vampire mate; someone who's not even her own species. In the beginning, she hated Leo with such fury, she had almost killed him. The smaller figure had wailed and raged on and on, for how unfair it was that every friend of hers had gotten a normal mate, one they would live happily after with, and how she was stuck with a blood sucking freak.
Leo's pale fingers drew soft patterns on his beloved's arm, his chest heaving up and down in a slow manner, too slow to look human. He didn't need to breathe. But it was an old habit, and old habits die hard. Leo was deep in thought when he heard the delicate voice of his beloved speaking.
"My father wishes to meet you tomorrow for dinner if you'd like." Thora spoke, as her piercing blue eyes turned to look up at her mate.
The taller man continued to look forwards for a moment, before he looked down at Thora, meeting her eyes. He gave her a small smile as he nodded.
"That sounds lovely, dear." Leo said. Thora smiled back, nestling further into Leo's side.
Leo inhaled one last time, breathing out the last puff of smoke as he threw the cigarette bump on the ground, destroying it with the heel of his shoe. The couple continued watching the city in the comfortable silence surrounding them, before something crossed Leo's mind, making him smirk to himself. He quietly chuckled, making Thora look up at him again. The taller man could see his beloved look at him with confusion and curiosity filled in her eyes.
"You weren't a part of my plans." Leo admitted, almost sheepishly, as he looked down on her.
Her left eyebrow raised, as she got that adorable confused look on her face, one he adored.
"What does that mean?" She asked. "What plans?" She was curious. It laced her voice.
Leo continued to smile, as he thought back on the moment they met for the first time. How drastically had changed his entire life and the course of his life. The vampire, who was ready back in that time, to crown himself as the king of New Willow Hill, had been so humbled when he met the love of his life. Leo had always thought he was going to be alone for his entire miserable life; he had already been alone for a millennial at that point. But, as it turned out, his beloved popped up when he most needed her. And, truth be told, she most likely changed things for Leo and his little crew of rogue vampires, for the better. Thora had truly changed his plans, even if it was unknown to the shorter woman beside him.
"I never excepted to care for someone as much as I care for you. You changed everything. And, to be honest, I didn't know what to do with myself when I first met you." Leo told her, honestly, and Thora being smiling, knowing what he was starting to hint at.
The dark story that had been Leo's reality for a long, long time. Thora's arms sneaked around Leo as she hugged him closer.
"But I'm glad I finally found you, my love. I've waited for so long before I met you. You are my everything." He whispered.
Thora nodded, as she felt him peck the top of her head. She leaned back, looking up at him as their lips met for a tender kiss. A kiss filled with love and understanding. The two of them pulled away from each other, as Leo's piercing studied his beloved's face. Everything he loved stood in front of him, and he swore to God he almost could feel his dead heart skipping a beat as he could only think about the things the future would bring the two lovers.
"I'm just glad you decided to stick by me. Especially after that stunt I pulled." Thora chuckled, as Leo barked out a laugh.
"I'm glad your Goddess decided to give me to you. I think she made the perfect match." Leo said.
"Yeah, me too." Thora sighed contently.
The two of them watched over the city. In a comfortable silence, neither of them spoke, allowing the natural sounds from the night city to drown them in nostalgia.
