Who's There??!!
It was a particularly dark and quiet night. Avyanna was in her car, leisurely driving home since it was the weekend. She was humming along to Hide n' Seek when the ringing of her phone cut her short.
"Hullo, Avyanna here," she said, not bothering to look at the caller ID.
"A-Avyanna!!" came the panicked voice of her sister, Chaya. "Avyanna, can you come home quickly? I feel like something bad is about to happen."
Avyanna wasn't fazed. She was used to Chaya watching horror films and calling her at odd times, saying she was afraid.
"Chaya, look. I'll be home in 5. Please, please don't rip the house apart trying to hide. You're fine; our house isn't haunted." Her sister's irritated voice interrupted her.
"Avyanna, I'm not kidding!! Just come home quickly. I don't feel safe explaining through the phone. Just COME!!"
Sighing, Avyanna accelerated her car.
*5 minutes later*
Unlocking the front door, Avyanna walked in to the living room, only to find Chaya sitting on the sofa, her head in her hands.
"Hey! You fine??" Chaya merely grunted. Shrugging, Avyanna went to wash up. She came back down ten minutes later, only to find Chaya sitting in the same position as before.
"Chaya, are you okay? You've barely moved a finger in the past ten minutes," said Avyanna, talking as if she were speaking to a toddler.
Chaya lifted her head, her eyes bloodshot. She did not look like she was crying, yet her eyes were the colour of poppies. "I'm fine, sister. Let us eat dinner before resigning to our rooms for the night." Chaya said, oddly formal. Avyanna was weirded out. Her sister was the most informal person she knew, and she swore she heard a distorted undertone in Chaya's voice.
*After dinner*
"Well, good night, Chaya."
"Oh, and I hope you stop acting weird in the morning." Avyanna added before going up the stairs to plop onto her bed.
**************
Avyanna woke up to some strange rattling sounds around 3 in the morning. The rational part of her mind was rightfully afraid, but, like always, there was that one part that told her to go investigate. "Isn't that how people die in horror movies?" she asked herself.
'But Chaya would be afraid.' said the curious part, taking Chaya as an excuse to go check the noise out. She slowly trudged down the stairs, her box cutter in hand. She reached the hall and immediately saw Chaya crouching the corner, head to her knees, and rocking back and forth.
Dropping the box cutter, she ran towards Chaya. "CHAYA!!! Are you fine???" she asked, hugging her.
"Avyanna! H-He's here!! B-Be quiet!! And stay away from me! He wants me, not you!" Now completely freaked out, Avyanna moved so she was not in the grabbing distance of Chaya. Just then, she felt sudden heat coming from behind her.
Terrified, she swiveled around, but she felt the heat go past her, towards Chaya. Now knowing what was happening, she didn't dare look at Chaya, but something told her it was fine. She was not convinced, though, because the voice in her head definitely wasn't male.
But something made her look. But Chaya was gone. She vanished into thin air. At least, that was what she thought until someone pounced on her back. The person's touch was acidic, literally. She could feel it slowly cooking her flesh. She wriggled underneath them, still facing the carpet. After successfully pushing the person away, she grabbed her phone, fled to the restroom, and locked herself inside.
"Come out, come out, wherever you are," cooed a voice outside. For some odd reason, she couldn't tell if the voice belonged to a man or woman. The more she listened, the more she could differentiate the voices. She heard two voices. One belonged to Chaya, and the other belonged to a man.
She quickly called the police, and this is how the conversation went:
"Hello, what's your emergency?"
"H-Hi, ummm... my sister is freaking me out!! She is banging on the doors and is asking me to come out."
"Ma'am, please stay calm. Please give us your location, and I will send it."
The radio operator was interrupted by Avyanna's high-pitched scream. The radio reporter heard another, new voice at the other end of the call. "Sorry to disturb you, officer. My daughter is quite naughty. Thank you, good bye."
The radio operator felt like something was off. So he traced the call and sent the police to the location.
**************
The police banged on the door but got no response. Reluctantly, they broke the door open and carefully trudged inside. There were five officers, and each was searching different corners of the house. Soon, one of them came across a trail of blood leading to a bedroom.
He called the others and followed the trail. There, they found two female bodies, both drenched in blood. It appeared as though the older-looking one had been mauled and stabbed. They figured the younger one killed her sister before committing suicide. One of the officers also noticed a bloody video camera on a chair in the room.
Sliding on a pair of gloves, he called out to the others. Together, they gathered in a circle and started the latest recording.
*In the recording*
"Where are you, Avyanna??" came a distorted voice from a person standing outside a bathroom.
"H-Hi, ummm...My sister is freaking me out!! She is banging on the doors and is asking me to come out."
They heard a voice say it from inside. There was silence for a few seconds while the person filming the video tried to open the door. Suddenly, the door swung open, and the girl screamed. The person filming picked up the phone and said
"Sorry to disturb you, officer. My daughter is quite naughty. Thank you, good bye."
The person cut the call and brought out a knife.
"Chaya, please, this is not you!!! I'm your sister!!" the girl begged. But the girl just plunged the knife into her sister's stomach, pulled it back, and stabbed her again. The girl quickly lost consciousness from losing blood. 'Chaya' took this chance to completely ruin the girl's face.
**************
The officer abruptly turned the recording off and put the camera in a bag. "Well, now we know what happened. Let's go get the stretchers and haul these bodies out."
However, upon their return, it appeared superfluous to use two stretchers, as "Chaya's" body had vanished completely, leaving no trace of her presence.
