Using Prompts
The following extremely short stories include the use of these prompts:
(Warning: There is no angst in this chapter. I repeat, no angst)
1. "No! Not again!" Amelia cried out, slamming the cupboard door. "Jack!"
Jack ran into the room, "What is it?"
"Did you eat the last cookie?"
"Who told you?"
"No one, but I'm not an idiot," Amelia said. "Did you think I wouldn't find out?"
2. "Staring contest!" Amelia grinned.
"Okay!" Jack smiled, he turned to look at her and then, "Don't you dare close your eyes!"
3. "You can't trust Anyone," Jack mumbled, in tears.
Amelia hugged him, "You can trust me. Who upset you?"
"This kid in my class. He's called Anyone. He stole my lunch. Like I said, you can't trust Anyone."
4. "Here's your book back," Stupid-me smiled at Amelia.
Amelia smiled back, "Thanks! I trusted you. Stupid me. Are you listening?"
"Yeah," Stupid smiled back.
5. "No! The school year's over already. All the old, easy topics are done with. I never got to say goodbye." Amelia was whining to her brother.
"Goodbye?" Jack asked. "To work? I just say, sayonara, school!"
6. Amelia stared down at her blank page. "Ugh, I hate writers block! Why are you here, block? Wait. Don't tell me. When I was sarcastic about you the other day... You actually thought I loved you?"
7. "What did the sharpener say to the pencil?"
"I don't know, what did the sharpener say to the pencil?"
"I can't believe you used me like that."
8. Amelia panicked, "Watch out!"
It was too late, Jack had tripped on the step.
9. "Chickens can't fly," Amelia assured him.
Jack frowned, "I don't believe you."
"It's true! I promise."
10. "Wait, what are you going to do?" Jack asked.
"Run."
"Voluntarily?"
11. "Mum!" Jack screamed.
His mum flew up the stairs and into his bedroom, "What is it, Jack?"
"I can't go to school today."
"Why not?"
"My dream told me there would be carnivorous flying elephants waiting to kill me there."
"It will be okay." His mum gave him a quick hug. "The floating zebras will protect you."
12. "Amelia, where are you going?" Jack asked. "Running again? You can't run forever!"
"Watch me." Amelia laughed, "I'm going to run every Friday for the rest of my life."
"That's stupid."
13. "Ameliaaaaaaaaaaa!" Jack called. "Can you help me with something, please?"
"I'm just chopping the veg for dinner!"
Their mum smiled at Amelia, "Put that knife down. Go and help your brother."
14. "I hate running." Amelia slumped onto the sofa.
"You said you'd run forever," Jack pointed out.
"I don't want to anymore. I'm ready to end it all, and don't you dare try to stop me."
"Okay. What movie do you want to watch?" Jack asked.
You're welcome.
